A Vampire’s Contract Wife - Chapter 9
Chapter 9: The Battle Begins
Before the conference’s scheduled time, people had already crowded the venue. Every media outlet wanted to get their hands on first-hand information. After all, they rarely had scandalous news of an artist trending day and night like Natalia.
Natalia arrived at the venue, escorted by the bodyguards Vasili had arranged for her. Even so, the enthusiastic press still managed to crash through the bodyguards’ protective circle, and nearly pressed the microphone against Natalia’s nose a few times.
“Miss Natalia, it’s been many years since your last activity. Did TY freeze you?”
“Is this a gimmick that you came up with to make a comeback?”
“Did you purposely stay at the top of the search rankings just to make yourself famous again? In that case, are you trying to steal Miss Irina’s achievements and skyrocket into fame as an international model?”
Natalia was trapped in the crowd, unable to advance or retreat.
Seeing this, Vasili had no choice but to send in more bodyguards to take control of the situation and prevent chaos.
Standing on the stage, all the lights fell on Natalia. Meanwhile, she was swarmed by a constant stream of questions from below the stage.
Natalia took over the microphone and cleared her throat. “I’m sorry for causing such a huge commotion because of me. I’m sorry!”
Natalia bowed deeply to the audience and all the cameras.
A look of sorrow appeared on her face. Seeing that the reporters below the stage had gradually quieted down because of her words, she continued, “This time, I was the one who acted on my own accord to replace Miss Irina for the jewelry showcase. The decision was all mine. It has nothing to do with Miss Irina and TY Entertainment. I’ll bear all the negative consequences.”
Instantly, there was an uproar.
Nobody expected Natalia to take all the blame without coming up with any excuses. She even removed all blame from TY and Irina.
“Miss Natalia, why did you do this? You’re going to become Mrs. Vasili soon, aren’t you? Do you still care for such clout? Or is there more than meets the eye?”
Seeing that the reporters below the stage started to ask about something different, the public relations officer who had been on standby immediately went on stage and snatched the microphone from Natalia’s hand.
“As for the reason, it’s naturally because she did it for fame. No one wants to be forgotten so easily after experiencing how it’s like being at the top. I can understand this feeling, and I believe everyone can understand it. However, I hope, Miss Natalia, this is the last time you do something like this.”
After this righteous speech, the entire press conference ended. They did not give Natalia a chance to speak for herself.
It seemed like Vasili and Irina were more vicious than Natalia thought. Not only did they want her to bear all the blame, but they also wanted to destroy her completely. This would ensure that she could no longer stir up more waves.
Alex, who had been swirling a wine glass in his hand, watched the broadcast of the conference. The crimson liquid in the glass rippled as he swirled his glass about.
The assistant standing behind him was a little concerned. He could not help but ask, “Mr. Bruch, should we interfere?”
“No need.” Alex waved his hand.
This newlywed wife of his was not an ordinary person. He believed that she had more up her sleeve—without a doubt, she would bring him more surprises.
