Chapter 762: Chapter 762: Identity Exposed
Xaviera knew Lester Bank would attend the exhibition, but how could Tracy Swift have the nerve to be present?
The organizer noticed that Xaviera was staring at Tracy’s name and explained: “Miss Hayin, this Miss Swift is Mr. Lester Bank’s disciple, so the exhibition made an exception to let her participate and provide one piece of artwork.”
Xaviera appeared indifferent. It wasn’t surprising that Tracy and Lester had become master and disciple again—it was only natural since they had the same interests.
However, the last time they were at Fragrant House, she had tested Tracy and found that she couldn’t paint. How could her skill level have improved enough to participate in the exhibition in just a few days?
After a moment of reflection, Xaviera figured it out. Lester was fond of having others paint for him, and he had so many disciples. It wouldn’t be difficult for him to find one to paint for Tracy without anyone noticing.
Xaviera continued to scan the list of names but didn’t see the one she was looking for. Disappointed, she asked, “Mr. Cold Night hasn’t arrived yet?”
The organizer looked surprised. “You mean, Mr. Cold Night?”
“Yes!” Xaviera didn’t understand.
The organizer gave the naive-looking girl a meaningful look. “Miss Hayin, since you and Mr. Cold Night are so close, you should know whether he’s coming or not!”
Although Mr. Cold Night hadn’t arrived, he had previously called saying that he would attend with Miss Hayin!
Xaviera didn’t show any surprise at these words and casually explained, “I don’t actually know Cold Night. I chose this name just because I am a fan of his!”
The organizer frowned, looking at the words ‘married couple’ under her information and became lost in thought: “…”
Xaviera continued, “I know many people think we’re master and disciple, but we really don’t know each other. I just admire him, so I wanted to ask if he’s coming.”
The organizer’s eyes were filled with confusion. I know you’re not master and disciple, but aren’t you husband and wife?
Taking a deep breath, the organizer said, “I don’t know when Mr. Cold Night will be coming, but you must know.”
Xaviera: “?” Wasn’t my explanation clear enough? I’ve already said that we don’t know each other. Why doesn’t this organizer believe me?
Helplessly, Xaviera returned to the hall and saw Caleb waiting for her by the door. The tall, upright man was wearing a black trench coat that radiated a noble aura, attracting the passionate gazes of countless women.
Seeing her man being eyed by others, Xaviera hurriedly ran over to him, “Caleb!”
Caleb slightly raised the corner of his mouth and looked at the direction from which she came, teasing her, “Mrs. Mamet, did you go to the restroom?”
Xaviera didn’t notice anything wrong and blurted out, “Yes, didn’t I just say that?”
Caleb smirked, “Xaviera, the restrooms are on the left side of the hall, and you went to the right. Even if you realized you were going the wrong way, you would have to pass through the hall to reach the restrooms on the left side. Did you fly over there?”
Xaviera was dumbfounded: “…” She was caught red-handed lying!
Caleb’s light brown eyes were filled with laughter, “I heard Miss Hayin is a very young girl. Today, as the rumors say, she is indeed very young!”
Steve Price wondered, “Where is Miss Hayin? I haven’t seen her.”
As soon as his words fell, Xaviera looked up with shock and disbelief at Caleb, realizing that he had known all along!
Caleb looked down, and their gazes met. Xaviera shivered, knowing she couldn’t hide the truth any longer. She obediently said, “Caleb, I was going to tell you, but I forgot. If it weren’t for Tracy Swift, I wouldn’t even remember that I can paint!”
“I just did these two pieces casually, so I didn’t tell you about them. You can understand, right?”
Caleb carelessly replied, “Mrs. Mamet, your memory isn’t very good! How could you forget about such a thing?”
Xaviera nodded her head like a pecking chicken, all seriousness on her face.
Steve Price secretly commented, “Mrs. Mamet, you should tell the truth. Don’t think you can escape by giving a casual explanation. The last time the CEO asked me if I had forgotten something, I said yes, and he casually replied: ‘If your memory is so poor, what use are you? Go practice on a deserted island first!’”
At that moment, Steve couldn’t help but worry about Mrs. Mamet. How could her delicate body endure training on an isolated island? She would definitely faint!
The next second, Caleb glanced at Steve and then smiled lightly, “Xaviera must have been too busy to remember. I won’t blame you.”
