Chapter 50: The Pinnacle of One’s Life, the Classic of Shamelessness
A sarcastic smile tugged at Shui Miaomiao’s lips, and she said, “Sorry, I’m not free on Sunday.”
“Shui Miaomiao, believe it or not, I’ll just set your mom’s land on fire. And, believe it or not, I’ll destroy your mother’s grave,” Zuo Yingying yelled.
Shui Miaomiao’s feigned smile faded.
That was utterly intolerable.
She stared at Zuo Yingying coldly and taunted, “Aunt Zuo, you are such a living classic, you are always pushing back your limits, and have reached a new height of shamelessness. Aren’t you worried that my mom’s gonna invite you to the underworld for a cup of tea?”
The look in Zuo Yingying’s eyes grew even more dismal, “I could also stop taking care of your father. I don’t suppose you can afford the expensive medical costs, do you?”
A quiet gleam flashed across her placid eyes as she said calmly, “I’m free on Saturday night.”
“Don’t play games, you can’t afford them,” said Zuo Yingying. She then walked away in her crazily tall high heels, got into her Mercedes-Benz, and drove away.
Shui Miaomiao’s eyes followed the car as it drove away, her eyes squinted, hiding the coldness in her eyes.
Couldn’t afford to play the game, huh? Fine, game on then.
Shui Miaomiao turned around and saw Shen Mochen standing behind her. He followed her gaze and looked in the direction Zuo Yingying disappeared.
Startled, Shui Miaomiao jumped backward like a frightened little bird and asked, “Why the hell are you here?”
Shen Mochen pulled back his gaze and stared down at Shui Miaomiao. He simply replied, “I drove here and got here just a little after that woman.”
Shui Miaomiao shot a glance at the passageway beside the main gate and saw a blue Maserati. She frowned, “You changed your car again?”
“It belongs to the company. It is pleasing to the eye, so I changed my car,” Shen Mochen smiled and said.
Shui Miaomiao, “…”
She was speechless.
That was why she did not see him coming.
She was fretting about 3,000 Yuan while he had already switched from cars to cars, each cost about 10,000,000 Yuan.
“President, you are–” Shui Miaomaio trailed off, not finishing the thought she had, and instead smilingly said, “You have a face that all cars love.”
“Didn’t you say I am not your type?” Shen Mochen asked.
“Because I am not a car,” Shui Miaomiao answered curtly.
“Why am I not your type?” Shen Mochen looked at her with his dark, wise eyes and asked.
“I have a husband,” Shui Miaomiao blurted out. She walked around him and went upstairs.
“There’s one thing I don’t understand.” Shen Mochen said.
Shui Miaomiao turned around, looked at Shen Mochen, and said in a bright tone, “If you wanna know about trivial stuff, go to Mother Baidu. For relationships, go to Tianya. For gossips, go to an internet forum. The netizens have all the answers to every question you can think of. I won’t waste my brain cells on someone irrelevant.”
“You said you have a husband? Why would your mother set up a blind date for you?” Shen Mochen asked anyway.
Shui Miaomiao paused; she did not know how much of the conversation he had listened in. Maybe, all of it.
She had a feeling of being slapped in the face for trying to act smart.
Shui Miaomiao cleared her throat and said nonchalantly, “It would be ungracious not to accept the invitation. It is just a formality.”
Shen Mochen smiled, glanced at the staircase behind Shui Miaomiao, and said, “Your husband won’t get mad about it? Now I’m interested in meeting him and asking how he feels about it.”
He said as he walked up the stairs.
Shui Miaomiao’s eyebrows furrowed.
If he saw Yanyan, it would be a disaster.
Shui Miaomiao reacted immediately, “He would not wanna see you.”
“You are not him, how would you know he wouldn’t wanna see me?” Shen Mochen continued walking up the stairs.
