It was hot and burned in her ear.
Shui Miaomiao could only feel the heat.
She tried to break free, however, she wasn’t even able to struggle a bit. Shui Miaomiao was angry. She decided not to struggle or try to break free anymore. The look in her watery eyes conveyed annoyance, resentment, and that she had a problem with him.
When Shen Mochen looked her in the eyes, his brilliant eyes wavered a little. His heart inexplicably softened. He released his lips from her and lightly wiped her red, swollen lips with his thumbs. Then he asked, “Are you going to rush into things again?”
Shui Miaomiao clenched her teeth. She looked into Shen Mochen’s eyes. To her, they looked as deep and as vast as the universe. They seemed to be another signifier of his accomplishment, knowledge, and experience.
She was no match for him.
Desiring to live well, Shui Miaomiao sighed deeply. She glanced at him weakly and said according to his wishes, “I will not rush into things again.”
Shen Mochen held out his hand to her.
Shui Miaomiao handed over the data in her hands to Shen Mochen, looking into his brilliant, obsidian eyes.
She’d slapped him last time, he’d started targeting her. This time, if she gave him another slap, she wouldn’t be well-off in the future either.
The point was that, if he was always targeting her, she was afraid he would find out the existence of Yanyan.
It would be better for her to avoid trouble because of her present situation.
She would naturally be safe. After all, they would not meet each other again after this.
A great man knew when to yield and when not to yield.
Never mind the fact that she was just a little lady.
The slight trace of a blush appeared on Shui Miaomiao’s face. Her eyes flashed brightly as she glanced at Shen Mochen. She wanted to act cute, however, she felt that it would not be suitable for her to act cute for him.
She gulped. She then tugged at the hair that was falling loose at the side of her face as she guiltily said a line that was famous online these days. “President, please let go of me.”
Shen Mochen looked at her embarrassed and bashful appearance thoughtfully. His look softened. He sat back in the seat beside her. As he examined the data and looked at its contents, he asked, “When have I ever not let you go?”
“Then why are you taking me to dinner?” asked Shui Miaomiao, questioning the feeling she had in her heart.
“Don’t you want to get the sponsor from the Ouxiang Flooring Company? Where do you think it will be easier to get, at the office or the dinner table?” Shen Mochen asked with a deep voice. His calm aura could make anyone take his words to heart.
Shui Miaomiao glanced down and to the left as she pondered what he’d said.
There had been an obvious change in Manager Huang’s attitude towards her.
He was a cold and arrogant man. He had always intentionally ignored her.
However, the enthusiasm he showed her now made her feel as if she had become Manager Huang’s great-aunt overnight.
So… he was helping her.
But the two of them had only met earlier that day. Why was he helping her?
Could it be that…
Shui Miaomiao’s heart throbbed.
Could he really be the man from America she’d met that night? Was it possible that he had recognized her?
Shui Miaomiao began to get nervous. Her hands rubbed together subconsciously as she peered at Shen Mochen. Finally, she asked him, “Why did you help me?”
Shen Mochen squinted at her, his eyes looking a little more intense. A flash of light passed through them. He gave her a smile with unknown meaning and closed the data he was looking at. “What’s the matter? Are you going to repay me for this with your body?”
Heh!
“Nevermind,” Shui Miaomiao answered instantly. She moved a little and scooted away from Shen Mochen as she looked out of the window.
Perhaps it was because she was so physically close to Shen Mochen, but she always felt cramped and suffocated whenever she was around him.
More than eight years had passed since that night in the United States. Even if that person she’d encountered was Shen Mochen, he would have forgotten about it, right?
“Mr. Shen, do you have a good memory?” asked Shui Miaomiao in a tentative manner. She turned around and looked at Shen Mochen with a grin on her face.
