“I will.”
Gu Qingshan replied Ning Yuechan as he started inspecting it carefully. He found two words at the place where his hand was holding it: Night Rain.
Gu Qingshan started moving the Spirit Power in his dantian and filled Night Rain with it.
The longbow instantly became a blur before disappearing from Gu Qingshan’s sight.
Gu Qingshan could feel that he was still holding onto the longbow, but he couldn’t see it. He couldn’t feel it even after sending his Divine Sense out.
That was not it. Soon enough, Gu Qingshan’s presence had also disappeared quickly.
He was standing where he was but felt as if he was separate from the world. If nobody was looking at him, then nobody would have felt his presence.
“This is a good bow!” Gu Qingshan exclaimed.
The Faceless Giant was fast approaching them, and there were a few dozen Blood Drinking Demons riding Gloomy Fire Evil Snakes coming toward them at high speed from the forest.
Ning Yuechan pulled out a bright and long knife. She looked at the Faceless Giant and said, “Since a Five Element Formation was useless against it, then I’m going to fight it.”
Gongsun Zhi nodded and replied, “I won’t attack this demon then. Leave the rest of the demons to me.”
“Yup. You protect him.” Ning Yuechan added one more sentence as she wielded her knife and didn’t even look back.
Gongsun Zhi glanced at Gu Qingshan and tried his best not to laugh. “But of course.”
Ning Yuechan used a knife? Gu Qingshan looked at the long knife in her hands.
This knife was two inches longer than most knives and was very narrow. So the handle of the knife all the way to its tip was just one long and straight line.
This was a straight knife used by female cultivators. It was much narrower and allowed for better movement compared to the wide curved knife that male cultivators usually used.
“Wind Radiance Afterimage!”
“Buzz Cutting!”
Ning Yuechan shouted out in a low voice.
A blue glow shot out from her straight knife and surrounded both Ning Yuechan and the knife.
Many thin, gold lines appeared around the blue glow, then suddenly disappeared again, and made a buzzing noise like bees from time to time.
In this instant, she had become a long knife gleaming with a cold intention to kill.
Gu Qingshan got a shock when he saw this.
She had two Elements out of five!
And this was the rare combination of Metal and Wind!
The Spirit Power of Wind from the Peculiar Five Elements was split into several levels. The lowest was Agility and Celerity, followed by Hyperspeed Combo, then Wind Radiance Afterimage, Hardwind Volley, and Annihilating Wind Tribulation.
Ning Yuechan had already reached the third stage of her development of the Wind element, and this was a fairly amazing accomplishment given her age.
There were many Nascent Soul cultivators who had managed to activate their Spirit Power of Wind, but that was about it.
That was not the end either. Ning Yuechan had also developed her Spirit Power of Metal to the Buzz Cutting level.
There were very few who could activate two elements in the first place, and even if they did, they would usually only be able to concentrate on developing one of them. It was hard to keep both on par, much less combine the two to make them an even greater power.
But Ning Yuechan had attained this. Since she still looked calm and steady, this move clearly didn’t take too much energy out of her.
Gu Qingshan sighed inwardly.
This lady really had a god-defying sort of gifting. No wonder many historians had said that she could have fought it out with the Demonic Lord if she hadn’t died.
The only sad thing was that there weren’t many techniques regarding knives, and the cultivators hadn’t developed much along this line.
They would rather use another weapon than to use a knife.
Ning Yuechan raised her long knife as she stared intensely at the Faceless Giant coming her way, and the power in her body continued to rise.
Gu Qingshan’s gaze fell on the long knife and couldn’t hold it in anymore. He had to ask, “Why did you choose a knife as your weapon?”
“Spears and lances are too clumsy while swords are too hypocritical. Knives are like martyrs, moving ahead without fear.”
“I understand why you would think spears and lances are too clumsy, but why would a sword be hypocritical?” asked Gu Qingshan curiously.
Ning Yuechan glanced at him and said, “Don’t you dare use a sword ever.”
She then bent down and shot up into the sky until she was beyond the blue.
Then, there was the ground-shaking roar of the Faceless Giant from among the clouds.
“Don’t mind her,” Gongsun Zhi patted Gu Qingshan’s shoulder. “Once upon a time, she used a sword too.”
“Then why did she switch to a knife?”
“There was a fellow male disciple who was very close to her, and he practiced with her every day and even guided her on sword techniques. Eventually, this man betrayed her, and from then on, she hated swords and hated sword cultivators. Each time she saw one, she’d attack him.”
Gu Qingshan remarked, “What on Earth? Nobody stopped her?”
Gongsun Zhi smiled bitterly and replied, “As elders, we all wanted to do something, but she’s Ning Yuechan, after all. Those sword cultivators kept coming and kept trying to get close to her and couldn’t resist trying to touch her, so they deserved to be attacked.”
“So she attacked each one… until they died?” asked Gu Qingshan as he started thinking hard.
“Not so extreme. As long as the other party knelt on the ground and begged for mercy, she would let him go,” replied Gongsun Zhi.
Gu Qingshan tried to imagine himself kneeling in front of Ning Yuechan and begging for mercy, and he immediately shook his head.
When Gongsun Zhi saw how horrified Gu Qingshan was, he thought for a few moments before consoling him, “You don’t have to be afraid. You’re not a sword cultivator, so it’s fine.”
But Gu Qingshan had been a sword cultivator…
Then again, he hadn’t touched a single sword since he transmigrated, so in this short time, he wouldn’t offend this incredibly powerful lady.
He saved her life, so he probably wouldn’t be hit so hard that he had to kneel and beg for mercy.
If that didn’t work out, then he would have to hide far away until he had restored his previous sword cultivation levels.
Just as these thoughts were running through Gu Qingshan’s head, there was a loud boom that came from the sky.
BOOOM!
A black figure fell from the clouds and crashed hard against the ground.
“Are you all right?” Gu Qingshan ran over and asked her anxiously.
Ning Yuechan stood up and quietly replied, “I’m fine. You’d better hide.”
The next second.
The glow of the knife surrounded Ning Yuechan and her white cape started flapping in the wind.
She flew up from the crater in the ground wearing her gold armor, and she made her way to the space above the clouds.
“Demon, prepare to die!”
Her feminine voice rang out from the sky.
There was a loud and deep howl of pain that came from the clouds.
That was the scream of the Faceless Giant.
Ning Yuechan could actually fight against a Faceless Giant when her power was fully restored.
That was crazy.
The exciting and heart-stopping action was still happening in the clouds.
Gu Qingshan sighed and muttered to himself, “She seems so demure and quiet, but when it comes to fighting, she really goes all out. All these people who use knives really don’t seem to care about their lives.”
“You are the one who doesn’t care for your life!
An angry voice resounded in his head.
That was Ning Yuechan’s voice.
Gu Qingshan was stunned for a moment, then felt a little upset.
He looked up and the thick layer of clouds blocked his view. But he felt like he could still feel Ning Yuechan glaring hatefully at him from somewhere high up in the sky.
Damn it, he had completely forgotten. If she could fight a Faceless Giant head-on, that meant that she was at least an Interim Nascent Soul cultivator.
At such a high level of cultivation, her Divine Sense could reach very far and everything he said could be heard extremely clearly by her.
Gu Qingshan shut his mouth after that.
In this life, Ning Yuechan was free from being hindered by poisons and her injuries were recovering well. So her fate would be quite different from what had happened in his previous life.
Just as this thought crossed his mind, he suddenly noticed Blood Drinking Demons appearing from the forest in front.
Below these Blood Drinking Demons were stealthy killers that naturally had the Spirit Power of Fire: Gloomy Fire Evil Snakes!
The ambush party from the demon army had made it here too!
They were quietly moving at a tremendous speed toward Gu Qingshan and Gongsun Zhi.
That famous encirclement attack in history was now about to start.
Gongsun Zhi’s face was now cold and frosty as he pulled out an intricate-looking formation disk from his storage bag.
“I can’t kill a Faceless Giant, but I won’t have a problem with these things,” he muttered quietly.
Gu Qingshan was about to raise his bow when his entire body stiffened up and he couldn’t move from where he was at all.
Countless amounts of data poured down in front of his eyes like a waterfall as the cold robotic sound of the system prompt sounded.
“Player has initiated Special Historical Event.”
“Current conditions are suitable for activating.”
“Activate: Battle of Fallen Heroes.”
