Chapter 36: Awaken, Golden Jade Body
“Hahahaha! ROFL! The king of the jungle, the South Chinese tiger, is being called a dog! The reputation is ruined!”
“Look at what you’ve done! Peggy is mad! It stood up!”
“2333! Even Peggy’s furs stood up! It’s okay Mr. Tiger, don’t be angry!”
“Hey, new dude! Don’t simply call the tiger a dog! It’s funny but it’s really a South Chinese tiger Master Su took in!”
Peggy had no idea what happened because it could not read, but judging on Su Yu’s mischievous laughs, it should not be anything good.
Peggy walked over with George and Suzy following behind.
“Growl. What’s the matter?”
Su Yu held the urge to laugh and said, “Nothing. Here, have some porridge.”
He had prepared three bowls of porridge that he put in front of the tigers.
Peggy grinned in disdain.
‘That’s it? Porridge? That’s human food! I am the king of the jungle, the Almighty Tiger! I have been the icon of power throughout a few thousand years of history! I am the South Chinese tiger! The fierce and fearsome South Chinese tiger!’
Peggy growled in disdain. “This is it? I don’t like it.”
“You don’t like it? Really?” Su Yu asked.
“Of course, I don’t like it! No sane South Chinese tiger will like this!” Peggy said.
Su Yu then pointed at the two cubs, George and Suzy. “But they look like they enjoyed it.”
Peggy turned to the cubs and was not happy with what it saw. Both George and Suzy were happily gobbling the porridge from their bowls.
Peggy got angry. “You two useless cubs!”
Then, Peggy smelled something good. It wrinkled its nose, trying to find out where the smell came from.
‘This is good! Where is it from?’
Peggy sniffed around and eventually locked his eyes on the bowl of porridge on Su Yu’s table.
‘The smell is from the porridge? D*mn it! Why does it smell so good?! It’s shiny and it looks so delicious!’
Peggy found itself in a difficult situation.
‘I want to give it a taste, but I just said no sane South Chinese tiger will eat this…It’s not even 5 minutes, and I’m going to eat my own words?!’
‘No! Impossible! I, Peggy, will not eat a single grain of porridge even if I starve to death, die on the road, or jump off the building!’
As Peggy struggled with its own thoughts, the temptation was getting more and more difficult by the second. In the end, it gave in to the temptation of the golden porridge.
Peggy opened his mouth and ate even the bowl.
Su Yu was shocked. “Hold up! D*mn it! Leave the bowl! Spit it out! Spit it out!”
Peggy finished the porridge in a single slurp.
“Growl! D*mn, it’s delicious! Another bowl!”
Su Yu was speechless.
“You b*stard! Didn’t you just say you don’t want any?”
Su Yu then refilled the bowl with porridge.
Peggy ate several bowls of golden porridge continuously as if there was a black hole in its stomach.
Fortunately, Su Yu had cooked a big pot of porridge. Otherwise, it would not have even been enough as dessert.
After having breakfast, Su Yu felt unusually warm. It was as expected of the Golden Jade Rice. He already felt stronger after eating a few bowls.
Unfortunately, he did not awaken the Golden Jade Body effect as claimed by the system. It was normal though because the chances of awakening the skill were next to zero.
The system clearly stated that the chances of awakening the Golden Jade Body were 1/10,000,000, thus it was practically impossible.
He just wanted to give the rice a taste, so he consoled himself.
Then, he suddenly heard a tiger growl in the yard.
“Growl! Ouch! What’s happening to my body?!”
Su Yu was shocked when he saw what happened.
Peggy was taking a lazy nap under the persimmon tree after breakfast, but before it could shut its eyes, steam rose from his body.
The steam was as white as clouds. On top of that, Peggy’s size and fur were also changing. As a South Chinese tiger, Peggy was already huge but it grew bigger and stronger after the porridge.
Its fur also changed from orange to a slight golden. Its orange and black stripes were already intimidating enough, but now with the golden tint, Peggy looked otherworldly.
Peggy had no idea what happened. All it could feel was that it had gotten stronger without a reason. Its claws and fangs got sharper, and even its skin became more tensile.
“Growl! Who am I? Where am I? What happened?” Peggy was stunned.
Fortunately, the viewers of the stream did not see the transformation. If not, they would certainly believe that Su Yu was a cultivator-in-training.
Su Yu looked at the newly transformed Peggy. He was jealous.
“T-this is…Is this the Golden Jade Body? I didn’t awaken it but my tiger did? What is that about? I’m not as good as the tiger?! Who’s the host of the system now?!”
Su Yu was defeated by the facts.
Peggy wanted to test the changes in its body, so it extended its claws and softly clawed the concrete ground.
His sharp claws left several deep marks on the concrete ground.
“Growl! I’m so strong! I’m so strong!”
The tigers were celebrating happily but Su Yu was green with envy in the corner.
“It’s not fair!”
…
While Su Yu was consoling himself, knocks came from the gate.
“Lil’ Yu, are you home? Open the gate.”
It was Uncle Zhang.
Su Yu got up and opened the door.
“Uncle Zhang, what’s the matter?” he asked after opening the door.
Then, he realized that it was not just Uncle Zhang at the door. There were a bunch of people behind him, seemingly from the same organization. There were seven to eight of them with the leader being an elderly man.
Uncle Zhang said, “Lil’ Yu, they are researchers from Beijing who are here for you. Do you know them?”
Su Yu shook his head.
Researchers?
He might have gone to university in Beijing, but after he graduated, the company that he worked in was just a common media company. It had nothing to do with some research team.
“Who are you people?” Su Yu asked.
The elderly man in front of the group answered, “Are you Su Yu?”
Su Yu nodded. “That’s me.”
The man continued, “Let me introduce my team. We are from the Wildlife Research Society of Beijing. I’m Wang Lin, a veteran researcher working on the South Chinese tiger. We got the news that you had several South Chinese tigers with you, so we are here to confirm that.”
“South Chinese tigers? How did you guys find out about them?”
Professor Wang Lin said, “Haha. You have been streaming on Lion Fang, and we saw them on your stream the other day. Su Yu, can you bring us to see the tigers?”
“Uh…okay? If you guys are not afraid, then come in,” Su Yu invited.
Since they claimed they were a research team working for the country, Su Yu ought to cooperate. He had no problem with them taking a look at the tigers.
“Thank you, Su Yu,” Professor Wang Lin said.
Then, he followed Su Yu into his house.
