Chapter 34 Angel’s Face
Uradaha Street was bustling even at night. The magic lamps on both sides of the street lit up the place. Lin Ge stood under a streetlamp and asked Celia as he pointed at the Emeralds bar’s entrance, “Can you see that bar?”
“You mean that tavern? Of course.”
“Follow me.”
Lanya was not happy with the fact that Celia could enter the bar, but she had no reason to stop her. Seeing that Lin Ge was leading Celia into the bar, Lanya quickly followed.
Lin Ge turned on the lights in the store, and the soft light filled the room. He then pressed the on-and-off button of the CD player, and soft music flowed through the store.
He took off his magic cloak and placed it on the chair beside the table. Following this, he walked into the bar as if he was walking into his own territory and calmly opened his arms.
“Welcome to the Emeralds.”
Looking around the shop, Celia said in surprise, “Are you the bartender of this tavern?”
“Indeed.”
Lanya jumped onto the high chair in front of the bar counter. She rested her chin on her hands and stared at Lin Ge without blinking. She knew that he was going to make another cocktail. What would it be this time?
“Please take a seat.
Lin Ge extended his right hand and gestured for Celia to sit at the bar counter.
Celia walked over and sat down beside Lanya. She glanced at the wine cabinet behind Lin Ge, which was filled with crystal-clear wine bottles like an artist’s collection.
“What flavor of wine do you like?”
“Sweet,” Celia said after some thought.
“You actually like sweet things?” Lin Ge raised his eyebrows.
He had thought that as a warrior monk, Celia would prefer bolder flavors. He did not expect her to like sweet ones.
“Is it strange?”
“No.”
Lin Ge smiled as he had an idea. He turned around and took an amber bottle from the wine cabinet. The bottle was originally transparent, but the wine inside gave it a gentle amber color.
“What kind of wine is this?”
“Calvados. It’s the name of the place and the name of the wine too. It’s apple brandy, a kind of fruit-distilled wine.”
One of the reasons Lin Ge stayed in the shop was the shop manager’s mysterious purchase channels. When he saw the wines on the wine cabinet the first time he walked into the shop, he had already decided to stay.
Other than that, there were many other good things in the warehouse. Now that he thought about it, it was not strange that this shop was able to get these high-quality wines.
Celia had never heard of Calvados, nor did she know what brandy was. However, there were apples in this world too, so she could roughly understand that the bottle of wine was an apple wine from somewhere.
“Oh, apple wine,”
Seeing that Celia did not seem to think much of it, Lin Ge introduced, “It’s not an ordinary apple wine. This wine was made from more than 30 types of apples from a specific area, each of which has a slight difference in sourness and sweetness. After mixing them, the apples are grounded into a paste and the juice is squeezed out. The juice is left to naturally ferment for no less than six weeks, then goes through two distillation processes one in spring and one in autumn – before they are placed into oak barrels to age. The process takes no less than two years and can last as long as 30 years. The aging period of this bottle is 28 years, which is within the best range.” There might be all kinds of apple wine in this world, but he was sure that no one could find one of better quality than the one in his hand.
The brewing process on Earth had already matured, but this world was obviously still in the budding workshop stage. There was a considerable gap in quality and technology. Celia was obviously intimidated by his words. She licked her lips and her expression became serious.
“Let me have a taste.”
“This is not what I wanted you to drink.”
“What? Why did you take it out if you didn’t let me drink it?” Celia said, raising her eyebrows, “And you’re telling me so much.”
“This is just one of the ingredients,” Lin Ge said with a smile.
He turned around and took another two bottles of wine from the wine cabinet.
“What are these two bottles?” Celia asked.
“Aurum and apricot brandy,”
More names that Celia had never heard of.
Lin Ge then brought over a shaker, a smaller pre-mixed glass, and two tall wine glasses. He raised his hand and water elements gathered in his palm, forming six transparent water cubes that floated slowly.
Then came the freezing magic. The six water cubes were frozen into six pure and flawless ice cubes. Two of the smaller pieces fell into a wine glass, making it cold in advance, while the other four fell into the shaker.
He no longer needed an ice maker. He was an ice maker himself.
Other than that, after learning magic, his spiritual perception had greatly improved, and he no longer needed a jigger.
Pop, pop, pop!
With three soft sounds, the corks of the three wine bottles popped automatically, and the crystal clear wines poured out of the mouth of the bottles in a line, gathering in the air to form an amber liquid ball. Calvados, aurum, and apricot brandy were perfectly mixed in the ratio of 2:3:1, no more and no less.
The shaker was no longer needed. The ice cubes within flew up and entered the water ball. The ice cubes and the wine mixed and began to rotate, emitting a sweet and rich wine fragrance.
Lanya and Celia looked up at the ball of wine, and their beautiful eyes reflected a touch of amber. When they smelled the wine, they couldn’t help but salivate and gulp. Lin Ge, on the other hand, was completely focused. After perfectly mixing the three types of wine, he removed the ice from the wine glass and split the water ball into two balls, which fell into the two wine glasses respectively. Not a single drop spilled. “Here,” Lin Ge gently pushed the two wine glasses to Lanya and Celia.
The slightly frosty glass was filled with amber-colored wine, like a peaceful lake under the setting sun.
Between breaths, the fragrance of the wine wafted into their noses, intoxicating them before they even drank it.
Lanya looked at the wine glass in front of her, then at the wine glass in front of Celia. She suddenly pouted and said, “Why does she have more in her glass than me?”
“It’s called Angel Face,” Lin Ge slowly but explained, “A beautiful and gentle name, it’s actually a type of hard liquor. You can’t hold your liquor well, so I gave you less.”
Only then did Lanya pick up the glass. She sniffed it carefully, then brought her moist lips close to the glass wall and took a sip.
As the wine entered her mouth, her delicate face immediately flushed with pleasure as if she had entered another beautiful world.
Celia could not hold back any longer. The alluring aroma of the wine tickled her, making her heart itch.
When she saw Lanya’s expression of enjoyment, she immediately raised her glass and took a sip as well.
“This is!”
Her beautiful eyes suddenly widened, then she couldn’t help but squint, a lovely blush appearing on her face. The slightly cool wine swirled around the tip of her tongue. The rich apricot and sweet apple gave the wine a slight sourness and an endless aftertaste.
After drinking, the two entered a state of tipsy. Lanya lay on the bar counter, her face flushed while she giggled. Her watery eyes were like amethyst soaked in water.
Celia let out a long breath and put down her glass, “Please let me join your team!”
