Chapter 37: Little Childhood Sweetheart Is Quite Feisty (Part 37)
A ball of fury burned in Yun Jiayue’s stomach. After the party ended, she rushed to Xie Huixiu to complain.
“Mommy! Can you forbid that idiot from appearing? She is a disgrace to us! Did you know that at my party today, many of my classmates asked if that idiot was my sister?!”
Xie Huixiu was just about to console her precious daughter when Yun Xiaohuai interrupted coldly, “Are you despising her because she has disgraced you or simply because she has stolen your limelight?”
“Daddy, what are you talking about?”
“Jiayue, you know that she is an idiot. There is no way she would be able to compete and fight for what belongs to you. You should be generous and treat her better. After all, she is your younger sister.” Yun Jiayue paused and said, “If you treat her slightly better, she will bring you an unexpected surprise.”
Yun Xiaohuai was pleased with his scheme.
Indeed, his predictions had been correct right from the beginning.
Fanxing had begun to attract some men.
…
Time flew by, and August was coming to an end.
It was Fanxing’s birthday.
And Yun Jiayue’s too.
Little Chief had been anticipating the arrival of her birthday for days.
On her birthday every year, little flower Qi He would celebrate with her. He would buy her a small cake, and she could blow out the candles and make a wish.
The Yun family was busy with the preparations for Yun Jiayue’s coming-of-age birthday celebration. But no one asked Fanxing if she wanted anything. Even though Fanxing and Jiayue had the same birthday, the Yun couple had no plans of introducing Fanxing formally to their circle of friends.
Little Chief waited from morning till night time.
Behind the mansion was an outdoor courtyard where all of the Yun family’s distinguished friends and guests had convened. Yun Jiayue had hogged the limelight for the entire night. The Yun couple had prepared a set of their grandmother’s antique jewelry and a priceless tiara from a private collector from Europe for her. The scale of the celebration was unparalleled.
Fanxing sneaked into the party and stole two slices of cake before she returned to her room.
She checked her phone at intervals, as though she was waiting for something.
She waited until 9 p.m. that night.
Fanxing was dozing off when suddenly her phone buzzed.
Qi He sounded a little out of breath. “Little idiot, happy birthday. You’re eighteen now.”
Fanxing asked curiously, “So I won’t have any ice cream cake today?”
Qi He scoffed aloud.
Damn it. He had traveled a long way from his town to Haicheng. He had hastily rented a place near school and been busy from morning till night for the past few days. He had finally freed up some of his time to celebrate with this little idiot today.
Was the cake more important than his effort?
“Yes. Come out and meet me. I’m stuck on the road outside your house.”
Qi He didn’t ask her if he or the cake was more important. This question would only invite humiliation.
Damn it. He had no idea why the road would be swamped with cars tonight. The entire road was blocked as a result. He had to alight a long distance away from the road leading to the house, and he had to jog for the remaining distance to meet her.
Fanxing hurried out of her room.
Wei Zizhuo was feeling suffocated by the crowd tonight, so he sneaked away to take a breather. He didn’t expect to see Yun Fanxing leaving.
The girl wore a white dress as she skipped happily. She was so different from her usual self. She was more energetic, lively and… more adorable.
For no reason, Wei Zizhuo followed her stealthily.
Fanxing walked for some time before she caught a glimpse of Qi He, who was drenched with perspiration.
Qi He was holding a small cake box. He had gone to collect the cake before rushing here. The journey to and fro had left him exhausted!
