Chapter 58: Purchased
Dongfang Haochen only looked away after they had left. He had been very careful not to stare too intensely when he watched them. Otherwise, Qingcheng’s sharp senses would discover him immediately.
Just after they left, he immediately murmured, “Go and send instructions out. The house next door must be sold to them,” as though he was speaking to himself.
Darkguard had no idea why his Young Master was doing this, but his Young Master’s words were always right, so he immediately responded from the shadows, “Yes, Young Master. I will attend to it right now.”
Qingcheng and the rest walked down two streets to reach the office that was in charge of the properties that belonged to the monarchy. The moment they walked through the door, Yan Xuan said to one of the staff, “Hello there. We would like to buy the manor that’s next to Prince Chen Manor. Could I ask if…?” Before Yan Xuan could finish his sentence, the staff member immediately ran up to them in an excited manner.
First, he bowed to them, and then he put on a bright smile. “You would like to buy that empty house? Sure! Sure! Would you like to see the house first, or settle the procedures before viewing?” He watched the three of them as he spoke. The staff member observed that, out of the three of them, one was wearing a mask over his face, but there was an exceptionally distinguished aura around him.
Of the other two, one was more handsome than average, but he was expressionless and looked rather cold. Plus, there was a slight authoritative aura around him that came from a high level cultivator. The other was clean-shaven with a gentle demeanor, so he looked more amicable.
All three of them were a little puzzled by how friendly the staff was about this. Yan Xuan was the most puzzled of them all. When had the staff of the royal office become such agreeable people? These people were normally very snobbish.
He was puzzled but also relieved. Since this staff was so eager, it would save them a lot of trouble. Yan Xuan didn’t beat around the bush and replied, “We don’t need to view the house; we’ll just proceed with the purchase. How much is this manor?”
The staff didn’t ask any further questions, either. “Sure, no problem. The price is negotiable. Please come with me. You just need to sign the agreement and pay the full amount, and the house is yours.”
Qingcheng replied, saying, “Sure.” Just one cold and aloof word told the staff that this man was the one in charge of the other two and that he was the actual customer. The staff member quickly pulled all the necessary documents together.
He became especially respectful towards Qingcheng. “Sir, this is the deed for the land, and here is the agreement for the manor itself. I will just need you to sign your name here. I need you to sign two copies, one is for you, and the other is for our records.”
Qingcheng picked up the brush and wrote ‘Qing Huang’ on the papers.
The staff member looked at the name and was puzzled. He didn’t know of any family with the surname ‘Qing’ in Wei City. But since this man exuded such an extraordinary aura, he was probably from a rich and powerful family in another city or nation.
“Mister Qing, you may have this manor for just 5,000 gold coins.” He had been given instructions to just randomly quote an arbitrary amount…
“What? 5,000 gold coins?” Yan Xuan couldn’t believe that such an estate would be so cheap…
“That’s right, 5,000 gold coins. Would you like to pay in cash or by card?” The staff member didn’t want to sell it so cheaply, either. However, he had instructions from the top, and he didn’t want to offend that particular person unless he was tired of living.
“Card please,” said Qingcheng as she handed over her Black Crystal Card.
The staff’s eyes widened… Black Crystal? It was really a Black Crystal Card! Oh my god! No wonder he had instructions from that man! He was so glad he had listened well to those instructions.
He tried his best to suppress the unnatural look on his face and also tried to keep his hands from trembling as he took the Black Crystal Card from her. Even after he had deducted the necessary amount and returned the card to Qingcheng, he still hadn’t calmed down.
“Mister… Mister Qing… here is the housing agreement and deed. P-Please… be careful with them,” he said nervously as his palms were already beginning to sweat.
Qingcheng took everything from him and was puzzled as to why this man was so nervous for no reason. She didn’t understand what was wrong with him, but she didn’t ask either. After all, this man wasn’t important to her at all.
