Becoming God With Spirits - Chapter 50
Chapter 50: Making a Move When Necessary
“Sir, this is bad. A cultivator has set up a Dharma altar nearby.”
As Zhou Kai was silently digesting the inheritance information, Tong Leqing suddenly appeared beside him and spoke with a panicked expression.
Zhou Kai came back to his senses and asked in astonishment, “A cultivator? Is he formidable?”
Tong Leqing shook his head. “He doesn’t have a high Dao cultivation. However, it’s hard to figure out human cultivators. It will depend on the way he performs magic. Then, we will know whether he’s formidable.”
Zhou Kai was speechless.
This cultivator, who came out of nowhere, couldn’t have come here coincidentally. He’s already prepared to perform a ritual on the altar!
Is he targeting me or this villa?
As Zhou Kai thought about it, he lifted his arm. The picture of that spirit’s face was still on his wrist, just like a tattoo.
This thing was a curse that was a consequence of purchasing the villa and bearing the consequences for Da Xiong.
However, Da Xiong didn’t know that this curse was not putting any pressure on him.
To avoid trouble, Zhou Kai hadn’t removed the curse.
In his opinion, this might not be the end of this matter.
While being pensive, Zhou Kai decided to go out to take a look. If this was really the aftermath of this curse, he would not be polite. Although he had not caused trouble, he would kill those that did.
After asking where the cultivator’s Dharma altar was, Zhou Kai strode off with his long-handled saber.
As soon as he left the villa’s gate, he paused. An old white-haired Daoist priest had appeared in the forest not far ahead.
The priest, who seemed to have suddenly seen Zhou Kai, was stunned.
After they looked at each other, Zhou Kai gave him a kind smile.
The old Daoist priest’s gaze flickered and he straightened his body right away, instantly revealing the demeanor of an enlightened person. Then, he walked toward Zhou Kai, reached out to greet him, and said, “I’m sorry to bother you, kind man.”
Zhou Kai replied with a smile, “You’re being polite, but why are you looking for me?”
The old Daoist priest’s expression turned grave as he answered, “Kind man, I passed by the local area and saw an evil aura pervading the mountain top. Hence, I came to investigate and discovered that things are bad.”
After he said that, the old Daoist priest said, “Do you know you’re facing an imminent catastrophe, kind man?”
Zhou Kai’s expression became dissatisfied instantly. “Daoist priest, your words are too much. I’ve been staying here quietly. I don’t cause trouble, nor do I provoke anyone. Why would I face that?”
The old Daoist priest responded, “What I’ve said is true. I saw that your Yintang[1] is black. I’m sure that you’ve been targeted by an evil spirit. Well, if I’m right about reading your face, an anomaly has definitely appeared on your arm recently. That is the mark left behind by an evil spirit after harming people.”
Zhou Kai’s expression changed.
The old Daoist priest gave him a faint smile. This move had always gone smoothly. He only needed to perform some small tricks later on to be able to persuade people, and they would then worship him as a deity.
Mortals were always in awe of mystery.
While he was pleased, the old Daoist priest’s pupils suddenly shrank.
He had seen that Zhou Kai had suddenly struck him with his long saber like the wind. With a whoosh, the saber had slashed past the old Daoist priest’s neck.
This move seemed to be an attack that Zhou Kai had deliberately launched with all his strength. Even Iron Man would have been cut into half.
Despite having a cultivation, the old Daoist priest used magic. He was a rotten old man himself, so how could his body withstand Zhou Kai’s attack with full force?
When the saber light appeared, the old Daoist priest’s head flew away with a whoosh and landed seven to eight meters away before rolling twice. His neck then spewed out hot blood.
When his head landed on the ground, his eyes were open wide. It could be said that he had died with a grievance.
This isn’t right!
I have killed someone! This is crazy!
Zhou Kai was relieved after using that saber move.
Tong Leqing had said that this cultivator was not simple. Even though Zhou Kai had just met him for the first time, he was filled with anxiety and he had deliberately acted dumb.
However, even though this old Daoist priest had been formidable, he had only been formidable when he’d used his magic. His physique should have been mediocre.
Thanks to the saber, the corpse had been separated, so it shouldn’t be possible to carry out a ritual!
As he calmed down his mind, Zhou Kai saw the headless corpse that was spurting blood out of its neck and frowned a bit.
This was his first time killing someone.
Despite encountering many spirits, he had dealt with many anomalies, so his way of thinking had changed greatly long ago.
However, Zhou Kai felt disgusted, terrible, and helpless. He had killed someone of his own kind.
He was invincible against anomalies, so he wasn’t afraid of them. However, things were different with his kind. It would be hard for him to escape if someone shot him from afar, let alone if it was a cultivator.
This old Daoist priest clearly came for me and spouted nonsense. Either he would die, or I would have. What more is there to say?
Well, there’s also this curse.
He’d wanted to leave it, as it might let Ye Zheng feel more at ease. It was best that they didn’t trouble each other.
Now, it seemed that he had been too kind!
As his gaze turned cold, Zhou Kai unleashed the Exorcism power, which swarmed out and covered his arm.
While Zhou Kai was doing that, that spirit’s face suddenly floated with black light before rapidly fading and vanishing.
Zhou Kai was stunned. He repeatedly checked it with the Exorcism power, but he saw that this curse seemed to have vanished from his body without a trace.
What is going on?
Could this old Daoist priest have been the one who had bestowed this curse? Was this curse gone now that he had died?
Zhou Kai, who didn’t know much about evil magic, didn’t let his imagination run wild. He looked for Tong Leqing to ask him to take away the old Daoist priest’s corpse and clean up the bloodstains. Then, he let Tong Leqing know that the old Daoist priest’s soul would be given to him as a reward. Tong Leqing felt overjoyed upon hearing the unexpected good news.
A cultivator’s soul was great nourishment. His strength would definitely soar after he consumed it, and he wouldn’t need to worry about his kind having him in her mind.
After handing everything over to Tong Leqing to handle it, Zhou Kai continued to walk.
Although the old Daoist priest had died, the Dharma altar he had set up was still present. Zhou Kai wanted to take a good look at it to eliminate any future trouble.
At the same time, in a huge lavish conference room on the highest floor of a skyscraper in Los Angeles, USA, a group of people, including Ye Zheng, were having a meeting. Even though he had a high status, his foreign language skills were very horrible. He couldn’t hear what the people there were saying. He was only there as a representative, and his work was done by his assistant.
However, Ye Zheng also put on a serious look and acted well.
While he was listening to the meeting, he suddenly felt uncomfortable all over. It seemed as though his back was very itchy, but it wouldn’t look good if he scratched. However, he felt uncomfortable not doing so as well.
Finally, he could no longer tolerate the itch and reached out to scratch his back. Unfortunately, his back got itchier the more he scratched it. Besides his back, other parts of his body started becoming itchy as well.
When Ye Zheng pulled up his sleeves by accident, he felt his blood run cold. The curse of the spirit’s face, which had caused him to have an uneasy day and night before it had finally shifted away, had suddenly appeared again. Furthermore, the spirit’s face was fierce and looked particularly scary.
“This… This… This is impossible. I…” While Ye Zheng scratched it madly, he jumped up in horror, shocking the other people attending the meeting.
There were black people, white people, men, and women who were all elites of society. When they noticed the disturbance, they looked dissatisfied. Soon, they were all frightened out of their wits. Words such as ‘oh my god’, ‘no’, ‘God’, and ‘demons’ were uttered. Then, they quickly avoided him.
Ye Zheng’s body was festering at the moment, and it seemed as if someone had splashed sulfuric acid all over him.
“Save me, save me…” Ye Zheng pleaded as he rushed toward the others while scratching his flesh.
However, nobody dared to touch him now. The group of people screamed and dispersed one by one. Even Ye Zheng’s assistant was nowhere to be seen.
