Chapter 8 Punishing the Insolent Servant
“You daughter of a wh*re!”
Chen Yun’s mouth was finally freed, but his eyes and ears were still covered, so he thought he was still in the medicine shop. Annoyed, Chen Yun bellowed crudely, “Do you think that you belong to the nobles? My *ss! Let me tell you, Madam is the master of the Gu Family now. How shameless of you to act as a master even though you are not her biological daughter!”
“Pooh! Even the Old Lady has to respect Madam. Who do both of you think you are—”
“Shut up!”
Ye was extremely flustered now. Her face went ashen as she stood up abruptly and berated, “Chen Yun, are you out of your mind? What nonsense are you talking about?!”
Unfortunately, Chen Yun’s ears and eyes were firmly covered. He could not hear a single word that she said, so he continued grumbling. “Damn it, let me go now!”
“Mother, th-there might be some misunderstandings. Chen Yun won’t act like this without any reason…”
Looking at the sullen face of Old Lady Gu, Ye’s heart sank as well. She understood this Old Lady very well. If Old Lady took these words to her heart, the subservient attitude she adopted all these years would be wasted at once!
“Madam, are you implying that servants are allowed to hurl vulgarities at their masters as long as they have a valid reason?”
Gu Qiang was not going to leave Ye any chance to defend herself. Without pausing, she smiled while looking into Ye’s resentful eyes, and asked perplexedly, “Is this your way of managing a household, Madam?”
“You!”
Ye’s eyes were threatening to rip Gu Qiang apart. However, she managed to retain her rationality and kneeled before Old Lady Gu immediately. “Mother, it’s my fault to be lenient in managing the household and elect this uncivilized person. Please don’t be angry.”
Gu Qiang was quite impressed by Ye’s adaptability in such circumstances.
Even after being the Madam of Gu Family for years, Ye was willing to kneel in front of everyone.
Looking at her subservient gesture, Old Lady Gu was slightly mollified, and her anger was slightly appeased. “You shouldn’t be kneeling as a Madam. Stand up now!”
“I dare not. It’s all my fault.”
Tears welled up in Ye’s eyes and her face was pale. “I failed to distinguish the right people by choosing this heartless and ungrateful trash!”
“True.”
Gu Qiang would not allow Ye to mediate this dispute so successfully. Before Ye continued her explanation, she interrupted with a faint smile, “Madam, Chen Yun has been following you for so many years. Why didn’t he adopt your manners but speak crudely instead?”
Old Lady Gu’s pulled a long face once again. Subconsciously, she shifted her gaze to Chen Yun. However, Chen Yun was still unaware of the current situation and was relentlessly spurting vulgar words. Out of rage, she grabbed a cup and hurled at him mercilessly.
“Drag this servant out and beat him to death!”
Crash!
The cup shattered beside Ye’s feet. However, Old Lady Gu’s fury was not assuaged. She shot daggers at Ye and mocked, “I knew you are an uncultured woman!”
Blood drained from Ye’s face. She tried to voice up, but gave up eventually. Of course, Old Lady Gu would not allow her to get up. She just gave a cold snort and went inside with the support of her maid. On the other hand, Chen Yun was dragged away by the servants. In the chaotic Felicity Hall, Gu Qiang walked forward and stopped in front of Ye. She then looked down at Ye while expressing her concerns, “Are you alright, Madam?”
Upon hearing Gu Qiang’s question, Ye clenched her fists and glared at Gu Qiang viciously.
She underestimated this girl and fell into her trap.
But she would not be knocked down by this defeat. After all, there were many more tricks up her sleeves.
There was plenty of time for a comeback.
With this thought, Ye let out a breath and quickly put on a loving smile on her face. She then replied with insinuations, “Of course, I am fine. But Gu Qiang, you need to take care of your health too.”
Gu Qiang understood Ye’s implied meaning behind the seemingly innocent reply. But she just smiled gently and held Ting Feng’s hand while answering, “I will.”
The next day, in the study of the Ninth Prince’s mansion, An Ye was reporting everything he heard and saw yesterday.
“After that?”
A black-haired man wearing black clothes was sitting in the study. While stroking a footlong jade box on the table with one of his hands subconsciously, he asked indifferently, “Is that butler dead?”
“I’m not sure about this,” An Ye replied reverently. After that, the study fell into a profound silence again. Shen Qianshan did not speak, but he sank into deep thoughts.
Interesting.
A few days had passed since that incident, but the way Gu Qiang looked at him was somehow engraved in his mind.
The compassion and sympathy in her eyes made his heart uneasy, no matter how many times he recalled.
Thinking of that, Shen Qianshan gently opened the fine jade box. A rare silver plant was inside the box. There was still luster on its leaves, suggesting that this plant could still survive without its rootstock.
“Pardon me for my boldness, Master. Are you afraid that this medicine—”
