Chapter 35 An Informer
Gu Qiang hadn’t thought about how to let Shen Qianshan know it. It was rash to visit him now.
Gu Qiang was clear that the man in front of her was not the one she knew at the age of fifteen. That one treated Gu Qiang nicely and always helped her when the crunch came.
“I want to know what happened in the 7th year of Jianyuan?” Gu Qiang asked cautiously. It went without saying how important it was, but she was not sure if Shen Qianshan would tell her.
As it turned out, Shen Qianshan sat there, propping his head against his hand and staring into space silently as if he didn’t hear what she said.
Gu Qiang became anxious. If he told her whatever he knew, she might help him survive. But it was up to him, so Gu Qiang was anxious.
After a long silence, Gu Qiang felt it would get light soon. However, Shen Qianshan just turned around slowly, looked at her calmly, and said, “I can’t remember.”
Gu Qiang stood up and said, “Sorry to bother you.”
Then she left.
Looking at her back, Shen Qianshan felt strange. Did something special happen in the 7th year of Jianyuan? He couldn’t remember. Besides, even if something special happened, what was the relationship with Gu Qiang? It was true that she was the Empress, but in his heart, she was just a stupid and evil woman.
Perhaps it was because she was used to scheming in the palace. But she had better not do it in front of Shen Qianshan. He had no time to play with her.
The next morning, Gu Qiang woke up in her warm bed, aching all over. The wound on her head seemed to get better, thanks to the medicine Shen Qianshan applied to her.
Thinking of Shen Qianshan, Gu Qiang had an idea suddenly. If she was sure to lose her memory one day, why wouldn’t she ask him for help?
Firstly, Shen Qianshan was attentive to her these days. Besides, what happened in her life wouldn’t affect him. If she told him, he might be able to return it completely to her.
With such a thought, Gu Qiang itched to have a try.
Standing in the yard, Gu Qiang seemed to be thinking about something. Shen Qianshan could always appear whenever she needed help these days. There must be a reason. Did he send an informer around her?
If she wanted to see Shen Qianshan, she just needed to find the informer, didn’t she?
“Well, I want to see Shen Qianshan, can you help me?” She asked in the yard.
Ting Feng and Chui Xue stuck out their heads out of a small window. Gu Qiang was indeed strange now and talked in the yard in the morning. She had changed a lot, but she became wiser. It was the first time that she had behaved so weirdly.
Chui Xue took a sip of tea and then said to Ting Feng, “Is she talking to us? But we just sit here and do nothing.”
Gu Qiang stood in the yard with her hands entangled together. She felt nervous and embarrassed. In this case, the informer would possibly not emerge. He would hide in a dark place. Even if she needed his help, perhaps he wouldn’t appear.
Finding Gu Qiang wouldn’t give up, Ting Feng was resigned. Then she turned around and told Chui Xue, “She is probably talking to someone else…”
Before Ting Feng was done, a black figure flashed past her eye corners. She was intuitive, or she couldn’t notice it.
Turning around, she saw a man under the big pear tree in the yard. He was in black and standing embarrassedly before Gu Qiang.
She must have seen the man. When her lady was molested by Song Yun, the man appeared with the Ninth Duke. But why did her lady know he would appear here? Or why did he hang around a woman’s room?
It was beyond Gu Qiang’s expectation that the mysterious informer emerged finally. She looked carefully and found he looked familiar. She had seen him for a few times when she was together with Shen Qianshan.
However, now that she needed his help, she shouldn’t care why he was around her.
“Miss Gu, did you say that you wanted to see my master?” Jin Ye lowered his head and asked embarrassedly. He always thought he was good at hiding himself, but unexpectedly, she found him.
“I need to see the Ninth Duke for an emergency. Could you take me to him?” Gu Qiang looked at Jin Ye eagerly.
But Jin Ye was nervous. If he took Gu Qiang rashly to see the Ninth Duke, the duke might be angry. But the duke indeed had a different feeling towards Gu Qiang these days, so perhaps he wouldn’t get angry.
After a short consideration, Jin Ye told Gu Qiang, “Please go with me.”
Gu Qiang didn’t find her clothes wetted by sweat until she reached the Xiaoyao Mountain. Her hair was in wisps because of sweat. She looked like a drowned mouse.
Entering the yard, she saw a person sitting in the nearby pavilion, who was Shen Qianshan, of course. He was still in white. A tea set was put on the stone table before him. A cup was steaming. It was appetitive.
Gu Qiang touched her stomach and felt hungry. But she warned herself that she came here for help, so she needed to behave humbly.
With such a thought, she walked slowly to Shen Qianshan and saluted.
Shen Qianshan placed his cup on the table, looked up at Gu Qiang, and asked, “Miss Gu, what brought you here?”
When this girl came here before, she seemed to be uncomfortable all over and itched to rush out immediately. However, today she came here actively. Did she look at him with new eyes suddenly?
Gu Qiang stood before Shen Qianshan, lowering her head to avoid eye contact with him. It was a good idea to see him, but she didn’t know how to say.
How to say? She knew she would lose her memory sooner or later and hoped he could save it for her?
Anyway, she was standing here and couldn’t think too much.
“Your Highness, it may be a big ask, but I can turn to no one else but you.” Gu Qiang raised her head suddenly and looked at Shen Qianshan earnestly.
Shen Qianshan was stunned. He could tell she was anxious from her eyes. What was so pressing?
Perhaps Shen Qianshan knew it wasn’t so simple as he imagined, so he stopped behaving casually as he used to, looked at Gu Qiang seriously, and said to her, “What do you want to do? If I can help you, I will try my best.”
Gu Qiang glanced at him carefully. Perhaps she wanted to figure out if he was joking. However, he looked so serious and didn’t seem to be joking at all.
At last, she nerved herself to say, “Your Highness, I hope you can save my memory.”
What a weird request! Though it was strange, Shen Qianshan listened to her patiently.
“My family suffers from amnesia. I often lose my memory. But now my family isn’t as good as one can imagine. If I lose my memory one day, everything will be in vain.” Gu Qiang said slowly and unprecedentedly seriously.
Today she did her best. If it didn’t work, she didn’t know what she could do next.
Shen Qianshan kept silent for a long time. The surrounding fragrance of pear blossom relaxed Gu Qiang gradually. It didn’t matter if he refused. It wasn’t what he should consider. It was her responsibility.
Looking at his expressionless face, Gu Qiang rose finally, sighed with relief, and said, “See you.”
As it turned out, she shouldn’t have come here to humiliate herself. It was a joke that she didn’t want to lose anything and hoped he could help her.
She turned around and walked a few steps. Then Shen Qianshan opened his mouth behind her. His voice was light but powerful.
“I agree.” The voice was as light as a feather skimming over her heart. It was lightweight but made her nearly jump up with excitement.
Wonderful! Gu Qiang turned around and even wanted to rush into Shen Qianshan’s arms. However, it would be deviant, so she refrained herself, but her smile was still very beautiful.
Looking at her smile, Shen Qianshan smiled too. It was a piece of cake to help her save her memory.
However, Gu Qiang felt so excited, which made Shen Qianshan feel strange. In his opinion, the girl was capable and pretty, though she wasn’t so competent and confident of everything as he was. But unexpectedly, she asked him for help.
If she turned to him before, he would ridicule her at least. But he said nothing. It moved her deeply, of course. So long as he could help her, it didn’t matter no matter how he ridiculed her.
Shen Qianshan waved and drove away people around him. Now that she came today, she needed to tell him everything.
Gu Qiang came to see him just because she was nervous. But she hadn’t figure out how to say. Besides, she wouldn’t lose her memory soon.
Shen Qianshan was unreliable sometimes, but Gu Qiang chose to trust him most of the time.
