In the spiritual boat.
Han Li leaned back against one of the boat’s walls and sat down with his legs crossed together. Meanwhile, Le’er quietly sat down beside him and curiously looked around the interior of the spiritual boat, as well as the rapidly changing scenery from time to time.
Gu Yunyue stood at the bow of the boat and steered it as she spoke softly to Yu Menghan, who was right beside her.
After some time, Han Li let out a breath as he slowly opened his eyes, his expression a little dark.
After he woke up, he realized that he could no longer absorb any of the spiritual energy of Heaven and Earth, not to mention using breathing exercises to regain his magic. When he had just regained his consciousness and was still shocked from losing his memories for no apparent reason, he was caught up in the Sky Ghost Sect’s attack and so had yet to investigate this matter.
Now that he tried again, he realized it was still the same.
After pondering for a while, Han Li moved his hand, allowing a white jade bottle to appear in his hand. Opening it, a strong and concentrated herbal smell filled his senses, making him a little more energetic.
He poured out a green pill, before he used two fingers to pick it up. He observed the pill carefully.
This is the Rhyhope pill? I hope it will be helpful. Han Li murmured before he lifted his hand and threw the pill into his mouth. He then closed his eyes and controlled his breathing.
Seeing this, Le’er obediently chose not to disturb him. When she saw Yu Menghan walking towards her after finishing her chat with Gu Yunyue, she hurriedly got up to talk to her. The two girls sat down at the other end of the boat and started to chat softly.
After a while, as the effects of the pill slowly spread out, Han Li suddenly raised an eyebrow. At his abdomen, a warmth slowly spread from his dantian and towards all of the meridians in his body.
After a full cycle, his body felt a lot more at ease and comfortable. That original emptiness he felt within him also improved a little and he could now utilize some magic from his dantian. Although it was trivial, he was still slightly happy about it.
Han Li slowly opened his eyes and clenched his hands a little as he felt the difference. With another movement of his hand, dozens of pills appeared in his palm.
Apart from those he received from Perfected White Stone, some of the pills were from the objects Qi Minghao and that gray-clothed man had. All of them seemed to be for healing purposes, although the quality was mixed and uneven. None of them were of the same quality as the Rhyhope pill.
Han Li picked up a pill and placed it into his mouth before he closed his eyes once more.
However, after a while, he suddenly opened his eyes, a confused look on his face. He then quickly took out another pill and swallowed it once more.
After some time, he opened his eyes once more, his eyes shining a little.
The two pills he ate earlier had no effect at all and they were like a clay oxen entering the sea. He could not feel any effect from the pill, nor did his magic react to it.
Han Li’s expression grew serious as he swallowed pill after pill from his palm.
Very quickly, only a thumb-sized dark golden pill was left in his palm.
The level of this pill was not low and was just below if not the same as that of the Rhyhope pill.
Han Li glanced at this pill with an indifferent expression before he threw it into his mouth.
This time, he was not disappointed and like before, this golden pill’s medicinal effect slowly spread, turning into spiritual power and flowed into his dantian, once more increasing his magic by a little.
Han Li finally relaxed.
As long as pills had an effect on him, regaining his magic would not be too difficult. As for why the other pills had no effect, it was probably because their levels were too low, so the medicinal effect was too weak.
Right at this moment, a slightly hoarse voice rang in his mind.
“Congratulations, Daoist Han. There is hope in recovering your cultivation level.”
“This is just like a tree without roots and water without a source! It’s nothing!” Han Li smiled bitterly, replying with his mind.
“It is better than nothing. With Daoist Han regaining a little of your magic, both of us will have a greater hope in returning to the Immortal World,” Devil Light said softly.
“That is right, but I’m afraid it won’t be that easy,” Han Li slowly replied.
“If the medicine is like this, what about the spirit stones?” Devil Light asked once more.
“Even if you didn’t ask, I was still going to give it a try,” Han Li replied with a smile.
Once he was done speaking, he looked through his belongings and several different-sized green spirit stones appeared on his palm. He tightened his hold on them and the spirit stones immediately shone with a green glow.
When Liu Le’er and Yu Menghan saw the green glow emitted by Han Li, they could not help but glance at him again. However, Gu Yunyue, who was standing by the bow of the boat, remained unmoved.
They saw a green glow slowly flowing out from the spirit stones and the glow circled above Han Li’s palm as it slowly turned hazy.
After some time, that green glow slowly dissipated into the air.
Han Li let go of the spirit stones that had lost their color, his expression dark as he fell into deep thought.
“What’s wrong? You cannot absorb the spirit stone either?” Devil Light’s voice appeared in Han Li’s mind once more.
After some silence, Han Li replied, “Maybe it’s the same as the pills. The level of these spirit stones are too low and the spiritual power they hold are too impure, so I cannot convert them into magic power.”
“If that is true, you should be able to quickly regain your abilities if we have a large amount of high-leveled pills and elite spirit stones.” Devil Light fell silent for a moment before he continued.
“It’s not so simple. I will only know whether supreme-grade spirit stones are useful after trying it out. It’s fortunate that my body and consciousness are still considered strong. Even if I cannot absorb the spiritual energy of Heaven and Earth, they will still recover slowly.” Han Li let out a long breath and said with a slightly depressed tone.
“Daoist Han is too modest. From what I’ve seen, if your body and consciousness are only considered to be stable and firm, then no one in this world can be considered to have rich and powerful ones. Since we have a lead now, I can only hope for you to recover as soon as possible,” Devil Light said softly, before he fell silent once more.
Han Li sighed. He did not find any supreme-grade spirit stones in the storage pouches earlier. If not, he would have tried it already.
He took another look at his dantian and realized that he was at the level of a normal mid-stage Nascent Soul cultivator. If he wanted to continue increasing his power, he had to either absorb the spiritual energy of Heaven and Earth or to swallow higher tier healing pills directly.
At this thought, Han Li furrowed his eyebrows. He could not help but look further into his dantian and observed his body with an penetrative focus.
All he saw was that his entire dantian seemed to be covered in an opaque mist and in the depths of the mist, there was a faint golden hue. It looked a lot like a yellow lamp on a misty night.
Han Li focused in and saw a small person covered in a golden hue. The small person was sitting in the middle of the mist with his legs crossed. He looked exactly like Han Li and that was his Nascent Soul.
His Nascent Soul looked calm and his eyes were slightly closed as his hands rested beside him, it looked like he was deep asleep.
The reason why he could not naturally absorb the spiritual energy of Heaven and Earth had to do with the state of his Nascent Soul. When he had just woken up, he tried to use his consciousness to look through himself, but he realized that he could not enter the inner parts of his Nascent Soul, not to mention waking it up.
If he had not been able to barely feel the spiritual connection with his Nascent Soul, he would have thought that his Nascent Soul was dead.
At this moment, thousands of spells flashed in Han Li’s mind. In the end, he made a gesture with a single hand and after some trembling from the remaining magic in his dantian, it turned into silver talismans that quickly pasted themselves over his Nascent Soul.
Several squeaks sounded.
The moment the silver talismans touched the golden figure’s skin, they immediately exploded into silver light and dissipated.
Han Li’s expression darkened, even though he was not too surprised. He decided to try another spell in his mind and a white glow appeared and slowly surrounded the golden figure in his dantian…
A few hours later.
Han Li opened his eyes and immediately took a deep breath before he managed to swallow the hot mouthful of blood that had just surged up his throat.
While experimenting with his Nascent Soul, he had disregarded his lacking magic and used Soul Tempering Skill—an Immortal World secret skill—and forced his consciousness to enter his Nascent Soul. In the end, a strong and scary force appeared from the Nascent Soul and caused his consciousness to suddenly recoil. His magic was reversed and he suffered greatly from the secret skill’s backlash instead.
It was a good thing his body and consciousness were strong enough. If another person were to be in his shoes, the best outcome would be to experience ruptured meridians, while the heaviest consequence would be to become an idiot from having their consciousness suffer a backlash.
This sequence of events made Han Li expend a bit more of his magic power, causing him to almost drop from the mid-stage Nascent Soul level to the beginner-stage. This made him become more depressed.
