Chapter 44
Noel’s face darkened slightly at Sylvia’s words, but there was nothing she could do even if she was sorry. She was already leaving work much later than usual, so Sevis was probably anxious. It would look even more strange if she showed up with Noel.
When she entered the stable and pressed the button on the key, Limbo, who was sleeping, stood up with a neigh and looked around.
Noel looked at her anxiously as she patted Limbo kindly, loosened the reins, and pulled it out of the stable.
“This horse… will you be alright?”
“I heard it’s docile. Why, is there a problem?”
“It’s not that… well… It’s nothing.”
Noel cut off his words, and Sylvia tilted her head for a moment before climbing onto the horse. She was worried because she had never ridden a horse before, but according to Noel, if she told it her destination, Limbo, a smart foreign horse, would ride autonomously.
“Since it understands people’s words, it will be much easier to ride around than other horses.”
“Oh, I’m so glad. I never thought the High Priest would give me such a nice horse…”
Autonomous driving. It was a horse with a tremendous feature that she had never even used in her life. Sylvia was so moved that the corners of her mouth rose by themselves. Noel smiled softly at Sylvia’s seemingly happy face.
“I’m also riding a foreign horse, so if you have any questions, please feel free to ask.”
“Alright. I’ll go now.”
As Sylvia was about to leave, Noel suddenly took her hand and kissed it lightly.
“We have a lot to talk about, but you look tired, so we’ll do it tomorrow.”
“Haha… See you tomorrow.”
When Sylvia gave a bright smile and left, Noel, who was smiling while looking at her back, roughly swept his bangs back. Then, he sighed towards the sky and closed his eyes tightly.
“You’ve done it completely right…”
As expected, Limbo showed a great ride comfort as a car… as a horse that wasn’t ordinary, not shaking even though it was running home at lightning speed. As she passed by on the horse, the passers-by whistled and cheered, saying, ‘Wow, what a great horse.’ Horsemen riding donkeys or domestic horses passed by to avoid her, like Moses crossing the Red Sea.
The corners of Sylvia’s mouth rose with joy.
‘This is what riding a foreign horse feels like.’
“Whoa…”
Arriving in front of the house, Sylvia calmed Limbo and got off the horse. As expected, Sevis stood in front of the door with a nervous face and ran to Sylvia when he saw her.
“Miss Sylvia! Why are you so late? Did something happen? What is this horse?”
“Nothing happened. I was asked to do some overtime work… The horse is a horse. Let’s go inside first and talk, Sevis.”
Sylvia, who was about to hang Limbo’s reins on a post, looked troubled for a moment. Then, she brought a towel, carefully wiped Limbo’s hooves, and opened the door to escort it inside the house.
‘I can’t leave a foreign horse in front of the house. Someone could steal it.’
As if it was accustomed to being treated well, Limbo snorted gracefully and came inside with a trot.
Then, it seemed to be looking around the house with a dazed look for a moment. Limbo then collapsed on the floor and let out a lamenting neigh. With a shocked expression, as if wondering if this was the kind of house it was going to live in from now on.
‘It can even make a face like that…’
Sylvia fully understood Limbo’s feelings. She saw it when she went to get Limbo, but the stable at the temple was better than her house, even though it was a horse stable. The floor was covered with luxurious silk, and classical music flowed calmly. She couldn’t see it well because it was night, but there were foreign toys and leftover Evi*n water bottles next to Limbo. Rather, it was more believable to say that this house was a horse stable and that the stable where Limbo was staying was a house for humans.
As Sylvia carefully directed Limbo to the carpet, it lifted its hooves and nervously kicked the carpet.
“Limbo, you don’t want to sit on the floor?”
As the horse nodded its head, Sylvia thought about it for a moment, and then guided Limbo to the bed with a soft duvet. Only then did Limbo lie down on the small bed that was fully occupied with its body, as if it was satisfied. Sevis crossed his arms and looked at Limbo with displeased eyes.
“I mean, it looks like a high-end foreign horse, but what will Miss Sylvia do if you give it your bed?”
“I can’t help it. Limbo doesn’t like the floor… Sevis, do we have carrots?”
“We have, but they’re for the sandwiches…”
Before Sevis could finish speaking, Sylvia hurried to the kitchen. Then, she took a carrot from the refrigerated storage unit and sliced it. After giving Limbo a bite, it chewed it a few times and then spat out the carrot on the floor.
“What’s wrong?”
Sylvia tilted her head and investigated the wrapper that contained the carrots, just in case.
Sylvia, who was looking at the bag with the country of origin and cultivation method kindly written on it, let out an exclamation. On the front of the bag, it was written, ‘Organic! Carrots’, in big letters, with something else written in smaller letters. As she grabbed a magnifying glass and looked closely at it, it was written (it would be good if they were) Organic! Delicious Carrots (sprinkled with pesticides). If this were the real world, it was a phrase that could get you immediately accused by the Consumer Protection Service.
“You don’t like anything that isn’t organic?”
Sylvia looked Limbo in the eye and asked it seriously, and it nodded slowly. Limbo, the foreign horse, was a tricky horse for eating only organic food.
‘I know organic carrots are twice as expensive as normal carrots.’
Sylvia looked at Limbo with a serious expression, and Sevis, standing next to her, looked up and down at Limbo with a displeased expression.
“I mean, that arrogant horse… It’s going to eat whatever it’s given. I can’t believe it spat out the precious food…”
“Sevis, watch your language. Limbo is smart, so it understands everything.”
“And what’s up with the foreign horse in this tiny house?”
Despite Sylvia’s warning, Sevis turned his eyes to Limbo. She hugged Limbo as if she was protecting it from Sevis.
“It’s a precious horse I received as a present from the temple… It’s a great horse that was even offered to His Imperial Majesty!”
When she said that a horse like Limbo was offered to His Imperial Majesty, Sevis was surprised for a moment, and then looked worried again.
“Wow, Sylvia, that’s amazing, but… Seeing how it is behaving, I have an ominous feeling.”
“I also have an ominous feeling… But what should I do? I need to get real organic carrots tomorrow, not these fake ones.”
‘This is a problem. I think I know what Noel was worried about.’
A foreign horse… Although it was nice to ride it, Sylvia, who had only been walking in her present life, overlooked one thing.
The fact that it had a high maintenance cost. Isn’t there something called ‘car poor’? Sylvia began to feel an ominous premonition. She didn’t know how much it would cost to maintain Limbo, but sooner or later, she would be horse poor.
Sylvia patted Limbo gently and sighed. Sevis shook his head and took Sylvia to the kitchen. Until then, Limbo had been sitting on the bed, glaring at Sevis. It seemed to understand what he said about ‘arrogant horse’.
Sevis carefully prepared dinner for her again today. After warming up the soup that had cooled down slightly, Sevis picked up his spoon after she raised hers. He didn’t seem to have eaten until Sylvia came home.
Seeing that, Sylvia was somehow sorry and felt a prick of conscience. In fact, it was not because she was working overtime, but because she was excitedly having s*x. She looked at the top of his black head, with an apologetic heart, and then shook her head.
‘I mean, I was just trying to attack in this game? Though of course, it was in line with my desires… I can still remember it, the sexy and firm chest muscles covered in sweat, the strong and firm… lower part… Ahem…’
Sylvia recalled with a happy expression, then cleared her throat and focused on her meal again. On the tranquil table, Sevis, who was distracted by Limbo, felt a strange smell that he had never smelled before from Sylvia, who was sitting across from him.
“Sniff, sniff… What smell is this? Miss Sylvia, you smell different than usual today.”
“Hm? What do you mean?”
Sylvia felt a cold sweat running down her back. She scrubbed herself harder in case Sevis noticed it with his animal nose, but was Noel’s scent still on her body? It would not be possible, but it was strange.
“It’s weird? Did you wash up outside? It doesn’t smell like the body wash in our house.”
“Ah, ah… I sweated a lot when I was cleaning up. I used the shower in the temple.”
‘Phew… I’m glad he didn’t smell anything strange. Catching the smell of body wash in the middle of a meal, it surely isn’t an ordinary nose.’
Sevis tilted his head and then started eating again. Sylvia looked at Sevis, and after a while, she made a resolute face again.
‘I mean, why am I reading the room now? I need to attack in order to play the game. I have to attack to save this world… and enjoy it, too.’
Because Limbo had spat out the carrot without eating it, Sylvia scoured the fridge after the meal and brought out a variety of foods that it could eat.
‘It should eat one of these…’
