Big Data Cultivation - Chapter 390
Chapter 390: Chapter 390: Testing Spiritual Energy for the First Time (Third Update, Summoning Double Monthly Tickets)
Feng Jun had cultivated for a full three days and nights this time.
He finally broke through the threshold of the Qi Refinement Realm, breezing through in one go, which was very, very smooth.
Although there were some accidents, broadly speaking, the cultivation process was controllable and the outcome was gratifying.
After reflecting for half a day, Feng Jun looked around and found that the plants in the area had grown excessively lush, almost as if they’d been on steroids, and even the small insects were very active.
He could understand this situation, but also felt helpless, as such phenomena would become the norm unless he carried out his cultivation in isolation in the future.
Feng Jun took out a walkie-talkie from his bag and spoke softly, “You guys come over and tidy this place up.”
Promptly, Xu Leigang’s voice came through the walkie-talkie, “Look, I knew Master would notice us.”
Xu Leigang and the other two were less than five hundred meters away from Feng Jun, watching this patch of concrete ground from a distance.
Why could the three of them be here? The reason is simple—there was a flat-haired beast that was too strange.
On rainy days, shouldn’t crows be clinging to the pavilion on the artificial mountain and not leaving?
Gazi never cared about the movement of crows—as long as they weren’t fluttering around him.
Wang Haifeng and Xu Leigang were also not interested in crows, but after Fatty Xu visited his home and saw Little Princess, he passed by the mountain gate on his way back and saw people burning incense and also heard about the legend of “Lord Lei.”
When he arrived at the villa, he found the crow was not in the pavilion. It was not a big deal if the crow was gone for one day, but it was still absent on the second day, which was indeed strange.
The rain these days had been on and off, and during the breaks in rainfall, due to the fresh air and high visibility, they finally spotted the crow circling in the distance.
The three of them pursued it and discovered that the place where the crow was circling was the newly constructed concrete platform by Master Feng, where a sun umbrella was still erected and someone was underneath it.
Before this, Feng Jun had mentioned that he would be staying outside for a while, and nobody expected that by “going out,” the Master meant sitting cross-legged right here.
Wang Haifeng and Xu Leigang wanted to get even closer, but were stopped by Gazi, “Brother Jun must have a reason for not letting us know.”
After observing for one day and noticing that Feng Jun didn’t move, their curiosity grew even larger, so they continued to come over the next day.
Upon hearing Feng Jun asking them to come over, the three could only exchange glances and come over sheepishly.
But, watching from a distance is one thing, facing it up close is entirely different; upon approaching and seeing the growth of the surrounding vegetation, they couldn’t help but change their expressions.
Wang Haifeng, without much tact, voiced his amazement directly, “These grasses… wow, are dandelions supposed to be that big?”
Gazi was so scared that he couldn’t even speak; he had grown up in a small county town and knew these things all too well.
It was Xu Leigang who was more slick, and after the shock, he chuckled dryly, “This is Master, after all. Our teacher… even if there are anomalies, aren’t they normal?”
“Alright, no more chattering,” Feng Jun said with a smile and a wave of his hand, “You’re cultivating, and so am I. I’ll be using this place from now on, and sooner or later it’s your turn… Just don’t tell anyone else, okay?”
“Holy moly!” Wang Haifeng pointed at Feng Jun, his face filled with astonishment, “You, you… the rain doesn’t wet you?”
Xu Leigang and Gazi also gasped in surprise.
The rain wasn’t heavy, but it was steady, yet when Feng Jun stepped out from under the sun umbrella, it was as if he wore an invisible raincoat. All rain falling from the sky stopped about an inch above his head and then diverted to slide off to the ground.
“What’s the big deal?” Feng Jun said with an indifferent smile, “It’s just External Release of Inner Qi… All three of you will be able to do it eventually.”
“Can I do it too?” Xu Leigang exclaimed excitedly.
He always felt that he was the slowest to advance among the three; of course, he did not believe that he had the least potential, it’s just that… he was getting on in years.
Feng Jun glanced at him, “If you can’t even do this, it’s not an issue of potential, it’s that you plan to be dishonest to your lineage.”
Upon hearing this, everyone burst into loud laughter.
Wang Haifeng’s organizational skills were quite strong. Even though it was raining, he still managed to find some farmworkers to clean up the weeds around and then planted some bamboo.
Due to reasons of humidity and temperature, bamboo plants are not common in Funiu and their growth speed is not as good as reputed.
But since it’s bamboo, if it grows a bit faster, no one can really say anything about it, right?
As for how much secret this place held, Wang Haifeng and the others were all very curious, but no one asked.
Weeding is fast, but planting bamboo… that takes a process.
The next afternoon, when Feng Jun arrived again, the grass and shrubs around had basically been cleared, and there was even a mini excavator parked next to it—looking at its size, it seemed to be made by Ni Hong.
No one knew how the excavator got there.
The excavator took a day and a half to dig up the surroundings, and as for the planting of the bamboo, they would have to wait a little longer, at least until this period of damp weather passed.
Feng Jun, however, seized the time to stabilize his cultivation level.
The Devouring Primordial Heaven Technique was quite marvelous. To put it nicely, it was rather domineering and could ignore many factors to rapidly increase a cultivator’s cultivation level. To put it unpleasantly, this thing was simply a spirit stone killer, a resource destroyer.
Fortunately, though, the moral integrity of this cultivation technique was rather decent. It belonged to the “spend money and you will become stronger” type, rather than the “spend money and you still might not become stronger” type.
In just three days, Feng Jun had reached the peak of the Qi Refinement First Layer, but the spiritual energy in twenty-seven spirit stones had also been mostly depleted.
Then… he planned to take a rest.
According to the Chaos Sky Swallowing Technique, he could advance unhindered to the third layer of Qi Refinement and then take a few months to digest and stabilize his cultivation level. However, Feng Jun felt there was no need to advance so quickly. It was better to first familiarize himself with the spiritual energy within his body.
The issue was… there weren’t many spirit stones left. At most, he could set up another Heaven-Swallowing Formation once more before he would have to start mining.
In fact, there was a significant difference between cultivators and martial cultivators. Feng Jun believed that his previous internal breath only qualified as “Inner Qi,” whereas his current internal breath, which he once called immortal Qi, in truth, was merely “Spiritual Energy.”
True immortal Qi should be of a higher order, capable of doing wonders like reviving the dead or mending broken bones – not too far off, at least.
The Spiritual Energy currently inside him had some similar effects, but it was still far from enough.
Back at the villa, he wanted to buy some live chickens to test the effects of the Spiritual Energy.
Wang Haifeng happened to be going out and volunteered, “I’ll get them for you.”
Coach Wang had no experience buying chickens, so he chose the quiet, clean ones. He bought eight chickens, but when he got back, he discovered that six were already dead and the remaining two could hardly stand, barely breathing.
Gazi was experienced and knew what was wrong at a glance, “Why did you buy these fast-fattening feed chickens? They die if you just touch them.”
“Huh?” Coach Wang was taken aback, “I thought they were just docile.”
“Fast-fattened, soft-boned even if they look big,” Gazi spoke with experience, “You don’t even need to kill these chickens. Just put them on the ground, chase them a couple of steps, and they’ll thrash themselves to death with a few flaps.”
“Then I’ll go buy some again, some free-range chickens,” Wang Haifeng turned to leave, “I thought the docile ones would be better for the test.”
“No need,” Feng Jun came over, “these two… are just fine.”
He stepped forward, stroked one chicken, and then its legs kicked out, launching it over a meter high.
When it landed, its body shook, and then went still. After a while, fresh blood seeped from the corner of its mouth.
Wang Haifeng, Xu Leigang, and Gazi looked at Feng Jun in unison, thinking to themselves what is Master Feng doing, was it necessary to be so dramatic just to kill a chicken?
The input of Spiritual Energy was a bit too harsh! Feng Jun’s mouth twitched, then he waved them off, “Go busy yourselves!”
For the remaining chicken, Feng Jun thought for a moment, prepared a small bowl of water, touched it with the tip of his finger, sending a thread of Spiritual Energy into the water, then held the bowl up to the chicken’s head.
The chicken clearly sensed the Spiritual Energy in the water. Its eyes were rolling back as it strained to stand, but it was truly… weakened, barely gasping for breath.
Feng Jun observed its condition, pondered for a moment, then picked up the bowl and splashed the water onto the chicken.
Half an hour later, the chicken actually flipped over and stood up. Although it was still not looking very spirited, at least it wasn’t on the verge of death anymore.
Wang Haifeng and the others went on to cultivate, not giving further thought to the fate of the chicken – was a creature worth only some twenty-odd dollars worth their concern?
However, when they saw the chicken the next day, everyone was a bit shocked: it could actually fight with crows now?
Feng Jun didn’t pay much attention to the chicken; he simply scattered some rice in a corner of the yard and placed a small bowl of water.
In just one night, the chicken had regained much of its spirit, even to a better state than anyone would have imagined.
At least it could walk around, though still wobbly. Given that it was a fast-fattening broiler, one couldn’t expect too much – this might have been the best physical condition in its brief life.
It was in good condition, but the crows didn’t consent. They wanted to dash over and steal the water – they weren’t inclined to pass up such spiritually rich water.
In fact, the crow wanted to steal the drink yesterday but refrained because of someone nearby. Today, it couldn’t hold back any longer.
However, despite being young and frail, the chicken’s primal instinct told it that this water could not be taken. It was a treasure worth guarding with its life.
So it dragged its fragile, bloated body, ready to battle the demon from the sky.
Its attitude put the crow in a bit of a quandary. King Crow believed that the creature below couldn’t endure its sharp beak and claws, nor would it dare to fight to the death.
But the water was given by that man, and the crow had to consider, if it severely harmed the other party, would it bring misfortune upon itself?
Just then, Wang Haifeng and the other two walked over.
