Chapter 480: Chapter 353: A fierce battle that must be won
Gobi, yellow sand, and Horror Wolves.
In the wasteland territory of these wolves, an atmosphere of death fills the air, with pure white bones and bloodstains everywhere…
Vultures carrying dark diseases hover in the dim sky, waiting for Chu Mu and his soul pets to leave. Then they will swoop down and feast on the rotting flesh of the corpses.
Besides the dark vultures, there are many creatures that live by feeding on soul pet corpses. These creatures were often naturally ignored by powerful soul pets, but once the soul pets die, their proud and dignified bodies are trampled on and eaten by these seemingly insignificant creatures.
As far as Chu Mu knows, some soul pets indeed strengthen themselves by eating the corpses of other soul pets. For example, the dark vultures hovering above the five Horror Wolf corpses they’ve killed likely possessed the strength of eighth-rank War Generals. If they worked together in groups, they could have immense combat power.
Generally speaking, the more powerful the soul pets the vultures eat, the faster their abilities improve. However, to survive in these perilous yellow sand lands, they also need to have some protective abilities. At least they shouldn’t become corpses while enjoying their meals.
In fact, the existence of these vultures serves another purpose: they inform other soul pets about the skirmishes happening around the dark vulture’s hovering areas.
Battles over territories between the Horror Wolves occur quite often. When these fights happen, nearby Horror Wolves naturally come to investigate, so staying in the area with corpses for too long is unwise…
Chu Mu and his soul pets stayed in the area with the five corpses for about a day. Chu Mu knew that actively attracting the four Horror Wolves that had been obstructing him was incredibly dangerous, as he couldn’t be entirely sure whether they would call for backup from their nearby territories.
So, Chu Mu ingeniously used the dark vultures in the sky to attract the nearest territory’s four Horror Wolves.
Having access to Dreamland skills, Chu Mu ordered the Night Thunder Dream Beast to lower the dark vultures’ flying altitude to make sure the four Horror Wolves could see them, without alerting any nearby territories.
After silently waiting for two hours, Chu Mu finally saw a five-meter-long blue Horror Wolf’s figure coming from the hazy sandstorm in the north!
This blue Horror Wolf wasn’t running. Instead, it was leisurely walking towards him, its head hanging slightly low and its eyes indifferent yet arrogantly exuding a desolate leader’s majesty!
The Horror Wolf was about three or four hundred meters away from Chu Mu and didn’t seem to notice his presence. Instead, it was still headed for where the dark vultures were circling…
“There’s only one. Very good!” A smile appeared on Chu Mu’s face.
Chu Mu seemed to have luck on his side, for if he could separate them and defeat them one by one, his chances of winning would obviously be much higher!
“Night, set the trap.” Chu Mu commanded the Night Thunder Dream Beast.
As the Night Thunder Dream Beast stealthily moved through the darkness, the wind and sand didn’t linger on its body. It slowly spread its Dream Waves like setting up an invisible trap, changing the surrounding environment according to its thoughts.
The Night Thunder Dream Beast can create two types of dream worlds. The first is by injecting the psychic powers of demons directly into the spiritual world of the enemy. Inside this dream, the enemy would be met with a series of illusions.
The second type of dream world would directly change the surrounding environment. Any creature that comes close, as long as their mind is limited, would be deceived by the modifications created by the Night Thunder Dream Beast.
Chu Mu asked the Night Thunder Dream Beast to create the second type of dreamland. The Beast transformed the yellow sand gradually into a serene and quiet sandy land, making it so that the Horror Wolf unknowingly entered the area and was surrounded by Chu Mu’s soul pets.
In fact, if the Night Thunder Dream Beast had a higher stage and enough time, it could create a Dreamland Labyrinth, trapping a soul pet of equal strength for a long time.
The stage gap between the Night Thunder Dream Beast and the ninth-rank low-level Horror Wolf prevented it from creating more outrageous illusions, as the wiser Horror Wolf would spot them more easily.
The ninth-rank low-level Horror Wolf didn’t notice anything unusual, occasionally raising its head to glance at the circling dark vultures in the sky and then continuing to walk forward with its head down.
“Mo Ye!”
“Whooowhooo!!!” At Chu Mu’s command, Mo Ye sprang out from behind the ninth-rank low-level Horror Wolf. Mo Ye’s nine long tails fiercely swept across the wolf and sent it, along with the sands on the ground, flying away!
“Roar Roar Roar!!!!”
Having been waiting for a while, the seventh-rank fifth-stage Zhan Ye pounced on the ninth-rank low-level Horror Wolf and stabbed it with its Ink Armor Thorn. It then commenced a brutal melee with the Horror Wolf!
Zhan Ye is adept at close combat, and so are the Horror Wolves. As the two soul pets collide, blood and flesh fly everywhere…
Being at a disadvantage in terms of stages and styles, Zhan Ye naturally suffers more injuries. However, Mo Ye doesn’t care about these wounds, and its body slowly heals some of them during the battle with the Horror Wolf.
“Zhan Ye, don’t give it a chance to call for its companions!” Chu Mu said to Zhan Ye.
Zhan Ye’s Black Armor Thorns were frequently piercing outwards, each time penetrating the Horror Wolf’s skin defense and entering its flesh. The dark corrosion power quickly entered the Horror Wolf’s body, eroding its defenses.
Mo Ye’s attack was much stronger than Zhan Ye’s, and once the Horror Wolf’s defense was corroded, each of Mo Ye’s attacks could inflict significant damage on it.
Soon, the Horror Wolf had already become heavily wounded and was struggling to escape the combined assault of Chu Mu’s three soul pets.
“Awooo!!!! Awooo!!!!!!!”
Finally, as the battle raged on, the Horror Wolf let out a cry, calling for its other three companions to join!
Chu Mu knew that it would be impossible to kill this Ninth-Stage Horror Wolf without anyone noticing. He quickly told his soul pets, “It will take them some time to run over here, we have to finish off this Horror Wolf before they arrive.”
Mo Ye, Zhan Ye, and the Night Thunder Dream Beast were all aware of their life or death mission in this fight, and they had to maximise their combat potential to ensure everyone’s survival.
“Awooo!!!! Awooo!!!! Awooo!!!!!!!!!!”
Upon hearing the calls of their companion, the three Horror Wolves’ voices quickly came from the north, their chilling cries mixed with anger and a warning to intruders.
“Whoosh”
With sand flying wildly, the silhouettes of the three azure wolves pierced through the darkness and rapidly approached Chu Mu from the north. From a distance, it seemed like a storm was about to engulf the battlefield.
The distance was only about 500 meters, which wasn’t too far for Ninth Rank Commander-level Soul Pets. Chu Mu’s three soul pets had to kill the previously trapped Horror Wolf in this short amount of time!
“Zhan Ye, Limb Regeneration!”
Zhan Ye, who had been fighting the Horror Wolf, was covered in injuries. In fact, Zhan Ye could still fight against the Horror Wolf with its tenacious vitality. However, Chu Mu had to kill this Horror Wolf, or the upcoming battle would be challenging.
Zhan Ye’s wounds began to secrete insect liquid, which quickly healed its injuries!
Within just a few seconds, Zhan Ye was fully healed and ready to fight again. Moreover, after repairing its Ink Armor, the Courageous Sting’s Heart effect increased Zhan Ye’s strength by one stage, reaching the Seventh Rank, sixth stage!
Zhan Ye’s Black Armor Thorns were already a significant threat to the Horror Wolf, and the Ninth Rank Low-Grade Horror Wolf did not realize that the once injured Zhan Ye would suddenly “revive” and catch it off guard!
“Wu wu wu!!!!!”
Mo Ye managed to seize the right moment to strike; its attack was the only one capable of inflicting fatal damage on the Horror Wolf.
As the Horror Wolf let out a painful howl, Mo Ye suddenly accelerated, and its razor-sharp claws tore directly towards the weakened spot on the Horror Wolf’s skin!
“Whoosh!!!!!!!!!!”
With a flash of cold light, the Horror Wolf’s body was completely torn open by Mo Ye’s Crown Flame claws. Instantly, red flames began to burn the Horror Wolf’s flesh, while crimson flames burned its blood. The two kinds of flames crazily invaded the Horror Wolf’s body.
“Awooo Awooo”
The Ninth Rank Low-Grade Horror Wolf let out a pained howl filled with agony, almost like a lament. It seemed to know that it would not survive, and conveyed its resentment towards its three companions, asking for revenge on its behalf.
“Awooo!!!! Awooo!!!!!!!! Awooo!!!!!!!!!”
Upon seeing their companion’s body burned from within and reduced to a pile of black ash, the three Horror Wolves immediately let out their most furious roars. They seemed eager to tear Chu Mu and his three soul pets to shreds right away!
As the scent of blood filled the air, Chu Mu’s face grew solemn as he faced the three Horror Wolves. His black eyes shone with a fierce determination to fight in the darkness!
This was a fierce battle – a battle they had to win!
