Auto Hunting As A Clone - Chapter 1
Chapter 1: Awakening (1)
It was a busy day; the bustling square was filled with many different people.
Today at this place a large event would take place.
From amongst the crowd, someone yelled, “Finally, I will also get to awaken! Hehe, please give me a powerful skill!”
“Bull shit, since you’re stupid, you’ll probably get an intelligence buff,” her friend responded.
“Fuck off, bitch.”
Behind them stood a young man who looked about twenty years old, dressed in an oversized, saggy sportswear.
He ignored the two people in front of him, as he once again got lost in his own thoughts.
‘Ah, I’m tired. I need to go home quickly and see how my game macros are doing.’
Sangwoo was thinking about games instead of the event currently taking place.
He makes money by selling in-game items, a so-called dark gamer, and he has dabbled and laid his hands on pretty much any game that had a lucrative market.
He welcomed the college break by starting a new online RPG game but, although he started light-heartedly to make a small amount of money, he quickly became deeply immersed into it.
Currently at home, two computers were connected to multiple games and he had turned on the automatic hunting program back before the event.
Because of that Sangwoo was worried about if all his game systems were running correctly.
‘Ah, it would be nice if I had two bodies. If only that was possible, I could send my other body to this boring event, so my original body can just game.’
Sangwoo kept grumbling as he kept thinking about the prospects of having two bodies.
[Ahem, everyone please pay attention.]
The MC’s voice caused the crowd to become quieter.
[My name is Hunter Park Wontae and I will be overseeing the 10th round of portal awakenings.]
“Wahhhhh-!”
Clap, clap, clap, clap-
Thunderous shouts and applause echoed throughout the crowd.
Hunter Park Wontae, is the type of popular celebrity that you’ve seen at least once while watching TV no matter what age you were.
Although in his early 30s, he already represents a guild in the single digits ranking and is an A rank hunter.
[I sincerely wish all members of the public to complete your awakening safely. Now, let us start the awakening! Group 1, please come to the front.]
Finally, the boring introduction ended, and the Portal Awakening began.
The Awakening Program.
It is a program run by the country that aims to help its citizens awaken abilities by exposing them to mana.
It has been discovered that exposure to mana awakens abilities in people. Entering this portal, causes people to forcefully awaken, hence why this awakening program is regarded by many as life changing.
‘Finally, it’s my turn’
Standing in line, waiting, and waiting it was finally Sangwoo’s groups turn.
He followed the girls in front of him, and soon after he saw a small portal. At that moment, no matter how indifferent and apathetic he was, Sangwoo could not help but become nervous the closer he got to the portal.
“Now, group 38, number 7, Jung Sangwoo, is that correct?”
“Yes, that is me.”
“Alright, I shall verify your identity now.”
The controller equipped with a liquid crystal scanned the bracelet-shaped ID on Sangwoo’s arm.
[20031213-320XXXX, Jung Sangwoo.]
“Okay, we have finished verifying your identity. When you see the girl, who went into the portal before you come out, all you need to do is pass by her and enter the portal. Now, next person.”
He quickly beckoned for another guide to stand in front of the portal.
“I, just walk in?”
“Yes. Since its emergence, no one has been harmed, please be rest assured and enter the portal.”
Although Sangwoo was a little afraid, he thought it would be better to go in as soon as possible.
He stepped his foot into the portal and finally, he entered.
Pshh!
* * *
“Akkk.”
[Identifying the user.]

[User: Human-Jung Sangwoo.]
[Identification Completed.]
[System Authorized.]
[Registration completed.]
The second that Sangwoo entered the portal he lost consciousness, and he woke up to a torrent of messages that appeared before his eyes.
“Uhg, uhg…”
He felt as if he had a splitting headache.
As he opened his eyes, he saw that he was surrounded by large concrete walls.
It looked kind of like a dome to isolate people from danger.
“…Is this a bunker?”
This area was not a place specifically used to house those involved in the awakening program, instead it was used to protect people ever since modern times. TN: Not sure about this as its obviously used for awakening later on
“Wuu… Wuu, ukk-.”
He heard a sound nearby, and looked to his side, only to find an uncle clutching his stomach while vomiting on the ground.
The uncle’s condition seemed quite serious, but Sangwoo was not in any better shape than the uncle, feeling nauseous with an urge to vomit as well. Meanwhile, Sangwoo heard a high-pitched voice in a different area.
“Kyaaa!! Daebak~! Let’s fucking go! I’ve gained an ability~!”
To his other side, was a woman shouting joyful screams, starkly contrasting with the men’s pain.
It was no surprise though, since he saw what he assumed she had created, a bird made of flames; it was like watching a CG-filled fantasy movie, but it was so stunning and majestic that there was this feeling of incongruity between the flame bird and its surroundings.
‘It’s scary yet beautiful’.
In an instant, she was surrounded by people in suits who swiftly pulled out their business cards as if they had done this action many times before.
The competition for recruitment seemed fierce for hunters.
It was then, Sangwoo started to stare blankly at her with feelings of slight envy.
Abruptly, a man came besides Sangwoo.
“Congratulations awakened one. Are you okay with your ability?” A bright and friendly man applauded and asked Sangwoo.
He seemed to be one of the awakening program’s guides.
“No. It’s not okay.” TN: How the hell can he say that his abilities aint okay if he hasnt even checked em.
“Even so, it’ll get better soon. Have you checked your ability?” The man replied light heartedly.
“Not yet. I wanted to check it quietly and inconspicuously.”
“I see. If you want to check your status, just think to yourself about it, and it will appear. If you are having trouble doing it mentally, you can say “status window” and a status window will also pop up.”
Sangwoo was aware of this beforehand as he knew some information about the awakening program to a certain extent.
The moment Sangwoo thought ‘status window’, a window popped up in front of his eyes.
───────────────
[Jung Sangwoo]
[Stats]
Strength: 0.7
Speed: 0.51
Health: 0.643
Endurance: 0.539
Magic: 0.130
[Skills]
·[Cloning (Lv.1)/Active]
·[Clone Strengthening (Lv.1)/Passive]
───────────────
‘Is this an awaken’s status window that I’ve only heard about from others?’ he thought, carrying expectations while he calmly analyzed his status window.
‘…There really isn’t anything that’s interesting.”
Seeing that all his stats were filled with decimals, he was greatly dispirited and disappointed.
But when he looked down at his bulging stomach, he knew the stats were accurate and that was the hard-cold truth.
Sangwoo was not depressed for long, as he quickly went back to observing his status window.
“Anyways, skills are also very important.”
He focused on the skills section of the status window, and detailed explanations of the skills popped up.
───────────────
[Cloning (Lv.1)/Active]:
Consumes energy to summon an identical looking clone. The number of summons will change depending on the skill level. You can connect (link) with your clone.
Current Number of Summons: 1
Cooldown: 24 hours
[Clone Strengthening (Lv. 1)/Passive]:
Increases the body stats reflection ratio of the clone
Current Capacity Reflection Ratio: 50%
───────────────
Holy shit, cloning!
A skill that creates multiple identical selves that fight for you!
‘What the hell, is this like Wukong?’ TN: Sun Wukong from Journey to the west has a clone ability
Sangwoo, who had played many games, knew how OP this ability was…
When summoning a clone, one of your characters becomes ‘copy and pasted,’ making 2, 3, 4… of the character. T-this ability is too strong.
There was one thing that had sparked Sangwoo’s interest.
‘-No, wait a minute… there aren’t any restrictions that allow it to only be used during combat? Therefore, I can use this skill in real life…’ (“Must fight” condition example is like how the quirk use is restricted in MHA).
If so, the possibilities of this cloning ability would be endless.
Sangwoo’s eyes flashed as he felt like he won the awakening lottery.
When it comes to gaming, Sangwoo’s habit of researching was triggered.
“Have you checked your status window?” The guide next to him who also observed other awakeners asked Sangwoo.
Unlike the other awakeners who used their skills, the guide seemed curious as to why Sangwoo did not use his.
“I have, there was nothing special.”
“Ah, yes…”
But the guide’s response seemed strange. He did not know why, but he felt like he saw a disappointing and regretful gleam from his eyes.
Sangwoo thought that his cloning skill was good, so he was expecting a surprised response, but that was not the case.
Sangwoo hesitantly asked, “Is this a bad skill?”
“Well, the other day some other guy got a shadow clone skill but… And I heard that guy’s clone had no fighting power and was only useful for its aggro ability.” The guide replied with.
‘Hmm? Mine isn’t a shadow clone…?’
When Sangwoo heard that, he became lost in thought for a moment. The guide comforted him as he thought his moment of silence indicated that he was disappointed.
“Even so, you have a better start than those awakening without a skill. Don’t be so heartbroken. If you are thinking about becoming a hunter, do you see that place over there? If you show your skills in the place where those guild officials reside, they can examine your skill and evaluate it more properly.”
Crossing the portal, he found that the plaza was filled with people where the awakening ceremony was taking place.
‘Should I demonstrate the skill in front of those people?’
Sangwoo was never a fan of being in the spotlight, so he would rather not go and demonstrate his skills in front of a bunch of people.
‘It may be different from what I originally thought, and this skill could be embarrassingly disappointing. Let’s start off by returning home.’
“I’m fine. Where can I leave?
“Do you see the researchers and staff over there? You can just go over there and get permission to leave.
“Ah, thank you.”
Listening to the guide he went in that direction and saw something that looked like a cylindrical capsule.
It seemed this was a place where they would scan participants.
There was a waiting line to leave, so Sangwoo joined it and patiently bid his time.
After a bit of time, Sangwoo’s turn came.
“Please come quickly, sir. Did you awaken a skill?”
“Yes.”
“What is your skill?”
“It’s cloning.”
After hearing Sangwoo’s skill the clerk had no reaction and continued to work.
Her monotonous voice continued to guide Sangwoo.
“Yes, it’s a cloning skill… To confirm, will you do a scan of my body?
“Yes.”
He followed the guide inside, and in front of the researchers he took a deep breath and entered the capsule.
The second he entered, he felt like there was this mysterious energy that was flowing through his body.
Unlike all his worries, the testing ended in less than a second.
“Okay, sir. The skill scan has been finished. Please come out. The chances that you have more than one skill is 73%. Your cloning skills have been registered. Thank you very much”
“What? It’s already finished?”
“Yes, it has finished. It has been registered on your issued identity bracelet, next please.”
For some reason, the skill registration process felt very lax.
It seemed that it was impossible for current technology to understand what skills he had.
Because it ended a little too fast, he felt stunned but Sangwoo went through the portal anyway.
‘Cloning skill… what skill is this?’
Instead of checking his issued awakening registration, he was filled with the anticipation of quickly going home and summoning a clone.
