Childcare Diaries - Chapter 122
Chapter 122
Epilogue. Their stories that have not yet been told — 01
The County always had a friendly vibe, but after Marie and Kentrail got married, that became even more vivid. All members of the mansion were having a happy time. Among them, the people who had the best time were the newlyweds, the Count and his wife.
“Sometimes when I go to work here and go home, it feels like my whole body has goosebumps.”
“That’s right. I had a fight with my husband in the morning, but when I went home, that feeling disappeared by itself, and I was expressing my affection without realizing it.”
The maids gathered and giggled.
They said it was all because of the Count couple. Meanwhile, the number of marriages among employees also increased. The butler didn’t know whether to like the sight or not.
“Oh, please let me down quickly.”
“Why? Your leg hurts. I’ll just carry you down.”
Unaware of the butler’s concerns, the Count couple was having a sweet time on this floor. The butler, who was used to pretending not to see his master’s actions were now sick of it.
“Other people will see it and mock me.”
“If they want to see it, let them see it because it’s more important that you don’t get hurt.”
Clearly knowing the butler was waiting on the first floor, Marie rolled her legs while being hugged by Kentrail. Still, his childlike behavior was actually so cute that she laughed.
“What if the Young Master or Ellie sees it?”
“They will think we are on very good terms, and you called him young master again.”
When Marie married Kentrail, Brielle’s title changed though her old habits would come out if she were a little vigilant.
Looking straight at her awkward smile, he said.
“We must have promised something.”
“That’s what you unilaterally decided.”
“You obviously agreed, didn’t you?”
Every time Marie called Brielle ‘Young Master,’ or she called Kentrail ‘Count,’ she agreed to kiss him. Even though it was a rule he established one day while kissing in the mood, he really became a demanding person.
‘It’s a problem that I don’t hate it…’
Marie let out a deep sigh, and she kissed him.
“Huh? Our promise isn’t like this. A little more boldly…”
His eyes shone as he continued to play mischief while still holding her, perhaps she wasn’t heavy. She didn’t want to do it for some reason and raised her hand to press his mouth.
Then, laughter erupted from his mouth.
As Kentrail’s laughter had changed before she knew it, Marie smiled because she liked the way he laughed, and she looked at him for a while.
“I love you.”
Suddenly, she wanted to express it.
“I love you, too.”
“I love you more.”
“I don’t think so. I love you more.”
“No. I love you more.”
“Haa, I didn’t mean to say this until now. I love you more than my life.”
Today, the love battle between the two began.
In the meanwhile, the butler sighed, knowing that the two would repeat that for at least ten minutes, and moved on to tell that the breakfast would be delayed.
Several bright paintings by Kentrail were hung on the white wall of the dining room. Next to it, hanging plants with vines were coming down from the ceiling. In addition, the chair that had been custom-made for the babies had disappeared, and now there were five adult chairs.
“Ellie. Is this what it means to lose your appetite?”
Brielle, who was eating breakfast, rolled up the salad and put down the fork and asked Ellie.
“I agree.”
As Ellie also put the soup spoon on the table, the eyes of the two children were looking at the same place.
It was just the two of them, Marie and Kentrail.
In the morning, Kentrail prepared sherbet, which he usually didn’t eat, and put it in front of Marie. He said that since last night she said she wanted to eat it. The children would have thought so until that point, but now, he was trying to feed the sorbet directly with a spoon.
Ellie and Brielle’s appetites, who witnessed the scene, were disappearing.
“He’s my uncle, but…”
Brielle, who omitted the rest of the words, shook his head. Marie was embarrassed to see the children, so she couldn’t open her mouth. However, when he pushed the spoon up to her nose, she eventually gave in and opened her small mouth to eat it.
“The same goes for my sister.”
Ellie decided to eat separately from tomorrow morning.
“You will do that once you get married, too.”
Barry said that this was like it once they fell in love and comforted the two children. It reminded him of meeting his lover yesterday and feeding her parfait, so he supported Marie and Kentrail all the more.
“Hmph. It’s not going to be that bad anyway.”
Ellie and Briel finished the meal with a boast.
“Now, don’t do that in front of the children.”
After work, Marie and Kentrail went to bed together. Unlike other nobles, the Count couple used only one bedroom without preparing a separate bedroom.
“That what?”
Lying next to each other on the bed, Kentrail asked her as he placed his arm as a pillow. Marie felt awkward at first, but soon she got used to this position.
“It’s our expression. You better restrain yourself a little.”
It reminded her of the children not eating in the morning.
“I am holding back a lot.”
She glanced up at him with a face as if saying, ‘That?’ She liked it, but she was also embarrassed.
“It’s true. I want to feed you everything, carry you around, and kiss you in between.”
Marie, who had been imagining his words, shook her head. She almost said, ‘I’d love to.’
“You won’t?”
Kentrail asked as he took her hand. At the same time, his eyes, reflected in the flickering light, were always dangerous.
“Yes. No, never.”
She, who had managed to make up her heart, made eye contact with him and spoke firmly.
“Oh, no… that’s unfortunate.”
He smiled, gently curving his eyes, then put his thumb on the back of her hand and kissed it there.
‘…Where does he learn stuff like that? My heart beats too fast.’
Her wildly beating heart drove her crazy every time he did this. Even though she thought marriage would dull her feelings of love, that was all wrong.
“We’ve been through so much, and I almost lost you… that’s why I want to stay true to my feelings now. The children will gradually adapt. They say showing a friendly side is good for children’s emotions?”
He was the one who brought up what Marie had said that one day parents’ kindness and caring for each other would make the children stable.
‘Yes. Let’s be faithful to our emotions at this moment. To think that I had forgotten what I felt through such hardships… if it weren’t for him, I would still be in a hurry to hide my feelings.’
After Marie made that decision, she couldn’t hide her feelings for him.
“Let’s sleep then.”
Her own feelings were currently still ongoing.
Marie made a bold move before he could kiss her.
As the forces threatening the County disappeared and they even got married, the two of them, Marie and Kentrail, found stability. In the meantime, there were subtle changes between the two. It was that Marie would play pranks on him from time to time.
“In the place where I lived, there were many cases where one party managed all the economic rights after marriage.”
It was the family he had inherited, the family he had built, and the economic concept of this world was difficult to catch up with a small citizen’s thinking. While Marie had never thought of taking over the economy herself, she was curious about his reaction, so she jokingly brought it up.
“Economics?”
“Yes. Mainly the bankbook… Ah—well, here… a statement of the family’s in-kind assets…”
“I know what you’re talking about.”
Kentrail listened with shining eyes as she talked about the world where she lived. It was because he was curious about the world in which she lived.
“Mothers used to take care of that a lot where I lived.”
There was also a family where the father managed it, but Marie, expecting the attitude Kentrail would take, left it out and continued her remarks.
“The father lives on allowances.”
“Allowances? Like what Brielle gets?”
“Yes.”
He asked several times about the concept of allowance, perhaps the idea of receiving pocket money was strange. Marie made it clear that they would normally receive a share of the annual budget allocated to the spouse of the head of the family.
“Haerin, you want to do that as well?”
Kentrail would suddenly call out Marie’s real name when Marie told him where she lived. Then, whenever he did, her heart sank and her emotions jumped up, in a good way, of course.
“Yes…”
She carried on her pranks, hiding her excitement.
“Good. Then, I will call the treasurer who manages our family and tell you that I will give you all the rights along with the details of the property.”
“…Yes?”
However, she didn’t expect that he would hand over everything to her so easily. Her mouth fell open.
“Then I will be getting an allowance. How much are you going to give me?”
While Marie didn’t say anything, he looked at her as if he was really curious and asked.
“How much do you need?”
“Just enough to buy you anything you want?”
“….”
At those following words, she thought he was joking. It was not even an exact amount, and he only said he was going to buy her something. Marie just rolled her eyes and turned her attention to another subject.
She had heard that the family head was in charge of the property, so she passed on this lightly.
…That was, until the treasurer really came the next day.
When she looked at the papers the treasurer gave her, she couldn’t help but ask if Kentrail really instructed him to do so.
“…You said he really wants to hand over all his property rights to me?”
