A Legendary Thief - Chapter 41
Chapter 41: The Encountered Fight
Escape? It was already too late. If he ran out of the bush, he would become the attacking target and be trampled to a bloody pulp, which would be the most horrible death of the century.
“I hope my luck won’t be too bad.” Xiao Yu stayed put in the bush, waiting for his fate to be fulfilled.
The buffalo herd parted before they came to the bush, rushing past him on both sides. They didn’t run into the bush but past him within five meters. The stomping sound broke out like battle drums, deafening anyone who heard it. The blood in Xiao Yu’s body was boiling, making him feel uncomfortable.
Fortunately, the buffalo herd didn’t charge into the bush, and he hadn’t been trampled to a bloody pulp.
“Buddha must have blessed me!” Xiao Yu felt so relieved.
Most of the buffalo ran past the bush, but 30 or 40 of them stayed behind and surrounded the bush.
Xiao Yu was startled, wondering if he had been discovered. Then, he realized that he was not the target of these buffalo. It turned out that they were interested in the low bush. The buffalo pulled the green leaves off the bush with their mouths and chewed on them.
“I forgot about this.” Xiao Yu figured out why he had survived. These wild buffalo were herbivores, and the bushes were a food resource for them. As a result, Xiao Yu was absolutely safe in the bush because there was no way they would trample their food.
There were more than 30 wild buffalo around him, encasing him in the middle. It seemed that they had no intention of leaving the place any time soon. They probably wouldn’t leave until they finished eating their dinner.
Checking the time of his stealth travel, he saw that he had five seconds remaining. If he didn’t run away from them, he would become food in the pot for these buffalo.
Xiao Yu traveled stealthily toward a patch of the bush where there were less wild buffalo.
Staggering punch!
Xiao Yu knocked one of the wild buffalo unconscious by using staggering punch. Then, he started running away from the bush, passing through a gap between two wild buffalo.
Bang!!!
One of the wild buffalo discovered Xiao Yu and lifted its hind legs, kicking a fleeing Xiao Yu squarely on his back and knocking him up into the air.
Xiao Yu flew in the air backward, and more than 50 points of damage emerged from his head.
He didn’t expect that the wild buffalo would actually help him travel some distance while he was fleeing. He landed on the ground, but he had no courage to linger and started running away as fast as he could.
More wild buffalo discovered him and pursued him with hot breath coming out from their noses.
Hiding skill!
Xiao Yu used the hiding skill and disappeared in an area that was dense with bushes.
The wild buffalo searched for him in the vicinity in frustration. They finally left the area only after they had searched for a long time and ended up with no trace of Xiao Yu.
Xiao Yu showed up in one of the bushes, feeling relieved. It was lucky that he had reacted fast enough. Otherwise, he would have become the target of those wild buffalo.
After this incident, Xiao Yu was more careful regarding the activities of the wild buffalo in the area. He spent 20 minutes traversing the whole area occupied by the wild buffalo and arrived at the bottom of the mountain. He climbed up a hill. The ancient tomb was located somewhere in the midsection of the mountain.
A low and shabby tomb could almost be seen in the distance by the edge of a cliff, and there was a narrow entrance to the tunnel.
Xiao Yu was climbing toward the entrance. Rough and jagged rocks were all over the place. The huge level-9 mountain cats constantly respawned here, and they had attacked him many times on his way up the mountain. But he had resolved all the issues.
As he trekked through the ragged rocks, Xiao Yu drew nearer to the tomb on the mountain. As he passed a crevice among the rocks, he suddenly heard some human voices.
“It seems that we have arrived in the territory of Dyak. Look, it’s the desert up ahead.”
“I didn’t expect the mountain path to lead us to Dyak. No one knows who built this path, but yet, it seems that none of the players from the Evil Federation are nearby.”
“Are you stupid or what? The players, no matter whether they’re from the Evil Federation or the Angelic Federation, are all at a low level right now. It’s understandable that none of them want to come to an area full of level-9 monsters.”
After hearing the conversation, Xiao Yu was taken aback and hid in the rocky crevice. These players weren’t standing far from Xiao Yu, a few meters at most, but they didn’t notice Xiao Yu because he was concealed by the ragged rocks.
Xiao Yu found a proper spot to poke his head out with caution and looked around.
“One, two, three. There are three people in total, a druid, a mage, and a priest.” Xiao Yu wondered what he should do next and how he could evade these players from the Angelic Federation. If they planned to stay in this area for a while, then that would affect him a great deal. It was highly probable that he and they would have an encounter. When players of the two federations met, a battle of life and death would ensue. There were three of them, and Xiao Yu was all by himself, so he was at a disadvantage.
Xiao Yu was hesitant. The survivors ended up the strongmen in this world. “Sorry. Only one side will survive this encounter.” He followed them gingerly while traveling stealthily among the ragged rocks.
The three players didn’t notice that they were being followed and only paid attention to killing the large mountain cats along the path.
Xiao Yu stayed behind these three players and observed them. These three players had decent strength. Judging from their attacks on the sized mountain cats, they should all be at level 6.
“Three level-6 players.” A cold glow flashed in his eyes as Xiao Yu rotated his dagger with the fingers on his right hand. “Live or die.”
But he was not so foolish as to show up right in front of them. As a thief, the sneak-attack skill was his specialty.
Should he attack the druid or the priest? A druid was good at tracking, but a priest was good at treating injuries. If he attacked the druid first, the priest would certainly treat the druid, but if he attacked the priest, he would be tracked down by the druid. And a druid also had treatment abilities.
“I’ll act accordingly,” thought Xiao Yu as he quietly followed behind the three of them. A red flash appeared above a rock that Xiao Yu noticed. With a faint smile, he remarked, “Fortunately, it’s a fire mage rather than an ice or thunder mage.” Though a fire mage could mount a fierce attack, they were not good at controlling their power. On the other hand, ice mages and thunder mages had strong levels of control. Hence, these two types of mages were the most troublesome for thieves.
