Chapter 8: Overcame the Crisis to Become a Sacred Beast

Tealwood was now trying to get over the barrier to the next level. If he could get over the barrier and overcome this crisis successfully, he would become a Sacred Beast. But if he failed to overcome the barrier, he would be completely consumed, bones and all.
The change in the sky was seen by all the Magical Beasts, as well as the two men who had rushed in that direction.
The Magical Beasts were both shocked and excited at first. “It’s the process of overcoming the crisis to level up! A Magical Beast is actually trying to overcome this crisis! A Magical Beast is going to rise to Sacred Beast level!”
It had been centuries since Langya Magical Beast Forest had seen a Sacred Beast. The highest level among them was only Level Six Peak Phase.
It was rare to hear of a Sacred Beast, even throughout all of the eastern part of Star Continent. Tealwood’s struggle to overcome this crisis brought hope to the rest of the Magical Beasts, so it was only natural that they were also shocked.
When they saw this happening, they started moving even more swiftly in his direction, afraid that they might miss something.
The two men who had been running in the same direction became even more eager to find out what was going on, so they also picked up speed.
The other Windblast Wolves didn’t have any time or energy to notice what was happening around them. Tealwood could feel that the Spirit Qi within his body had reached a fullness like never before, and this felt different from the other times he had leveled up.
He looked up at the sky above and realized that he was about to overcome the crisis to become a Sacred Beast. So he put aside all other thoughts that might distract him and focused on receiving the lightning bolt that was going to strike him.
KEBBOOOOOM…
Some lightning began to flash among the clouds in the sky and looked like it might strike any minute. All the other Magical Beasts running over had managed to reach the spot before the first bolt of lightning came down.
They were all shocked and looked on in disbelief at the Windblast Wolf King, surrounded and protected by a ring of other Windblast Wolves.
Tealwood had also noticed that a huge group of Magical Beasts had come, but he couldn’t think about that now. He focused his attention and energy as he waited for the lightning bolt to strike him. The other Windblast Wolves continued to guard against the other Magical Beasts, as well as to defend the cave entrance and make sure no Magical Beasts came close.
SWOOSH… CRAAACK…
The first bolt of lightning came down and struck Tealwood. A terrible pain hit him, and he felt numb all over instantly, but he endured the pain and remained standing.
SWOOSH… CRAAACK…
The second bolt of lightning came down, and it was even more aggressive than the first bolt.
BAM!
Tealwood collapsed onto the ground violently. He felt like all the bones in his limbs were about to shatter, and his white fur had been burned black. There was also blood seeping out of several wounds on his body, and no part of him looked unaffected. He also started to bleed from the mouth.
All the Magical Beasts watching this were filled with fear. They hadn’t expected the lightning in this process to be so powerful. They were surprised it could actually hurt a Level Six Peak Phase Magical Beast to this extent.
It was little wonder that Sacred Beasts were powerful beyond belief. A Magical Beast that could endure such an incredible impact had to be a powerful one. They really hoped that Tealwood could successfully survive this, and their eyes were filled with anxiety.
But the most anxious of them all was the other Windblast Wolves. They could only watch helplessly as their leader received severe injuries. Their hearts were in turmoil, but the only thing they could do right now was to protect the surroundings.
Tealwood tried his best to get up again and grit his teeth to endure the pain. His limbs were a little fractured from the impact of the lightning, so even though he could stand, he was trembling slightly. But he continued to straighten his body and lifted his head to let out a long howl as the last bolt of lightning struck him!
SWOOSH… CRAACKLE CRAAACKLE!
The last bolt of lightning came down while Tealwood gathered all the energy in his body to hold up against this strike.
BAAAAM!
The dark clouds that gathered in the sky slowly disappeared. Tealwood couldn’t take it anymore and collapsed onto the ground. There was no movement for a while.
All the Magical Beasts, and the two men who had been watching in a tree not too far away, thought that Tealwood had failed to overcome the crisis.
The other Windblast Wolves looked at the unmoving Tealwood on the ground. Their eyes were filled with sadness, and they looked up to the sky to howl miserably.
After that, they all quickly dashed to where Tealwood was and couldn’t be bothered with guarding the cave any longer.
Just as they all crowded around Tealwood’s body and whimpered sadly, the situation suddenly changed.
“Hmm? I’m still alive… looks like I made it,” a voice said slowly. It was as clear as a flowing stream and carried a tinge of laziness. It sounded so wonderful.
Just as those words were uttered, a strong blast of white light suddenly shot out from within Tealwood’s body. The light was blinding to the eye.
All the Windblast Wolves couldn’t help but squint and watch this sudden turn of events. Before they could understand what was going on, they saw Tealwood slowly open his eyes within the bright glow of light, and all the wounds caused by the lightning strikes earlier slowly healed themselves. Then, Tealwood stood up.
In the next moment, Tealwood’s gigantic body slowly shrank again and again. A bright light flashed, and then a man in a long, white robe with black flowing hair, standing at around five feet nine inches tall, appeared. His skin was a healthy bronze color, his features were sharp and deep-set, and he had a beautiful pair of almond-shaped eyes set beneath his well-defined eyebrows. He gave off a wild and unbridled aura and looked like he was in his early twenties.
This man was Tealwood after he had successfully overcome the crisis of leveling up. He had just taken the form of a human and wasn’t really used to it yet.
He tried to speak like a human, “Er…um, AHEM! Er, Xiaojiu, what’s wrong with all of you? Why are all of you just staring at me like that?” His voice was bright and clear.
The Windblast Wolf named Xiaojiu was now so excited that he couldn’t get a single word out. He looked intently at Tealwood with great excitement in his eyes. The Sacred Beast level of authority that seeped out from Tealwood was enough to make all their legs tremble.
Sacred Beast level! Tealwood was now one of the most powerful Magical Beasts on the entire continent! It had been 10,000 years since the last Godly Beast appeared, and even a Sacred Beast only appeared once every few millennia! Of course, they were all excited.
Xiaojiu howled a few times. “Boss, is it really you? That’s wonderful! All of us thought you didn’t make it earlier…”
Tealwood replied, “All right now, that’s quite enough! I’m fine! I overcame the crisis in the end, didn’t I?”
Deep down, he was actually very excited as well. But, since he was their leader, he had to keep up his authoritative image. Ahem… ahem… So he couldn’t look too unserious in front of them.
