Chapter 51: Chapter 51: Don’t Cry! Timid And Useless, Garbage!
The young girl looked at the precious soul-summoning incense sticks in her hand, which she had broken into several pieces.
Looking at Feng Jinxuan with resentment, sorrow, and anger on her face, she demanded, “Hey, Feng Jinxuan! This is made of five-hundred-year-old ambergris incense material, thousand-year-old ebony wood filings, and rosewood from the big coffins in the tombs. The effectiveness of this soul-summoning incense is much higher than those scraps you use at home. You must help me glue the sections together. Otherwise I will not help you find his girlfriend’s soul!”
Afterward, to Gong Siyu’s surprise, his cold, lofty, aloof, noble, vand reserved best friend, who usually kept a distance from all women, actually sat down with a smirk and patiently glued together the sections of the broken soul-summoning incense for the young girl who was squatting on the ground in front of them…
“Glue them together tightly, or it’ll break, and his girlfriend’s soul will get lost.”
“Okay.”
In just a short while, Gong Siyu saw that Feng Jinxuan had glued together all the broken pieces of the soul-summoning incense.
The incense sticks were a greenish-gray color, just like the joss sticks that were generally used for incense offerings. However, these soul-summoning incense sticks would give off a strong exotic fragrance.
“Feng Jinxuan, help me light up twenty-four of them.”
The young girl was bossing Feng Jinxuan around, ignoring the fact that he had an extraordinary status.
Feng Jinxuan was too stunned to hear her words.
“Twenty-four? So many? I thought you can’t bear to use them?”
“A few more would give off a stronger smell and the effect would be better.”
The young girl stuck her thumbs up at Gong Siyu and Feng Jinxuan, exclaiming, “Don’t worry, you can count on me!”
“Thank you. I’m willing to give you ten times whatever honorarium you want afterwards,” Gong Siyu said. Knowing that Ji Younai was practically saved, he looked gratefully at the mysterious girl who was dressed strangely.
She said in a slightly low voice, “No need for that, I have plenty of money.”
While speaking, she took out a heavy piece of pure-gold gold nugget and tossed it at Gong Siyu with a loud dangling sound.
She was rather straightforward.
Everything had been prepared. The 24 soul-summoning incense sticks were lit, drifting away with wisps of smoke….
The mysterious girl, who was wearing a red pleated skirt, stood beside the hospital bed.
She chanted the Soul-Summoning Incantation and sealed it with all of her fingers.
She moved her fingers towards Ji Younai, who was lying on the bed, and put them on her forehead.
In an instant, a bright red light rapidly poured out from the gaps between her fingers at a speed that was invisible to the naked eye. It then drifted further and further away, like a faint ribbon of smoke…
–
On the banks of the Yellow River of the Naihe Bridge of Helplessness [1. In Chinese mythology, it is a bridge every soul has to cross before being reincarnated.], the yin and the yang are separated by life and death.
A ghostly fog hangs around the river and flowers bloom near the banks.
There were blood-red flowers along the Naihe River that were dreamy, stunning, and bizarre all at once.
Along the Naihe River, where tens of thousands of spirits were gathered, one could look beyond the fog and see the grand but eerie ancient palace that was situated at the highest peak of the mountain range, which was the center of power of this realm.
There was an existence there that ruled over tens of thousands of ghosts.
Her figure was somewhat ghostly, illusory, and transparent, her hair all messed up.
The disheveled Ji Younai lay on the cold ground. A sudden chill and ghostly eeriness caused her to jolt awake.
She was well aware that the moment before she lost consciousness, she felt an immense wave of pain, which felt as if her soul and body were being forced to separate.
Panicking, she crawled up from the ground.
Ji Younai looked around. Her beautiful eyes widened as she looked around in disbelief. She was in a domineering-looking ancient palace.
It was brightly lit, with countless ancient lamps hanging from the ceiling. The candles were dim and flickered like ghostly flames. There were ten huge statues of gods with faces like those of ghosts and demons, five on the left and five on the right. They were standing side by side, as intimidating as fiendish ghosts. Ji Younai had to crane her neck very high to see them clearly.
They were extremely terrifying.
On the ten black- gold stairs not far away, there was a black-gold chair and a table that had a carving of a black and gold skull. Above the chair, there was a black and gold plaque inscribed with the words ‘First Great Hall’ in strong, domineering-looking block letters.
‘Where is this place? ‘Where am I?’
She looked around the bizarre, empty hall with tear-filled eyes.
She turned around to see that the large, tightly shut doors that were painted red had suddenly opened!
Ji Younai was instinctively terrified, to the extent that she shriveled up and hugged herself in fear.
She didn’t dare cry out, only biting her lip, even though her eyes were already overflowing with tears.
The moment the palace doors opened, the entire palace’s candles became eerily dim.
It was as if a creepy and chilly gale had poured in.
Three figures appeared out of thin air at the entrance of the palace.
One was smiling, while the other looked cold and ruthless.
One was black and one was white. They were the two men in suits who had knocked her out!
There was another man standing beside them.
He was wearing a menacing-looking ghost mask and a reddish-violet, broad-sleeved robe with ghostly patterns embroidered on it. Holding a brush in one hand and a book in the other, he was scribbling something down in the book.
The three men looked ghostly and terrifying, but they seemed rather pure. They stepped towards the center of the palace and bent forward to bow respectfully to the empty black and gold dragon thrones, before speaking in unison.
“I, the humble Black Impermanence[1], Commander Fan Wujiu!”
“I, the humble White Impermanence, Commander Xie Bi’an!”
“I, the humble Ghost Judge!”
“Greetings, King Jiang!”
The air seemed to have frozen for a moment.
Then, the listless Ji Younai heard an ethereal, cold, aloof, emotionless, and majestic emperor-like voice sounding in the empty palace, as if an emperor had arrived.
“Is this the person you were ordered to seek? A crybaby?”
“Yes!”
The White Impermanence Commander Xie Bi’an was wearing a plain, but elegant brocade white robe and a tall, white hat. He smirked.
With a look of bewilderment in his long, narrow eyes, he asked Fan Wujiu softly, “Lord Black, what is a crybaby?”
“Someone who loves crying,” the Black Impermanence Commander Fan Wujiu explained softly in a cold manner.
The Ghost Judge at the side, Ling Shiyin, noticed that Fan Wujiu and Xie Bi’an were whispering to each other, after which a charming voice came from behind, “Commanders, you’re so affectionate with each other that you’re making others envious.”
The White Impermanence, Xie Bi’an, was just about to say, “If you’re jealous, look for one too”, when he was startled by a sudden high-pitched shriek.
He shuddered and leaped into Fan Wujiu’s arms. Patting his chest in fright, he exclaimed, “What a scary shriek!”
In just a moment, the Black and White Impermanence commanders and the Ghost Judge cast their gazes towards the source of the sound in astonishment.
Ji Younai was the one who had screamed.
Why did she suddenly scream?
It was because the King Yama of the First Palace, King Qin’guang, Jiang Ziwen, had suddenly appeared in front of Ji Younai. His fiendish black face was right in front of her. That terrifying appearance was used by King Yama to scare and fend off ghosts.
His bloodthirsty green fangs were terrifying, and his blood-red eyes were bulging. It was as if the devil had descended.
Overwhelmed with fear, Ji Younai was horrified.
She had initially only teared up, not daring to cry.
However, she burst into tears the instant she saw the horrifying face before her!
Large teardrops rolled down her cheeks as she looked terrified and helpless, like a petrified bunny.
Seemingly annoyed by her crying, the tall and burly King Qin’guang, who was wearing a terrifying devil mask, suddenly waved his hand and grabbed Ji Younai’s collar. He picked her up, looking like he wanted to destroy her.
A deafening bark immediately filled the entire grand palace.
“Why are you crying!? Don’t cry! You’re timid and useless, you piece of garbage!”
