Chapter 1355: Birth of the Thunder God (Part 3)
Lex saw no point in getting angry. Jola might have looked laidback and carefree when he wasn’t working, but when the situation called for it, he was as adamant as anyone could be. The sword he wore that day was Face instead of Tears. That alone seemed to be telling Lex of his resolve.
Jola still remembered why Saleen presented him with Face: Jola lacked a steely side to his personality, which caused the inadequacies seen in his swordplay.
The sword was named Face, and Jola was always able to recall Saleen’s expression when he was presented with the sword. That was a gentle expectation from his liege, Saleen.
Despite being younger, he was always there to lead the way for others. Saleen did not initially possess such an ability, but he had it right now.
Ojarvis smiled at Jola, whose expression did not change at all, seemingly oblivious to the goodwill that Ojarvis was showing him.
Ojarvis was totally indifferent. He then told Jola, “Even if you didn’t kill me, I wouldn’t live more than a month anyway.”
Jola then spoke again, saying to Ojarvis, “Everyone dies, and it indeed makes no difference if one dies sooner or later. But even if you were to die even a day earlier, it would have still saddened the viscount. She is a level-10 mage trainer, and no one knows how long she could actually live.”
Jola didn’t filter his words; he just spoke his mind. If Lex were to not save Saleen and something happened to him, Jola would have made a point of making Lex unhappy in the days to come.
He did not have the ability to just kill Lex, because she possessed the God’s Ring. Killing her would have been far too difficult.
“You’re from Cloudflow?” Ojarvis then looked at Jola curiously. Finding someone like that among the Cloudflow people was odd.
“Heh, so what if I’m Cloudflow? I thought Qin valued their bonds. If Sika were here and knew Saleen was in danger, she would throw everything aside and take us to help our liege out without considering anything else,” Jola jabbed sarcastically.
Lex was done holding back. She walked out of Ojarvis’s room without saying another word.
Although Ojarvis had placed all his hopes of resurrection on Saleen, her brother’s life bead was nonetheless with her instead, making her unable to trust her brother’s words completely.
Furthermore, Jola’s words provoked her a lot. Even though she was married to Saleen, he still spent more time with Sika.
While there were indeed other reasons for this, the truth is that had she not been so preoccupied with political affairs and devoted all her time to managing Daliang City’s expansion to her territory, Sika would not have had the chance to do so in the first place.
If she had put everything aside, Saleen definitely would not have ignored her. Great. Now even Jola thinks that Sika’s more like Saleen’s wife.
Ojarvis then called before she walked outside, “Lex, hold on. Look.”
The images shown in the magic projection shocked Jola a lot.
Dante, flying in midair, burst with golden light all of a sudden. Taking a closer look, you could see that it was flames shooting out of its body instead. The flames were golden, and there were tightly packed thunder beads coalescing within the flames.
Dante came to acquire information left behind from countless gods all of a sudden. The golden flames shooting out from its eyes even returned the two thunder beads to their original golden color.
Divine fire lit up in Dante during the slaughter. Furthermore, the rules it wielded were the rules of lightning and earth elements.
One belonged to Saleen while the other belonged to the inheritance from the giants.
Those rules were not actually all that powerful yet. Dante also did not have a divine persona, so it was, at most, a pseudo god. However, that formidable power frightened the Evil Oracle considerably.
Sh*t!
How could this have happened!? With the weapon spirit becoming a god, that mage would have died as a result!
The Evil Oracle didn’t even have time to look at Saleen before Dante fired thousands of thunder beads within its divine fire at them.
It was practically bombarding the Evil Oracle. Those thunder beads were still small, with a diameter of a gold coin. But the thousands of thunder beads completely blocked any escape routes of the Evil Oracle. The Evil Oracle transformed into a puff of smoke intending to evade the beads.
Lightning attacks, however, were not physical attacks. Those thunder beads danced about in the smoke, causing the Evil Oracle to spit blood and revert to its original form.
The Evil Oracle was dumbfounded to find that most of its body had turned into a golden transparent crystalline state; only its heart, which was protected by rules, was left intact. The being was incapable of moving or saying anything, preventing chanting to continue.
While this was only the death of a clone, the experience struck fear into their hearts.
The Thunder God! The Thunder God!
They practically screamed that the Thunder God had appeared on Myers Mainland. That god possessed the one ability that was most lethal against the abomination species. What Lord Heretic God planned to do was probably not going to happen after all.
Intense fear, however, was seen on Dante’s face. While succeeding with its attacks, Dante felt as if the power of the entire mainland had weighed on it instead, almost killing it right there and then. It purged all powers from its body and was barely able to keep its soul and form together.
Even so, the power of rules that manifested out of nowhere struck fear into Dante’s mind.
If it had not been for the protection from the broken jade, its soul might not have been able to hang on.
Saleen was right indeed. It was difficult for it to die with that broken jade intact.
Rafel saw an opening and felt compelled to prevent the Evil Oracle from escaping. She pounced from the air, causing gray metallic gashes to appear on her supple hand. The gray hand pierced right through the Evil Oracle’s chest, tearing out the gray-whitish hair.
Rafel did not hesitate. She opened her mouth and devoured the heart right away.
She would not have dared to do something like that initially, as the Evil Oracle’s power would have assimilated her and turned her into an abomination. That Evil Oracle had been taken apart by lightning and its will was completely shattered. There was never a better chance for her to eat her enemy.
It was completely normal for angels to devour warrior creatures of the same kind.
It’s too bad the powerful heart was the only thing left, as the body was already crystallized. If the metal angels had able to absorb the rest of the Evil Oracle’s body, all of them could have advanced right there and then.
Ewww…
Seeing how Rafel ate her enemy up, all good impressions and fondness he had for her were completely gone. That being, who strived to become a person instead of a god creature, did not manage to refrain temptations from her instincts at such a key moment after all.
After eating the heart, all damages that Rafel suffered in Alchemy City were completely healed. Her body evolved, and if she were to be a creature without intellect and simply let herself go loose, a divine fire might have lit up inside and turned her into a pseudo god.
Rafel labored to maintain her seal, afraid she would have ended up being punished by the rules of the plane, like Dante. Her experiences were far richer than Dante’s, which meant she would have absolutely not made such grievous mistakes.
If Dante were to seal its powers at the very second its divine fires were ignited, it would not have been so severely injured that it couldn’t continue to hammer the Evil Oracle.
Dante’s body flew back into the Lightning Constellation in a jiffy.
“Master, I need to rest!” Dante’s voice was heard, and Saleen quickly put away his Lightning Constellation. Nailisi put her 12 Notes of First Purgatory away as well.
“Rafel, are you alright?”
“I’m fine.”
“Let’s keep purifying the vortexes. I…I’m about to advance!” Saleen felt that after both of his weapon spirits became gods, his mental powers grew exponentially as well and his magic chords expanded uncontrollably.
It would not have taken long before he advanced further to become a level-11 mage trainer. By then, wiping out the Holy See would not have been such a demanding task anymore.
Having acquired three level-13 subordinates, and with him about to become a level-11 lightning mage, Saleen became confident that the Holy See would have run out of tricks to deal with him. That was, unless…
Unless the Lord of Glory placed powerful beings on that plane, just like the Heretic God.
Rafel didn’t object that time. The Evil Oracle that the Heretic God was able to send wouldn’t have been able to stay long in the lane. Every time something like that was done, it would have needed to spend a lot of energy to facilitate the teleportation.
The Heretic God would not have been able to send such powerful beings, at least for several days to come.
Saleen could have done anything he wanted with the abominations during the next several days, and there was nothing the Heretic God could have done about it.
Cleaning up the entire underground city would not have taken that many days; two would have more or less suffice. If those abominations stayed behind, Rafel was confident she could kill every single one of the millions of abominations in a day.
Of course, that included high-level abominations that the 100 or so black vortexes could have continued to send.
The fighting before the magic door remained intense. None of the abominations knew that their plans had completely fallen apart.
Saleen took his people and continued to clean up the black vortexes in the upper level of the underground city. He put the Evil Oracle’s body away as well.
Every single golden granule had natural magic patterns on it, enabling it to cast lightning powers. Saleen did not care for the strength of lightning attacks those granules were capable of.
What he cared about was that those materials could smooth unleashed lightning powers. Storage wasn’t a problem either. With the golden granules, he could have his own lightning equipment.
Meeting the Evil Oracle put Saleen on high alert yet again. It was possible for stronger beings to appear in their plane, as long as they were willing to pay the price.
The likes of the Heretic God didn’t care about sacrifice. Furthermore, having high-level god beings seal away their powers did not necessarily mean sealing away their combat capacity as well. Rafel, for instance, could have taken on any level-12 abominations.
Because of her comprehensive understanding of battles, no common level-12 professionals could have matched her blow for blow.
She was not using the power of territories since all her moves smelled of rule powers.
If Saleen had not been casting Lightning Territory, Rafel would have been able to ignore all his territory attacks.
Saleen spent one entire day slaughtering. The upper level of the underground city was cleaned up by his lightning warriors, and no evil aura was left behind. Saleen acquired huge amounts of the much sought-after golden granules. The amount was so massive that it would have lasted him for quite a while.
Among the golden granules, the one with the highest quality was nonetheless that dagger, which was probably forged from fragments of the Heretic God’s bones. After it was purified, it became so resilient that not even Saleen’s Water Flame would have been able to do anything about it.
Saleen was not in a hurry. He would have acquired use of a level-11 Water Flame after advancement. If that proved inadequate, he could have still gone looking for his teacher for help. According to Saleen’s calculations, by the time he was able to make it to level-11, his teacher would have soon been able to reach level -12.
Jason’s advancement made many, many mages envious.
Other than the golden dagger, there was also the body of the Evil Oracle. After it was purified, it became a golden transparent statue. Saleen scanned the quality of the statue’s material with his Elemental Eye and found it to be little different from that of level-16 elementite.
No matter how powerful an elementite became, it was incapable of storing lightning powers. Tourmaline was the only mineral that could store electricity, but then again, it suffered many weaknesses: It was too rare, lacked hardness and broke easily.
