A Walk-on Actor Who Wants to Be A Baker - Chapter 18
Chapter 18: That’s certainly true love.
Translator: Flying Lines
Having hung up the phone, Lu Yanzhou said to Han Jiayue, “You’re the boss. The coupling hype is over temporarily.” While saying these words, Lu didn’t seem to feel guilty as if he really had done it for Han.
Han thought, “Oh, Man.”
After coaxing Han away, Lu lost in thought. He was too careless this time. He had planned to help Fang Qiao by the way, but he hadn’t expected that he could overreach himself. It was mainly because he forgot Fang had been left behind on the starting line for too long, and therefore it would surely arouse disgust to hype rashly without any mass base.
Lu was not reconciled with his eager to win haunting. He made all of those small stars who had stuck to him famous. So was there any difficulty if he truly intended to make Fang popular? Definitely no.
Slapping on the desk, Lu immediately informed the directors of the film and television resources department to let them prepare a couple of scripts for the meeting the next day, at which they would have a discussion.
The shameful stories about Fang on Weibo had almost disappeared till dusk, which made Fang feel a little surprised. He didn’t expect Lu could be so easy-going, and the trouble was settled with just a phone call.
Fang didn’t know how to repay Lu for his kindness. He wondered whether the sugar daddy could make some dirty requests, like a special sexual position next time.
When he was thinking, Lu called.
“Fang Qiao, come to the company to pick up a script tomorrow.”
Fang responded, “I don’t have to pick one, Mr. Lu. I can play even walk-on parts.”
Lu said seriously, “No more walk-on parts! Take part in a couple of good films. Only if you get good works can you gain a firm foothold, and won’t be blown down easily like this time.”
Being quite moved, Fang said sincerely, “Mr. Lu, why are you so nice?”
These words really went into Lu’s inner heart, which naturally made him feel complacent. However, soon Fang asked, “If I become famous one day, can I still expect the 20 cake shops?”
In Fang’s heart, a cake shop was more important.
Feeling upset, Lu replied with a cold face, “Well, it depends on your performance.”
The next day, Fang’s agent, the manager of film and television investment department, as well as Tan Hao gathered at the presidential meeting room to jointly discuss the career development of Fang Qiao.
In the past, only Tan Hao might have taken up this kind of matter, and the boss didn’t need to appear personally. The manager of the film and television investment couldn’t hold back his curiosity. Therefore, he asked the other two guys furtively before the boss came, “What’s the background of the guy brought here by Mr. Lu today?”
Playing on his phone, Tan Hao replied without raising his head, “Fang Qiao, a walk-on.”
Being honest, the manager asked directly, “ A new lover?”
“An old one.”
Tan Hao was quite clear about the relationship between Fang and Lu. Having been kept as Lu’s lover for nearly three years, Fang hadn’t been very intimate with Lu, but he hadn’t been abandoned by Lu either, which was quite extraordinary since Lu used to change lovers frequently.
What was more extraordinary was that Lu raised a big rumpus to arrange resources for Fang suddenly, which was interesting.
Being sensitive, the manager drew a conclusion at once, “Having been hidden for such a long time, the guy must be Mr. Lu’s true love.”
While he was saying, Lu and Fang walked in one after another.
With a big bag in hand, Lu nodded to the three men present at first, and then turned around to ask Fang, “Why do you give me a gift suddenly?”
Fang replied lovably, “Thank you for helping me yesterday.”
So thoughtful! Lu nodded with satisfaction, and opened the bag in front of the people present.
The smile on his face froze in an instant.
“What’s this?”
“Long johns.”
Fang thought he was such a considerate little lover. He knew Mr. Lu had been paying attention to health recently, so he just catered to Mr. Lu’s need specially.
Lu frowned, “It is already spring.”
“Just as the saying goes we should be warmly dressed in spring and don’t have to be so in autumn. It is easy to catch a cold when the temperature in spring hasn’t gone up, so it is necessary to keep warm.”
The manager who was sitting on the edge really shed tears when he saw the scene. He kept sighing in his heart, “It’s true love. True love.”
Lu, putting away the long johns silently, got down to business.
The manager took out a couple of scripts which were looking for actors. The first script was a fashion idol drama, which was a formulaic story about a domineering boss falling in love with a Cinderella, and the hero of which hadn’t been determined. The script quality was low, but with short shooting circle and quick money benefits, it was suitable for those young actors who had obtained certain attention.
Casting a glance at Fang who was listening to the explanation of the script blankly, Lu thought Fang didn’t look like a domineering boss at all, so he shouted directly, “Pass.”
The second script was a drama about war era which would be put on TV with good director and scriptwriter. Besides, it was not a formulaic story about tearing enemies with hands.
Lu got interested, and asked, “Which role hasn’t been decided?”
The manager answered, “Chairman Mao.”
Fang, “…”
The following scripts were embarrassing too. Either the quality was too low, or the role was unsuitable. Lu’s head got painful, and after rubbing his temples, he asked Tan Hao, “Has the movie of Ye Ran started up or not?”
“Not yet. The actors might gather next week.”
“Can you fit someone in?”
Tan Hao understood immediately, “The role of Ye Ran’s teenage years is good. Although it’s not a major part, the role is lovable. It suits Fang Qiao well.”
Lu Yanzhou nodded. Having read the script before, Lu was impressed by the role.
Tan continued, “But the role has been taken.”
Lu asked, “By whom?”
“Sun Yingzhe.”
