Inside the bar.
Princess Anna rubbed her eyes and looked back at the projected image.
The dead body of the Grandmaster was still lying on the ground.
“This doesn’t make sense…” Her eyes were filled with disbelief.
The young man in the projected image had shocked her deeply. Until the moment he had walked out to face his enemies, she was still thinking to herself that she would go out and save him if his life was in danger.
She hadn’t expected things to end this way.
Gu Qingshan seemed to have a mysterious cloak over himself, so she couldn’t see through it, but she was very attracted to him.
“Indeed, this doesn’t make sense at all. He’s improved too quickly unless he had hidden some of his real capabilities the last time,” Von Hord added on.
He twiddled with the optical computer and projected the results of the evaluation.
“Current evaluation of capability stands at Grandmaster level. Powers unconfirmed. Suspected to be either a Chosen One or an Elemental Arts Expert, details unknown.”
“Downloading target’s life case file…”
“Target has not used any genetic modifiers.”
“Conclusion: Gu Qingshan, male, 18 years old. Potential power evaluation: S.”
Von Hord looked at the image and exclaimed, “He could actually fight a Grandmaster at 18 years old. I really want to know what Chosen One’s skill this god-defying body has.”
Suddenly the communication device next to them started ringing like crazy.
Anna pressed the button and asked, “What is it?”
“Mole reporting, Baisha County’s mecha troop is approaching quickly and will reach this place in seven seconds. Baisha County’s intergalactic battleship fleet is gathering about 100 kilometers away as well.”
Anna slammed the communication device shut and stood up. “I’m going to save him.”
Von Hord quickly stopped her and said, “Your Highness, you can’t appear now. If the Empire’s princess ends up going on a killing spree in the Federation, that would become the worst political dispute in history and you will definitely start an all-out war!”
“I don’t care!”
Anna said this as she put her hands together as if she was praying.
“God of death! I call for Roaring Flames…”
Von Hord slapped her hands apart with a loud PAK!
“Your Highness, let me go and bring him to safety. You should leave first,” said Von Hord with a very stern expression on his face.
“No! You may be a Chosen One with a shadow skill, but it’s not a high enough level, and you’re not going to escape detection when the intergalactic battleships scan for lifeforms.”
The communication device started ringing like crazy again.
Von Hord was already restless with anxiety. He slapped the button on the communication device and roared, “What is it?!”
There was an uncontrollable exclamation of shock from the communication device, “Flying Bird reporting! Flying Bird reporting! The Martial Arts Saint of the Federation has arrived!”
“What?!” Anna’s eyes widened. “Where did he come from? Why didn’t I detect him at all?”
“He’s landing now! Landing now!”
Gu Qingshan pulled an arrow out and narrowed his eyes as he looked intently at the mecha troop approaching him at high speed.
“091 “Harrier” Assault Mechas. Pretty high damage,” remarked Gu Qingshan as he pulled his bow back to its maximum. “Just that it’s not very cleverly built.”
He released the arrow and the bowstring bounced back. The arrow was covered by a barely visible layer of Spirit Power as it flew out.
With a flash.
There was a loud PAK! The arrow hit the mecha but was off the target and flew out of sight.
“Tsk, let me try again.”
Gu Qingshan quickly pulled the bow back and shot another arrow out.
BOOM!
The arrow pierced through the joint of the mecha’s knee section. Once the arrow had shot its leg, the strong steel mecha collapsed in a mess onto the ground.
Gu Qingshan quickly retreated and dodged all the mini missiles that the other mechas shot at him. He pulled another arrow out and drew the bow back.
The arrow shot through the air.
A mecha had just lifted a heavy-duty, rotary autocannon, but the arrow went in from the barrel and went all the way through, causing the highly explosive laser-type ammunition inside to explode.
These highly explosive shells were very powerful, so it blasted off one side of the mecha. The parts fell to the ground, and the mecha couldn’t move anymore.
“My God, is this seriously something a bow and arrow can do?!” Von Hord clenched his teeth and uttered this as he watched the projection in front of him.
Anna continued to stare intensely at the projection and said, “He hit the hidden weak spot of the 091 “Harrier” Assault Mecha. We have records of this in our research database too.”
“It was just a coincidence, right? How would he know something so classified?”
“It wasn’t a coincidence. I watched him aim at it.”
“Crap, the Martial Arts Saint is here!”
The two of them stopped talking and even held their breath.
Anna clasped her hands together and nervously watched what was happening on the projected image.
Outside.
Gu Qingshan took aim, then pulled his bow back and continued shooting arrows.
Suddenly he sensed something and withdrew his attack as he looked up at the sky.
There was a black shadow falling from the sky.
It was falling so quickly!
Gu Qingshan quickly retreated and hid behind a high wall.
There was a loud DOONG! And there was now a crater about ten meters in diameter on the streets.
All the mechas stopped and became wary.
“Enemy’s arrow power is too strong. We suspect he is an Elemental Arts Expert. Calling for backup! Calling for backup!” The mecha leading the troop quickly took this chance to make a report.
“Backup?”
A voice rang out from the crater.
“Looks like the situation isn’t too bad.”
A figure leaped out from the crater as he spoke.
It was a middle-aged man.
He had thick brows, eagle-eyed and dark-skinned. His body was so straight he resembled a javelin.
He was wearing a dark green military uniform with black army boots. There were a long sword and armor badge on his shoulder. A long sword and armor meant that he was a general in the military.
He turned to face the wary mecha troop and said, “I am Zhang Zongyang.”
All the mechas stopped immediately. The soldiers jumped out from the cockpit and bent their heads and bowed.
“Martial Arts Saint!”
“God of the military!”
“Baisha County Special Troop 477 reporting.”
Zhang Zongyang looked at the men in front of him and said, “As soldiers, who allowed you to operate these mechas, make a mess of this place, and kill someone?”
All the soldiers were antsy. The leader among them replied, “We have an instruction from Baisha County’s magistrate.”
They were part of the troops guarding Baisha County, so they had to wait upon the magistrate of Baisha County.
“These rubbish aristocrats.”
Zhang Zongyang spat this out and didn’t blame the soldiers anymore. He turned to where Gu Qingshan was hiding and shouted, “Gu Qingshan, come out.”
Gu Qingshan thought about it for a while, then walked out.
Zhang Zongyang looked at this young man with a conflicted expression and said, “The president wants to see you.”
Just a few minutes earlier.
In outer space.
On the Shrine.
It was that huge room that Gu Qingshan had spent several hours in the last time.
There were symbols and numbers pouring down hundreds of screens, and it never seemed to stop for even one second.
The screens formed a circle around a very special mecha, surrounding it tightly and analyzing every detail of this mecha.
The mecha stood where it was, quietly, without moving.
It didn’t look as bulky or clumsy like most mechas, and it wasn’t filled with advanced weaponry like those special mechas either.
It looked much more agile than those mechas.
The gentle, white light of the screens was reflected on the surface of the mecha like water flowing down its side.
The mecha’s head moved a little.
After a while, it changed to another position.
The mecha was quietly looking at its surroundings.
It was as if it was sentient.
Suddenly, the hundreds of screens shut off at the same time.
Only the screen closest to the mecha was still lit up.
One word appeared on the screen.
“Perfect”
After this word disappeared, it was replaced by another four words.
“Ahead of its time”
After that, several rows of text appeared.
“As per our verbal agreement, Gu Qingshan’s personal data will be hidden, and the Impartiality Goddess will have the sole right to use his research results.”
“Increasing citizen Gu Qingshan’s Personal Meritorious Service points. With respect to the 21 major breakthroughs in research that he has completed, the calculation is as follows:”
“Gu Qingshan’s Personal Meritorious Service points total stands at 799,873,957,281,439 points.”
“Increasing Gu Qingshan’s individual rights level.”
“Calculation of Gu Qingshan’s individual rights level in accordance with the contribution he has made to improving human civilization.”
“Calculation complete. Gu Qingshan’s individual rights level has now been increased to Supreme Leader.”
“Gu Qingshan has been accused of murder and theft. Analysis of crimes starting now.”
“Gu Qingshan found not guilty and was only acting in self-defense. All charges dropped. Further analysis of situation now.”
“Changning County is gathering its military troops, target confirmed to be the Supreme Leader.”
“Current situation level raised to Extremely Dangerous.”
“As Gu Qingshan is now at Supreme Leader level, safety measures to be activated.”
“Safety measure proposals: 1, 2, 3, or 4.”
“Proposal 3 has been chosen as the one with the highest chances of succeeding. Contact the president.”
