Blood-Sucking Empress - Chapter 29
“You didn’t take good care of yourself?” Looking at the haggard person lying listlessly on the bed, Qianhe Liyou sat down at the edge of the bed while asking. Luo Weiqing’s hair was a little messy, and she helped to tidy it.
Luo Weiqing stared at the Qianhe Liyou who had suddenly emerged in front of him. For a long while, he was in a daze, not knowing how to react, thinking that the figure in front of him was but a mere illusion, a trick of the mind. It wasn’t until a cold touch traced his face and nimbly helped to tidy up his hair that he knew the Empress had really come to look in on him.
‘Empress, why has Your Majesty come here, this consort greets the Empress…” Luo Weiqing’s greeting was stopped by Qianhe Liyou. Qianhe Liyou firmly held Luo Weiqing’s shoulders in place with both hands, shaking her head, and said, “No need to bother with a greeting. If you are unwell, you must take care of your health first.” She had never fallen ill before, but she intuitively believed that those who had fallen ill were very weak and needed someone to take care of them.
“Thank you for Your Majesty’s concern, this consort is fine.” Luo Weiqing quickly lowered his eyes, not wanting the Empress to see the deep loneliness contained within his dark eyes. He had thought the Empress never wanted to see him again…
You say everything is fine, but just look at this, it doesn’t look like everything is fine. Qianhe Liyou thought so in her heart but did not say it aloud. She deftly straightened out the embroidered quilt she had disheveled just now, wrapping Luo Weiqing’s entire body with the quilt. She then quietly sat down.
Luo Weiqing lay on the bed obediently, feeling the Empress’ obvious care and concern for him. His heart felt very warm and fuzzy, and there was a trace of joy between his eyebrows. However, it was just that after a long period of time, the Empress still sat there silently, not saying anything, which made him feel a bit baffled, “ Empress, you…” Asking the Empress what’s wrong? He felt that it was not proper to ask such a question, but did not know what other words could be said to replace the question remaining in his heart.
“Go to sleep, stop randomly thinking.” Each of these people all thought too much, which is why they made themselves so unhappy. Didn’t people live to be happy? Why bother to make oneself suffer as so?
“Your Majesty is not leaving?” When Luo Weiqing blurted out this question, his expression looked very pitiful and the glimmering anticipation in his eyes was also tremendously obvious. He did not want the Empress to leave. These past few days, from dusk till dawn, all he thought about was the woman in front of him. He was not like this in the past, but since returning from the Empress’ side, he had found that he had changed. He was no longer so indifferent who didn’t have anything in his glass heart. There was now an extra figure in his heart. This figure gave off a cold aura, but it still made him feel a little warm and a bit of longing.
“Zhen is here to accompany you.” She originally had no such intentions, but after hearing that he had fallen sick, she came over to take a look. He was her first ‘food’ she had nourished herself off of. She did not want him to fall sick, but she also did not want to disappoint the person in front of her, who kept looking at her with such twinkling, expectant eyes.
Luo Weiqing’s eyes brightened, instantly shifting into an overjoyed expression. Then, as if he recalled something, his soft and elegant eyebrows were etched with a bit of shyness. He spoke very softly: “Your Majesty can come and rest, here, this bed is very wide…” Such an outright and bold invitation was really embarrassing to say it out loud, but since the Empress had already said she didn’t plan on leaving, naturally he could not let the Empress just sit there and watch him rest.
Qianhe Liyou was quiet, but just looked at Luo Weiqing. Luo Weiqing’s face slowly began to redden, and his eyes darted down as he didn’t dare to look at Qianhe Liyou anymore. With a bit of shyness, he elaborated: “This consort is thinking that Your Majesty must be tired after a busy day, and Your Majesty should have a good rest….”
Rolling onto the bed, Qianhe Liyou’s swift movements allowed him to neatly lay on the interior side of the wide bed. She slightly faced sideways, wrapping her arms on Luo Weiqin’s bedding, resting her head on Luo Weiqing’s shoulders, “Rest.”
Luo Weiqing was feeling a little nervous. The soft weight of Qianhe Liyou’s arms on his body made him unable to completely ignore it. The breathing sound near his ears was also very light and faint, but it still made him tremble.
About a quarter of an hour later, Qianhe Liyou suddenly sat up, gazing at Luo Weiqing with gloomy eyes. Luo Weiqing noticed Qianhe Liyou’s sudden movements, his eyes cracking open, but not daring to look directly at her.
“Empress, what’s wrong?”
“If you keep acting like this, zhen is returning to Qin Palace.” She just wanted him to recover faster and hadn’t wanted to disappoint him, so she had stayed behind. However, if her presence made it more difficult for him to rest, then she could leave right now.
“No.” Hearing Qianhe Liyou say that she was going to leave, Luo Weiqing was so much in a rush that he temporarily forgot decorum. He stretched out his hand and took Qianhe Liyou’s hand, anxiously clutching onto it.
“Zhen doesn’t have to leave, but you have to make sure that you will fall asleep as soon as possible.” Although Luo Weiqing had kept his eyes shut as if he was asleep, she could still hear the disorderly patterns in his breathing. Not only was it not the appearance of someone falling asleep, but rather it looked like his mind was wandering, indulging in flights of fancy.
Luo Weiqing tightly clasped Qianhe Liyou’s hand, his expression aggrieved. He had also wanted to peacefully rest, but she was lying beside him.
“Empress…Your Majesty, please take this consort…” Since childhood, Luo Weiqing had been an adamant follower of proper etiquette. This was because he was the Eldest Son of the Luo Clan’s Matriarch. He knew his destiny since he was very young. Entering the Imperial palace, becoming a concubine and now a King. He had been educated in this way, mastering the four arts (zither, chess, calligraphy, and painting), educated and well-balanced, very knowledgeable in all four areas. He had never done any willful things because he was not permitted. This was the first time he had acted so impulsive and rashly as he wanted to.
Although this sentence made Luo Weiqing’s face burn with shame, he did not regret it. He had entered the Imperial palace for two years, and the Empress had still never summoned him to serve her. In the past, he had been apathetic towards the Empress and rather felt that he was quite fortunate. But now, he only felt disappointed and lonely. He no longer wanted to be so alienated from the Empress, and only wanted to hug her tightly.
Luo Weiqing’s sudden words had also surprised Qianhe Liyou. How could this man’s personality span so much?
“Is it because you have fallen ill that you are confused?” Qianhe Liyou put her other upheld hand on Luo Weiqing’s forehead, seriously observing the man’s condition.
Seeing Qianhe Liyou’s seriousness, Luo Weiqing felt even more abashed. His mouth closed and opened, but he did not have the courage to say the words he had just said again. For such an educated and dignified man like Luo Weiqing, how could such shameful words be repeated?
“This consort is fine…” Luo Weiqing closed his eyes and burrowed evasively into the warm quilt, leaving only a few fine strands of black hair peeking out from under the quilt.
Qianhe Liyou’s hand had stagnated in the air for a slight moment, her thoughts flowing from doubt to clarity and then finally to hesitation. It seemed that it was only right for her to act accordingly, but she did not have such thoughts, and her body did not have such desires. The only time she had ever felt the impulse was under the influence of drugs, but due to her extremely powerful self-control and discipline, nothing had happened. But now, this problem was much bigger than just a ‘problem’ and instead should be addressed. She couldn’t always keep these people widowed and live a lonesome life in the palace.
The Empress’ silence made Luo Weiqing, who was hiding in his quilt, unable to see the entire situation, a little worried. He couldn’t help but wonder if his words had been too shameless and had irked the Empress, or that his request had been too excessive and that the Empress did not like him, not wanting him.
As his thoughts raced, Luo Weiqing felt both scared and wronged. At this moment, the warm quilt was lifted off of him, a pair of soft and slender hands reached in, a gentle, but powerful strength pulled Luo Weiqing from the depths of his quilt.
Luo Weiqing was still in a panic, but then felt a cold, but soft sensation falling onto his lips…
