Seeing that the Xia family had arrived, a few ladies smiled and invited them to take a seat.
Youguang saw several children squatting or standing on the grass in the distance. Shi Tongyang was amongst them. There was a bigger boy beside him. His eyebrows and facial features looked very familiar. As expected, it was Little Zhang Kejiu.
To think that Zhang Kejiu and Shi Tongyang knew each other when they were young. Ning Youguang was surprised by this.
“Is Dai Dai holding hands with the daughter of Youqing?” The ladies in their seats turned their attention to the two small children as they approached them.
Everyone was curious about the little girl’s identity. Since everyone there was acquainted, Zhang Xuexi’s wife, Cui Hong, directed the question at Ruan Qiulan with a smile. The latter smiled and tacitly conceded.
“Little girl, is your name Youguang?” Zhao Fei’er, who was sitting in the crowd, immediately asked with a smile.
“Has Mrs. Shi seen You You before?” Xie Haitang wondered how the young lady of the Shi family knew her niece’s name.
“It’s my Yang Yang who often tells me about Ning Youguang. You do know they’re classmates right?”
“What a coincidence. I really didn’t know.” Xie Haitang replied.
“Then I’ll introduce you to my son when he comes over later. In future, our families should get together more frequently.” Although the Shi family was rich, they had only attained their wealth a few decades ago. They belonged to the new money family in Jin City.
The prominent old money families in Jin City were Xie Haitang’s maternal family, the Xie family, the Xia family, which she married into, and the Ning family, which were the in-laws of the Xia family.
Zhao Fei’er felt that she had made the right decision to come today. She was now able to use her child to get close to the Xia family and the Ning family, who were old money folks.
Zhao Fei’er showed overt enthusiasm for Youguang and showered her with all kinds of flattery.
Youguang endured the awkwardness of the situation and quietly waited for Xia Huan to finish eating so that they could leave.
She was still a child.
After eating and drinking with Xia Huan, the two of them got up arm in arm and went to look for their brothers and sisters.
By the time they reached the spot where they came from, they realized that their siblings and other children had joined in the young crowd that was playing music a short distance away.
The group of youths were dressed in the latest fashion. They were seated on picnic mats on the grass and the mats were filled with food and drinks.
One of the boys in a baseball cap and a white T-shirt was playing the guitar. The others were drinking and singing along with the group.
The teenagers were bursting with energy and fervor, the music sounding from their fingertips was cheerful and bright. Landing on everyone’s ears was a melody that brought joy and cheer.
The children were also captivated by the music. Several of them squatted at the side in rows—watching on with their chubby hands holding their faces—while the teenagers played the guitars.
Xia Chen and the Xie siblings were a little older. They stood behind the children and watched over them while listening to music.
The teenagers were also very happy to see a group of cute little kids. A young lady in a floral skirt took some snacks and asked the children if they wanted to eat it.
On her side, a young and cool lady who was dressed fashionably in an oversized black T-shirt suddenly widened her eyes and reached out to pat the girl beside her.
“Oh my God, I’ve seen an angel.”
“What angel?”
The girl in the black T-shirt was quite loud. The teenagers and children all heard her exclaim.
The guitar player stopped playing the guitar and looked at her in confusion like everyone else.
Seeing that everyone was staring at her, the girl in the black T-shirt reached out and pointed towards the two children she saw.
“There! Look, that little girl is as good-looking as an angel!”
Everyone looked in the direction of her finger and saw two adorable children.
The little boy was fair and chubby. He was licking the cream around his mouth as he walked. One look and you would know that he was a foodie.
However, the angel that the girl was referring to was probably the little girl beside him.
The girl was a little shorter than the boy. She was wearing a white dress with little white shoes. Standing on the grass that was dotted with scattered flowers, she looked so pure and beautiful in the spring light. It seemed like a little angel had descended from the sky. It was such a beautiful sight.
Seeing that his siblings had come over, Xia Chen walked towards them.
Shi Tongyang’s eyes widened in surprise. He had not expected to see Classmate Youguang here at all. He ran towards her with a smile and yelled.
“Youguang, Youguang!”
“Wow, so the little angel is your friend,” the ladies asked the children happily.
“She’s our sister,” Xia Huan replied.
‘Are you all family?’
“No, they’re the children of Uncle and Auntie.” The Xie siblings pointed at the children.
“The kids in your family are so good-looking,” the teenagers who were playing music earlier exclaimed.
Xia Chen brought Ning Youguang and Xia Dai and joined the crowd. The two little kids were warmly welcomed.
Shi Tongyang stood beside Ning Youguang and kept talking to her.
The teenagers and young kids had great fun. The teenagers often asked the children what songs they would like to hear. Then they would patiently play the tunes that the children had picked out.
Even when the impossibly kiddish Two Tigers Song was chosen, the teenager responded with smiles and patience. Their actions were a sharp contrast to their cool appearance.
The youths realized that Xia Chen also knew how to play the guitar and enthusiastically passed the guitar to him. Then, the group of young people, along with the children, cheered him on and insisted that he play a song for everyone.
Xia Chen refused initially but realized that he wouldn’t be let off so easily, so he generously played a song for them.
And he really played quite well.
The atmosphere instantly reached a new climax. The youths cheered in unison and the children clapped so hard in their excitement that their palms turned red.
Youguang’s eyes were sparkling.
She stood, smiling in the crowd, watching her cousin play the guitar.
She thought, What was I doing at this time in my previous life?
She was probably deeply immersed in the chaos of her family. She must be watching her parents arguing day and night. She was always obsessed over why they were always busy with work and couldn’t accompany her properly. Why was she always dictated by her grandparents to learn this and that…
