Bald Monk in the City - Chapter 52
Chapter 52: Xiu!
A silent night.
He didn’t even meditate like he did every day, but Yi Qiu still had a good rest.
A Monk’s meditation wouldn’t make one more energized. The law of energy conservation didn’t work in all places of the universe but it worked in most of them.
A Monk’s meditation turned one’s excess energy into Ki, so one would be really tired after meditation. This was why a Monk would meditate before sleeping each day.
When he got up from bed, Yi Qiu felt really energized.
The noodles and biscuits that he bought online arrived at noon. Yi Qiu decided to select a few Monk skills.
He currently had 21,620 Experience Points, enough to level up, but he had to leave some to activate the bloodline ability.
At Level 5, it wasn’t the right decision to rush levels.
He chose a few skills to raise his combat strength in this battle map: The recommended level for Nightmare under the Ruins was 7, but he was only Level 5 now.
Although it didn’t mean that he had to be Level 7 to complete it, it was a relatively overall standard, to clearly differentiate the differences of one’s combat strength.
Monks had deep skill pools. All the specialized skills and branch skills that could be found in DND could all be found here.
This was the reason why Yi Qiu didn’t want to become a saint or acquire other cultivation techniques. Just the Monk’s techniques were enough for him.
Monk skills could be learned right away by consuming Integrated Network experience while one needed to slowly train after exchanging for secret techniques on the Integrated Network.
It was best to focus. Although Yi Qiu wasn’t smart, he thought that just relying on Monk skills alone was enough to form his combat system.
Thus, he only trained in Dragon Elephant Prajna Technique to raise his stats and Eight Gates for the explosiveness.
As for bloodline ability, Yi Qiu didn’t mind learning those that could help him to raise his combat strength.
But Yi Qiu’s main development direction was still the Monk’s skill bank.
He considered that he was fighting in ruins, so he thought about a skill that could allow him to fight in a dark environment.
In the end, he chose Blind Fighting. Although it was quite basic, it was really practical.
Level 1 Blind Fighting:
In the dark environment, one can make up for one’s mistakes due to a lack of sight using one’s senses.
As it was a common skill, Yi Qiu only spent 2,000 points of experience to learn it.
“Will you learn the skill: Blind Fighting? Learning this skill will consume 2,000 experience.”
“Yes”
“Consumed 2,000 experience, learned Blind Fighting.”
“You have obtained skill: Blind Fighting.”
Yi Qiu felt that his field of sight became much clearer. He sensed that it wasn’t his vision becoming better but that the surrounding environment became blurred.
Even if he closed his eyes, this blur sense still existed.
When he opened his eyes, his senses and his sight would make up for one another, allowing him to see the dark corners, forming an illusion that his sight had become much clearer.
Yi Qiu was still left with 19,620 points. He thought about it and decided not to use them for now, and he would wait till he saw the strength of the spider before deciding.
He had a rough understanding of his skill now, but he didn’t have a clear idea of what he needed.

After practicing Dragon Elephant Prajna Technique in the park all morning, Yi Qiu rushed a meal and was prepared to eat.
Apart from noodles and biscuits, Yi Qiu made the unfinished tenderloin into juicy pork chops and brought them with him.
After all, it was 5 days, and if conditions allowed, it would be much better to eat pork chops than cup noodles and biscuits.
But it was problematic that the inventory didn’t retain heat as it was sort of a mental presence.
Yi Qiu brought spice packs and a stewing pot, so after pouring some water he could make some noodles. If he had time, he could heat up the pork chops too.
“Will you enter the battle map: Nightmare in the Ruins? Entering the battle will consume 250 Integrated Network Coins.”
“Yes”
“Consumed 250 Integrated Network Coins, teleporting into the battle map…”
A familiar dizzy feeling…
When Yi Qiu woke up he was amongst relatively barren ruins.
There were remaining bits of infrastructure around. Judging from the mostly complete buildings, the style of the architecture seemed to be Roman.
They were built of stone, rough but big pieces. Even after being abandoned for a long time, one could still see the majesty this city had when it was up and running.
As it was abandoned for too long, most of the buildings were in dilapidated.
Observing the surrounding buildings, this was a market.
Yi Qiu touched his bald head and after looking around, he focused his eyes on something.
He realized that there was a notification posted on one of the parts of the ruins.
“Adventurer:
This was a collection list from an alchemist. After you collect the items in the list, you can place them in a clay pot:
1: Giant spider poison sack 5 portions:
2. Red spider poison sack 5 portions:
3. White spider poison sack 5 portions:
4: White Fur Wolfman fur 100 portions:
…
…
”
Yi Qiu looked at the clay pot and realized that there was an old-looking wooden basket.
He touched his bald head and was too lazy to look at the notification. His main goal was to collect bloodline material, as for the others, they would be shelved aside.
It didn’t matter that the quest failed, anyway, he didn’t come here for that reward.
This battle map probably didn’t give any rare items, just some gold coins.
Since there were too few Integrated Network coin rewards from the dungeon, the forums would mainly reward one with coins for completing quests.
Normally, one would do something for the living beings in the battle map like collect items or kill enemies.
He looked around and walked deeper into the market.
Since the area was covered in broken stones, there were creaking sounds when Yi Qiu walked.
Since the buildings around were quite huge, even under the clear sunlight, the environment was a little dark.
As the building collapsed, the broken parts formed large shadows. Yi Qiu frowned. Luckily, he had Blind Fighting, otherwise, he would have been very passive in such an environment.
After all, spiders never relied on sight to capture prey. However, who knew whether the large spider would have any mutations.
After moving forward carefully for some time, he finally noticed something.
There was a human-shaped being hiding behind one of the shadows formed by a collapsed pillar.
It was as if he knew that Yi Qiu had noticed him, after fidgeting a bit, there was the sound of a bowstring being released.
“Xiu!”
