1st Kiss Was Intentional - Chapter 7
What’s this situation?
I anxiously look between Carolyn and the man. Carolyn, who steps back after crossing the line with the man, laughs loudly at my desperate face. Then she says to me with a pleasant voice, pretending to be merciful, as if she has lessened my trouble. “It’ll hard for you and me if this drag on for any longer. Let’s make this easy.”
When the man stops in front of my face, and her words penetrate into my ears, something comes to my mind.
How can a concubine, the symbol of a peace treaty, be kicked out of the Imperial City? Something that can happen with a man?
“I’ll finish it at once.”
Affair… A word that comes to my mind like lightning strikes. It’s difficult for an emperor’s woman to maintain her life under any circumstances if she becomes intimate with another man. Now it’s clear that Carolyn is trying to make things up that I had an affair with this man. She then says, “I’ll bring people in. Take care of her properly,” and tries to leave.
“Hey, go away!”
I was glad that I didn’t die at the hands of the emperor because I thought the original story has changed. Will the person who’s meant to perish somehow die anyway? Still, where is the law in this world? I’ve barely endured but now, I’ve to die because I’m caught in this dirty and cheap madness!
Fear and anger mingle in me as I shake my head wildly and back away. The man’s unpleasant breathing comes towards me with his dull footsteps.
I desperately look for something to use as a weapon, but unfortunately, I don’t even have any sharp ornaments.
There’s no other choice but to use the last resort. I glare at him fiercely, determined to get away, so I hit the man’s groin with my high heels.
Before I know it, the man, who’s getting close to me, bends his knees with a torch in his hand. His eyes stay on me as he watches me from the floor.
Ack!
As the blazing hot fire fill my eyes, I couldn’t breathe as if my airway is clogged. My head spins and my eyes glistens. Even my feet, which I used to to kick and put all my strength toward, loosen.
‘No, it can’t be. How can this be?’
When I step back, gasping for air while keeping eye contact with him, he thought I was scared, and has gained confidence to come closer.
Is this how the ending of a minor villain ends?
But I don’t want to die. I want to live.
If I’d really seduced the Emperor, I wouldn’t be so sad. If I’d known that I was going to die in such a miserable way, I’d have rather seduced him!
I swallow my tears and shout with all my might, closing my eyes tightly, avoiding the thick arms of the man stretching out to me.
“No!”
Boom!
“Ah!”
Suddenly, an urgent and heavy cry is heard, along with the collapse of something bulky. Carolyn’s screams, who I thought had left, rings at the end of the hallway.
I open my eyes.
The man, who had reached out to me with his insidious hand, convulses on the floor with his eyes turned upside down.
The torch that he had in his hand falls off to the side.
Huh…?
I shrink in fear of getting burned.
In the end, what happened?
“Hey, let go of me… …! Argh!”
I could see Caroline flying over a fallen man with a sharp scream before my puzzled eyes. She lands on top of his unconscious body, fluttering her colorful dress. She was thrown like a bag of flour.
“Ahh!”
A loud scream repeats with the sound of a leather drum bursting through. With my eyes wide open, I turn my head toward the direction that Carolyn came from.
I could hear footsteps slowly walking in the dark.
What soon appears in front of me—
A sleek, sturdy build, and silver hair like the milky way. Blood red eyes in the dark.
Then Carolyn, who’s on top of the man that has passed out, squeals, and raises herself with a malicious look and staggers. “Cough, Cough! You crazy bastard! I didn’t think I’d……!”
As he approaches me, his face remains stoic. Without as much as a change in his expression, he hits Carolyn in the back of her neck. It’s light as a butterfly, but fast as lightning. I couldn’t believe it even when I saw it with my eyes. Carolyn screams then faints without prolonged suffering.
“Are you done now?”
I’m so stunned that the accident didn’t work out properly that I couldn’t help but stutter. “What…what?”
After doing all those crazy things, he bends down without breaking eye contact. His pale hands, like his silvery hair, rubs my cheeks, which have hardened with fear. Soon he leans toward me and slowly opens his mouth. “Let’s return to your castle.”
With a breath that touches my ears, I could hear his languid voice. “I can see you to my heart’s content.”
The warmth returns to my pale cheeks.
It should’ve been scary since I saw him knock someone down without blinking, except I’m incredibly indifferent and strangely relieved.
“Give me permission.”
As I blink blankly, his languid voice hastens. At the same time, the warmth of his hand, which is stroking my cheek, is about to leave, so I nod impatiently.
“Yes. I’ll allow it.”
My distressed mind’s only able to calm down in his hands, so I feel anxious when he’s about to leave. When I cry out in a hurry, the hand that has left stopped. With a sigh of relief, I lean my face back into his hand and realize that my cheeks are a little damp. I don’t know why, but I must have cried because of my phobia.
‘Oh, I’m going to mess up my makeup.’
I thought that maybe I should wash my face quickly. Then, I belatedly recall what he said.
‘The right to come to my castle? You deserve to see me as much as you want?’
As I stand back, wiping my eyes, I see him staring at me with with a naive face. Having said something strange, he’s acting as if he has said nothing.
Is he really my stalker? I guess I haven’t given up on what I regretted. But should I tell him thank you for saving my life?
Ah, I don’t know.
Anyway, you’re the benefactor who saved my life, and you seem to want to look good in front of me. What’s wrong with you?
Moreover, compare to the fact that I almost died because of an affair, I think it would be a big deal if a man come to my castle. I was hoping to receive care from others but having him reciprocating isn’t bad either.
“If I say yes—” Then I try to attach the conditions in case he comes late in the night, but suddenly he puts his hand under my knee.
He hugs me out of the blue.
Feeling my body floating, I scream and grab him by the shoulder.
“What are you doing now?!”
With my mouth wide open, I was about to point out his rudeness when he whispers quickly and glances around. “Quiet.”
Turning his head reflexively, the light begins to come closer along with a humming sound from the end of the hallway. Hearing the sound of metal rustling, the knights must become coming toward them.
Eh?
“How did people come here?”
This is a walkway for all the servants!
I look around and don’t know what to do.
We shouldn’t have been caught in this mess right now. It’s obvious that I would be the perpetrator of this situation, and that the man who saved me would be executed for the contempt of the nobility. Carolyn and that bear-like man would abominably claim that they were victims!
“Because I lured them here.”
“What? Why would it be your fault?”
“They’ll get a fair punishment.”
Holding him by the shoulder with a torrent of incomprehensible words, I ask again. “What?”
Either way, he holds me lightly, as if he has a feather in his arms, and moves quickly.
In the meantime, my affection grows by the minute. I’m puzzled, but I shut my mouth quietly and hold my breath. The first thing to do is to get out of here without being noticed.
But what the hell is this?
Aaahhh!
I shut my mouth with one hand when I turn blue. The sound of the wind blowing in my ear is as loud as a tear.
—Yes, it is. This incredibly powerful servant opens a large window in the hallway and jumps out of it!
I close my eyes tightly, so I don’t have to see the scene occurring in front of me or hear my fluttering dress. My whole-body trembles because we jump from the tall tower.
Come on, come on! How could I die like this? There’s nothing worse than being decapitated for an affair!
Just before I almost faint by the wind penetrating my whole body, and the gravity plummeting my body to the ground, the descent stops with a cheerful sound.
Ack!
I close my mouth with one hand and hold his neck with the other without realizing it. I open my eyes reflexively in the midst of the dizziness.
The tranquil scenery of the night fills my eyes.
The sight of the bloody crash that came into my head for a few seconds falling from the windows of the high castle is nowhere to be found. I’m safely planned on the ground.
—Oh, my God, what’s all this?
I look up at him with doubt in my eyes.
He gazes down at me without a scratch anywhere. I was embarrassed at the moment because I don’t know why I was making such a fuss.
‘No, I’m normal. He’s abnormal!’
Oh, my God. No one in the world would hold a woman and jumps out of the window.
Now, there is!
I lift my neck up toward the castle with a frown. I think that I thought that it wasn’t as high. However, the castle’s so high that the top could not be seen at a glance. The back of my head tingles briefly. Well, something’s off.
“Are you all right? Didn’t you get a cut?”
“I’m fine.”
“What? How could you not get hurt at all?”
“Did you want me to get hurt?”
“That’s not it!”
He’s strong, but I just saw it. I knew it, and what I saw is a new blood. He’s not just strong. He’s really strong!
In the end, who the hell is he? Not knowing what to say, I pinch my mouth like that of a goldfish, and he begin striding away with me in his arms. “Hold on, we’re going to run.”
“Come on, wait a minute!”
Stop! I feel nauseous!
I clasp his neck in a daze.
He is strong enough to jump down from there, but it’s clear that I would faint if he run.
If you see rapid changes to the scenery, you would throw up too.
After I hug him as if he’s about to shoot forward, he stops moving.
Huh, he stopped, right?
You’re not moving again, are you?
I shout quickly just in case he would pop up like a spring again. “Where are you going now?”
“To your castle of course.”
My castle? Lily Castle?
My ears burn. After this big accident, I just want to go back to my room and lie in my bed. Before Carolyn came and made trouble for me, I tried my best to go back to my castle and rest. I then nod at him, the servant, who had a ghostly realization of my desperate heart.
Right then, a sweet humming faintly comes through. Perhaps it’s a sign from the window that we opened and jumped from.
