Chapter 28: Shock

The man shouted in fear and he frantically waved his hands about as two rays—one black and one yellow—shot out. The black ray morphed into a dark cane wrapped in an ominous glow and the latter into a bright yellow seal covered in countless runes before they moved to meet the giant mountain looming over him.
A shocking wave of spiritual power burst forth from the two magical treasures. It was clear that they were the man’s secret weapons. The man made several hand seals, as he shouted out without hesitation.
Two ringing blows sounded!
Two giant balls of black and yellow appeared and under the burning flames, they were able to stop the giant mountain falling.
The man hurriedly took this time to move out of its trajectory.
However, the two balls of light only held on for a little more than a second. The man had barely flown about twenty yards away when the mountain was surrounded by a black glow, before it instantly suppressed the two balls of light. The mountain fell onto the ground and created another storm of dust.
The man’s figure could be seen flying out from the wave of dust. His body was not moving as fast as before. His face had turned as pale as a sheet of paper and half of his body was covered in blood as his left arm rested weakly beside him.
Although he avoided the brunt of the mountain, the mountain’s descent was still too quick for him to completely escape out of harm’s way. In that short time, the mountain still grazed his body and he was grievously wounded by it.
Pft!
The man spat out a large mouthful of blood as he fell onto the ground. Fear was written all over his face. However, he immediately gritted his teeth and waved a hand as he took out a white talisman. There were countless small scriptures written on it, looking extremely complicated as it cracked open a ripple in space.
The man continued to mutter on, using all of his remaining magic to activate the talisman.
However, in the next second, an ominous shadow was cast over him again. Howling and piercing wind rung by his ears and another mountain appeared above him, rapidly descending, its speed even faster than the three mountains before.
The man’s expression changed immediately. He needed some time to activate this space talisman.
He hurriedly made a hand seal with his right hand, the black glow around him expanding before they instantly gathered into a black array formation.
The array formation pulsed with a dark light. The five giant ghosts instantly materialized from the array formation, surrounding and protecting the man.
The frenzied eyes of the ghosts surged as they all growled loudly. Ten giant claws burst out with a black glow, spouting rays and rays of black light as they courageously grabbed at the black mountain descending upon them.
Bang, bang, bang!
When the black light touched the mountain, they immediately broke apart. The speed that the mountain was falling slowed down, but it still quickly dissipated all of the rays and pounded down on them ruthlessly.
The five ghosts growled in unison and the black aura surrounding them boiled as their bodies suddenly inflated. Rock-like muscles appeared all over, especially on their hands.
Ten thick arms reached up in unison and once again selflessly grabbed at the black mountain.
However, when the ten arms touched the mountains, they instantly shattered under the crazy force. The five giant ghosts continued to growl loudly and used their bodies to push back against the black mountain.
Their heroic attempts were in vain as the black mountain finally fell onto the five ghosts and created a series of milling sounds as the bodies of the ghosts were ground apart piece by piece.
The giant mountain finally stopped moving.
While the upper bodies of the five ghosts were terribly tattered, they still stood upright. Their feet were sunk deep into the desert. They were like five extremely thick pillars all supporting the giant mountain.
The man underneath let out a sigh of relief. The remaining magic he had available was then injected into the white talisman. The talisman slowly glowed brightly and his expression morphed into elatedness.
However, right at this moment, he heard a despairing bang.
The final giant mountain fell from the sky and landed atop the fourth mountain.
A scary force pressed down and with a crack, the corpses of the five ghosts rapidly exploded into dust.
The man only felt the air around him tighten, paralyzing him with fear.
Two giant mountains suddenly descended and pressed onto him.
The man did not even have any time to cry out before his body was crushed into an unrecognizable paste.
Whoosh.
The bottom of the giant mountain fell into the sand. Suddenly, a golden glow shot out and flew away rapidly with a flash.
Han Li narrowed his eyes to see a tiny golden man of about three feet tall trying to escape. The man looked exactly like the man dressed in black, only that his hair was in a mess. He had an extremely fearful expression and his arms were wrapped around a silver storage pouch as he flew towards the northwest.
It was that man in black’s Nascent Soul!
“Go.”
He grabbed at the void, casually flicked his wrist and a black glow immediately rushed out from his hand and hurriedly flew towards the man’s Nascent Soul.
While Han Li had been fighting the man in black, Gu Yunyue had used several tricks up her sleeves to stabilize the flying boat. She then just happened to glance in Han Li’s direction and all she felt was a sharp twang similar to an arrow being shot out as her eyes were unable to follow the trajectory of that black glow.
In the next second, a loud boom rang out of nowhere and the man’s Nascent Soul exploded into a golden ball of light.
The palm-sized black object also fell from the air. It was actually a normal piece of iron concentrate.
As for the silver storage bracelet the man was holding, with a wave of his hand Han Li easily stowed it away. With another tremble of his figure, the five mountains that had been scattered about shrunk once more. He kept them and jumped back onto the flying boat.
Gu Yunyue stared at Han Li blankly, like she was staring at a stranger.
In her panic earlier, she did not have time to think too much about where the man came from. However, piecing together the man’s words and skills he used, the man had already revealed his identity. The man was called Lu Ya, an early-stage Deity Transformation Elder in the Sky Ghost Sect and he specialized in exorcising ghosts.
Gu Yunyue had once heard of a rather famous story that he could even fight with two Primordial Realm Temple cultivators of the same level as him and still win. This story was the source of his fame and a symbol of his strength.
Yet, this well-known Deity Transformation cultivator was easily killed by Han Li. This was something completely out of her imagination.
The woman finally understood the difference between Han Li and herself. She was incredibly shocked and amazed by his prowess.
“D-Daoist Han, are you really a Nascent Soul cultivator?” Gu Yunyue finally regained her senses as she asked with a bitter chuckle. However, anyone could see the respect and fear on her face.
“Can’t you tell if I’m a Nascent Soul cultivator or not?” Han Li asked in return.
“I can naturally tell your aura and level. However, your capability is too strong and incredible. I’m afraid that even most of our Sect’s Deity Transformation Elders aren’t able to kill people of the same level so easily,” Gu Yunyue replied with a sigh.
“I’ve only a slightly stronger body from cultivation. How would I dare to be compared to the strongest figures in the Cold Fire Sect?” Han Li shook his head, ending the conversation like that. Instead, he turned to glance at Liu Le’er and Yu Menghan, who were still unconscious. He shook his robe and a bright yellow glow appeared before they hovered above the two girls.
With a hum, the two girls finally opened their eyes and woke up with dazed expressions.
Since Liu Le’er was a Foundation Establishment cultivator, she immediately thought of something and sat up in alarm.
“Brother Stone! Just now…”
“Don’t worry. Everything is fine now. We can continue on our way already.” Han Li said gently, as if nothing happened.
“Peak Master, from what Disciple-Niece Gu sent back, this unaffiliated cultivator with the surname Han is definitely not as simple as a normal Nascent Soul cultivator. I didn’t think that Disciple-Niece Gu would uncover such an unexpected find on her trip this time.”
At Cold Fire Sect, in a meeting hall on one of the mountain peaks, a man that looked rough and scary spoke proudly as he stood in front of a gentle-looking middle-aged man.
The middle-aged man looked pale and had no beard, he wore a scholar’s hat and a green shirt. He had a green ancient scroll in his hand and looked like a polite and elegant scholar.
“Since he is able to go against the levels and kill an early-stage Deity Transformation cultivator with just his body’s strength, it seems like he is definitely a high-leveled strength cultivator.” The gentle-looking man nodded his head slightly.
“Hehe, no matter what, it’s really satisfying to make the Sky Ghost Sect lose one of their Deity Transformation Elders so suddenly. I am very interested in this Han guy.” The rough-looking man chuckled with pleasure written all over his face.
Hearing this, the gentle-looking man also smiled. He said, “In this case, you shall welcome him personally. You clearly know what to do, don’t you?”
“Yes,” the man replied firmly.
