“Humph… I thought that you were very stubborn. So you’re afraid of dying as well!”
Zhou Kai taunted her as he looked at the enchanting woman.
The enchanting woman merely continued to stare at him with her venomous gaze.
Zhou Kai ignored her gaze and continued. “Since you’re afraid of dying, you should know that you must listen to me if you don’t want to die. From now on, follow… What’s your name?”
Zhou Kai looked at the old man.
He still did not know his name, although a long time had passed.
The old man hurriedly bowed, nodded, and smiled. “My last name is Tong, and my first name is Leqing.”
Zhou Kai raised his brows.
This surname is interesting!
“Old Tong, you shall be responsible for this lass from now on. I need an obedient maidservant. You have one day. If she fails to please me, I will kill her directly. I have no use for things that do not listen to me.”
“I refuse to follow him.”
Just as Tong Leqing was about to agree, the enchanting woman suddenly spoke sharply, as though each word she uttered was filled with pain and resentment.
Zhou Kai smiled. “Who do you want to follow then?”
The enchanting woman said, “You.”
Zhou Kai sized her up and grinned. “So you’re willing to do whatever I instruct you to?”
The enchanting woman remained expressionless, and her gaze was cold.
Zhou Kai, who was speechless, immediately lost any interest in teasing her.
She was indeed beautiful but she was a blockhead.
“Okay. From now on, you’ll be responsible for the cleanliness and upkeep of this entire place.” Zhou Kai instructed her. Then, he recalled something, looked at the enchanting woman, and said, “I did give you your freedom, but that does not mean that you can do whatever you want. None of you can harm any living organism without my consent. I will kill you if you disobey.”
Zhou Kai commanded them resolutely. There was no room for discussion.
Tong Leqing naturally bowed and agreed.
The enchanting woman was silent.
Zhou Kai stopped chatting and looked at the long saber.
After contemplating it for a short while, he did not force the evil thought.
This one was completely different from the enchanting woman and the old man.
It was akin to an unsociable man at a party. There was no need to seal it, for it would stay in its nest the whole day without moving.
Zhou Kai had no plans for it yet, although he had something in mind for the long saber itself.
He considered exploring the area with the saber in hand to test his mastery over saber techniques. Then, he heard Little Leopard Cat say, “I’m hungry, Big Brother.”
Zhou Kai paused while moving and looked at Little Leopard Cat speechlessly.
“Call and get takeout if you’re hungry. I’ve given you some money and even bought you a cell phone. Why are you telling me if you’re hungry?” Zhou Kai said unhappily.
Little Leopard Cat glared at him. “There’s no takeout anywhere around here.”
Zhou Kai froze for a while before recalling that he was no longer living in the city. He had moved to a place in the mountains. Even if takeout was possible, there were no signs there and no one would dare to accept the order.
“Oh yes. When you’re buying some everyday necessities later in the afternoon, buy some noodles and eggs as well. And you buy some egg noodles.” Zhou Kai looked at the enchanting woman.
The enchanting woman disappeared without speaking.
Little Leopard Cat whined in displeasure. “I want to eat meat, not noodles.”
“Eat, or buy your food yourself and come back when you’re full,” Zhou Kai replied without caring.
Little Leopard Cat instantly teared up and whimpered. “You’re my spirit owner. How can you treat me like this?”
Zhou Kai looked at Little Leopard Cat and laughed abruptly. “Are you sure that we have a soul contract?”
Little Leopard Cat grumbled. “Of course. I lent you my ability and I also obtained…”
She could not continue speaking when she saw Zhou Kai’s calm expression.
“How did you know that?” Little Leopard Cat asked curiously as her pitiful expression disappeared.
Zhou Kai said, “I’ll admit that I’m a greenhorn when it comes to the cultivation world. However, you’ve been underestimating me. I do not possess the same knowledge you do, but humans are the overlords of Earth because of their ability to learn.”
Zhou Kai continued to mock her. “I’ve viewed you as a child ever since I first got to know you. However, gradually, I discovered that I’m the actual child compared to someone as knowledgeable as you. Therefore, although you can control me, trick me with magic, and misguide me with your actions, you said something that woke me up.
“Anomalies are inhuman.”
Zhou Kai looked at Little Leopard Cat calmly after uttering that sentence.
Little Leopard Cat fell silent.
A long moment passed before she sighed. “You’re cleverer than I thought. You’re also cleverer than many people. I was really tempted to sign a soul contract with you, for your ability is very mysterious. You can exterminate souls and destroy evil thoughts. Even the evil spirit the Fox Spirit Lady worshiped failed to defeat you, which was unbelievable. Your future is limitless. People like you are in the top one percent of the entire human race. I faked the soul contract because I was afraid someone would snatch you up first. However, I had no intention of causing you harm and was truly thinking of forming a real soul contract with you.”
Zhou Kai curled his lip. “Let’s not talk about whether you had any intention of harming me. You have been using magic to trick me and pretending to be a child through the use of a fake soul contract. This was a lie, so I don’t trust you.”
Little Leopard Cat asked, “What about now? Are you going to chase me away?”
Zhou Kai shook his head. “I won’t, for you have helped me a lot. All my current knowledge of anomalies was taught to me by you, so you can be considered a guide of mine in this world. Based purely on this fact, you can stay here if you wish, regardless of how long you wish to stay. This way, it will be more convenient for me to ask you stuff as well.”
“What if I offer you a soul contract now? You’re currently qualified,” Little Leopard Cat commented.
Zhou Kai laughed. “Based on the fact that you faked a soul contract, it is clear as day that this is something extremely important. It is so important that it has to be done cautiously after deep consideration. You now think that I’m qualified, but I know nothing about you. Do you think that I’d be willing to do that?”
Little Leopard Cat declared, “I’m qualified because the bloodline of the spirit fox runs in me. You might not know what a spirit fox is but you should have heard of the nine-life cat demon. I have nine lives, and you could obtain half of them if you signed a soul contract with me.”
Zhou Kai said, “I refuse.”
Little Leopard Cat’s eyes widened. “How can you refuse this? Nine lives! This means that you can come back from the dead! How can you reject such a great benefit?”
Zhou Kai said, “I sense that what you’re saying is very similar to the CEOs who promised the newcomers that they could earn big bucks and prestige if they worked for their company. However, in reality, these companies are just empty shells.”
Little Leopard Cat was speechless.
“Therefore, don’t worry. I am currently different from my past self. This is all thanks to your teachings.”
Zhou Kai grinned with an increasingly calmer expression as he looked at Little Leopard Cat.
