Chapter 40 They’re Here?!
His uncle could no longer remember the scene of being beaten up clearly.
He only remembered that a group of people surrounded him after entering the door. The black mass almost blocked all the light. Then, fists rained down on his uncle’s body with unpleasant swear words.
The angry fruit farmers cursed their uncle with the most vicious curses. They relied on their numbers to vent their malice.
“I don’t remember how long the beating lasted. All I remember is that my body hurt. When it was light again, there was no one around. My leg hurt so much that I couldn’t move. I lay on the ground for a long time before I could react.”
“How despicable!” Qiu Lingruo slapped her thigh and stood up angrily. “Uncle, why didn’t you call the police! One would go to jail if he hit someone no matter whether or not he was being owed money!”
His uncle shook his head and looked at his hanging leg in frustration. He continued, “Forget it, their losses were huge too. At that time, I was really in so much pain that I couldn’t stand up. When I called your cousin and no one answered. I could only call the emergency number myself. However, I didn’t have much money on me, so I could only come to this cheap small hospital.”
He had been forced into a corner and was seriously injured. He didn’t even have anyone to take care of him. It was inconvenient to have his legs hanging. He didn’t eat if he could help it. He even had to be forced to the limit before he could sip a little water.
Later on, the hospital urged him to pay the hospital fees. His uncle did not have enough money on him, so he had no choice but to call Kong Xiuyao’s father.
“Xiuyao, it’s been hard on you to come all the way here for me,” Uncle said guiltily. “You’ve been working hard outside for so long, but Uncle hasn’t helped you much.”
Perhaps it was because of the influence of blood ties, but the oldest person in the family always felt responsible for the other family members. If they had the energy to help, they would want to help.
His uncle felt deeply guilty for not being able to lighten the burden on his family.
This made Kong Xiuyao feel even worse. “It’s okay, Uncle. I came up here to take care of you. I’ll definitely help you resolve everything! Let the person who framed you pay the price!”
Kong Xiuyao spoke truthfully without any exaggeration. After all, none of his disciples were pushovers!
However, when these words landed in his uncle’s ears, it was only a warm comfort. He shook his head and smiled bitterly. “Forget it, Xiuyao. I’m tired too. Since you’re here, help me get discharged. I want to go home.”
Kong Xiuyao looked at his uncle, who was in a daze, and felt terrible.
In his mind, his uncle had always been the giant who refused to admit defeat. After 10 years of not seeing him, he had aged more than he had imagined. His dark face was covered with knife-cut wrinkles, and he was in high spirits. His eyelids could only half open.
“Uncle, if you want to go home, I’ll arrange it immediately. But I’ll definitely help you resolve your company’s matters!” Kong Xiuyao said firmly.
Hearing this, his uncle looked surprised. He was silent for a long time, not knowing how to respond.
At this moment, the door of the ward was suddenly violently opened. A few people dressed as farmers stood angrily at the door, followed by a few men in suits.
This strange combination revealed a different aura.
Kong Xiuyao immediately felt that something was amiss. He stood up and blocked his uncle’s bed. He said coldly, “Who are you looking for?”
“Find him!” said the leader, a man with a straw hat around his neck. “Kong, you think you’ll be all right after hiding out here? Pay
up!”
It seemed that they were here to collect debts! Then they were most likely the murderers who had beaten up Uncle!
Kong Xiuyao narrowed his eyes dangerously. His cold eyes were filled with warmth as he stared at them and shivered. “Were you the ones who hit my uncle?”
“So what if it’s us?” the straw-hatted man said arrogantly. “It’s only right and proper to repay a debt! He caused us to suffer heavy losses. If we can’t take out the money, we can’t beat him up to vent our anger! You, as his nephew, still want to stand out? Fine, bring out the money!”
“Money is not a problem,” Kong Xiuyao said calmly. “As long as you tell me who ordered you, the money will be transferred immediately!”
Even though the words were directed at the straw-hatted man, Kong looked past them to the man in the suit at the end of the crowd, especially with the logo “Green Friendship” on their chests.
It didn’t take a genius to figure out that this was all Green Friendship’s revenge, but there was no evidence now. Kong Xiuyao needed to find someone to testify.
“Huh?” The straw-hat man didn’t believe Kong Xiuyao could take out the money and sneered. “Do you think we’d be so stupid as to tell you it was…”
As the mastermind was circling the man’s mouth, the man in the suit suddenly interrupted him. “Can the gentlemen in front make way? We have something to check with Mr. Kong.”
They pretended not to know each other. As soon as the man in the suit spoke, the straw hat man and the others immediately moved aside. The upper and lower classes were not too obvious.
There were two men in suits behind the man in the suit. He walked to the foot of the bed and looked mockingly at his uncle’s injured leg hanging in midair. He said slowly, “Kong Minggu, do you remember me?”
“I’ll remember even if you turn to ashes!” Uncle gritted his teeth. “Li Dong, what are you doing here!
Li Dong was his uncle’s former colleague. When his uncle was persecuted by Green Friendship’s Company, Li Dong was also involved. The two of them were both technicians. Li Dong’s ability was not as good as his uncle’s, so he used some crooked methods to try to push his uncle away.
He looked down at his uncle as if he was the victor. He took out a photocopy from the folder he carried with him and shook it twice in front of his uncle. “Kong Minggu, according to the company’s investigation, you left your post at the same time as you left your post and used your company’s patent to develop a new pesticide. According to the contract, you are still a member of the company. The new pesticide developed belongs to the company.”
