Chapter 46: It’s Her!
Dongfang Haochen took the portraits and unrolled one of them. The first one he saw was a woman with a manner that couldn’t be found elsewhere in the world. She had above average beauty and an elegant air around her. Her eyes looked fairly similar to the young lady in the cave he had seen that day. But the young lady in the cave was as pretty as a fairy, even with her eyes closed, and he didn’t know how much prettier she would be with her eyes opened.
He unfurled the other portrait, and there was a joy in his heart. That’s right! This was the girl!
It was an eight-year-old girl with a smile reflecting in her phoenix shaped eyes. She had extremely exquisite features, and this portrait looked at least 70% like the young lady in the cave. The remaining discrepancy lay in the difference in the age and the aura of the young lady when he had seen her.
He carefully put the portraits away and made his way back to the manor.
……
It was nearly 8:00 PM, and the sky was covered with stars.
“I’ve slept for four hours… that was so comfortable.” She stretched herself lazily. Even her voice had the laziness of one who had just gotten out of bed.
Tealwood was about to wake his master up.
Creaaaak… She opened the door first.
Qingcheng had just woken up, so she didn’t look as cold as she normally did. She looked a little cute and groggy.
She put her mask on and said, “Let’s go take a walk in the streets and buy some things.” Even her voice wasn’t as cold as before.
They took Yan Xuan along, and all three of them went out together.
They walked along the wide street. Carriages drawn by large Magical Beasts often drove along these roads, so the ones found here were wider than modern lanes by at least three to four times.
Even after having lived through two lifetimes, this was the first time Feng Qingcheng had gone window shopping.
There were all sorts of things on display by the side of the street. There were various kinds of daily necessities, pretty little accessories that girls liked, and more.
Qingcheng was very curious about all these things. It couldn’t be helped; she hardly felt the urge to go window shopping like this. The lights along the two rows of shops were bright and glaring.
Of course, these weren’t like modern day lights. These were luminous rocks, which were more commonly found. They weren’t as bright as luminous pearls, but they weren’t expensive. These rocks plus candles would make a room pretty bright.
They passed by a shop called Embroidered Robes. The entrance was luxuriously decorated, and it was a clothing shop.
They went in to find that the shop was extremely large, and they even used luminous pearls for lights. A neatly dressed middle-aged man saw the three of them walk in, so he quickly hurried over and smiled brilliantly at them as he said, “Hello sirs, welcome to my shop. I am the owner of this store, so if you need anything, you can call for me.” He then walked away to let them continue looking around the place.
Qingcheng looked at the clothing in this shop and found that they had all sorts of designs for both men and women, and the material used was pretty good. But these designs weren’t very suitable for her. The womenswear was alright, but the designs were a little too complex.
They were way more complex than the dresses she had inside her interspace, and they seemed very heavy too. The menswear was more like her style and simpler in design. They didn’t have as many complicated accessories.
“Boss, do you have a hundred pieces of this menswear in black in stock?” asked Qingcheng.
The boss immediately ran forward to answer her. “Sir, if you want a hundred pieces of ready stock, we don’t have that many. We only have fifty at the moment. But, if you’re not in a hurry and you don’t mind waiting for a few more days, we can rush the other fifty out for you and deliver them to your doorstep,” the man said. A huge business deal had suddenly fallen from the sky, so the shopkeeper was more than happy to serve her.
“That will do as well.” After that, she asked again, “Does your shop allow customers to provide you with patterns to tailor clothing?”
The shopkeeper heard her request and immediately answered happily, “Sure, we could do that. We’ve never done this before, but if you would like to do so, we will be happy to allow your request.”
“Do you have paper and a brush?” asked Qingcheng.
“Sir, please give me a few moments. Why don’t you take a seat here and have some tea first? I’ll go get the things you need,” he said.
He brought Qingcheng and her companions to a small table with chairs by the side, and they sat down. The shopkeeper immediately called out, “Yang! Get our guests some tea. Also, bring paper, a brush, and ink over!”
In no time, someone came over with the tea as well as some writing instruments. Qingcheng picked up the brush, covered it with some ink, then started drawing on the paper.
Fifteen minutes later, the table was covered with several pieces of paper, and they were all dress patterns. Some of them looked like modern clothing, with form-fitting shirts and long pants, and they included both menswear and womenswear.
Besides these pantsuits, there were simple dresses as well as casual women’s pants. The women on this continent generally only wore dresses and almost never wore trousers, but Qingcheng preferred wearing fitting pants. Even if she couldn’t wear them out often, she could at least wear them when she was training or cultivating. Also, she drew several pairs of shorts and spaghetti strap tops to serve as pajamas.
Once she was done drawing, everyone watching her was wide-eyed and speechless. What clothes were these?? They looked pretty nice… they could understand some of the clothes, but what were those patterns that used such a small piece of fabric? Were those wearable?
Qingcheng had no idea what was going through their heads. She wrote down her requirements and fabric choices for all the various pieces and also included measurements and the quantity she wanted before handing all of them to the shopkeeper.
“Alright now, you can take these to be tailored. I’ve written all my requirements on the papers. I hope we’ll have a good working relationship. If everything turns out well, I don’t mind becoming a regular customer here. But…” Qingcheng looked at the shopkeeper and continued, “I don’t want any of these patterns to be leaked… yes?” Her tone suddenly became threatening.
The shopkeeper snapped out of his shock and replied, “Yes, yes! Of course! Please rest assured! We have branches all over the continent, and Wei City alone has several stores. We hire all of our seamstresses in-house. So, you can be assured that we’ll definitely get everything done to your satisfaction.” He could understand where she was coming from. These dress patterns were definitely worth a lot of money!
“Excellent. I’ll pay you in full for the ready stock and the remaining 50 pieces I’ve ordered, then I’ll put in a deposit for the ones I want to be tailored. How’s that?” she asked.
The shopkeeper immediately broke into a big smile. “Of course, that’s good with me! Please take a seat here. I will calculate how much everything costs and come back.” He carefully took the patterns away and hurried off with light steps.
After the shopkeeper walked away, Yan Xuan quickly asked, “Master, was everything you drew clothing?” He was really very curious!
Qingcheng picked up the teacup, blew on it, then took a small sip. She replied slowly, “Yes, they are. You’re curious?” She figured that they would be curious about these clothes after seeing them.
Yan Xuan immediately replied in an excited tone, “Yes! Yes! Master, those clothes you drew look really nice, and they look suitable for dueling and fights! It’s just that… what were those last few patterns that just used two pieces of cloth?” He initially thought that it might be the bodice that women wore as underwear, but that wasn’t right either. Those bodices only had a piece of cloth in front and didn’t have anything in the back! Also, the bodices had a ribbon for tying around the neck and the waist, but… the pattern his master drew had cloth on both sides and two thin straps over the shoulders. And more curiously, were those things that looked like pants also considered pants? But they were so short… were they really for wearing?
Tealwood was also very curious… He had seen all sorts of clothing that humans wore, but this was the first time he saw ones such as these.
Qingcheng glanced at the two of them and quietly replied, “Pajamas.” Then she ignored them and continued to drink her tea.
The two of them couldn’t process this at all in their minds…
Yan Xuan thought to himself, “My goodness! How are those pajamas? What part of that looks like pajamas?!” Men usually wore a long-sleeved top with long pants. Otherwise, they would just go with a pair of long pants, while the women would… AHEM… at least have a bodice on top and long pants below. He had really never heard of such pajamas before in his entire life…
Their master was really knowledgeable after all…
