Start of volume 2
They did not see each other again until after the summer vacation.
They kept in touch every day as before, but the conversation was always the same.
Daiki tried not to make time for club activities, visiting his father, or having Togo-san over.
As for Wakaba, the swelling in her foot had gone down, but at least she had to be seen at the hospital, but it was only a minor sprain.
Taking it seriously, she took a break from club activities and stayed home to relax.
Since she was free, her friends from the club and her female friends came to visit her.
It was a fun summer vacation, the last one.
However, it was not enough for Wakaba.
She had not been able to play with Daiki.
Until now, Daiki had always been with her during the summer vacation because they had no club activities.
But this year, she had club activities and Daiki had family matters to attend to, so she hardly had any time to play with him.
Even at the summer festival, she could hardly spend time with Daiki.
Wakaba was feeling inadequate, but at the same time she also felt an inexpressible sense of unease.
Since the day she had that dream, she began to think that Daiki might leave her.
“Are you going to leave your sister….”
If that was the case, it couldn’t be helped but the loneliness remained the same.
She was trying to make an assumption.
Still for Wakaba, she didn’t think it was a feeling of love.
Wakaba, just like Daiki, has a lot of assumptions.
Ever since she decided to protect Daiki, Wakaba had been thinking too much about watching over him like a little brother, and she had assumed that she was like an older sister, so she was unaware of her own feelings.
Daiki is too attached to the normal and is afraid of change.
He was traumatized by the disruption of the normal.
Because of this, he suppresses his feelings so much that he never tells Wakaba honestly how he felt.
He did not make Wakaba aware of his feelings.
Both of them are the same to each other.
But, strangely enough, once they have crossed paths, their paths have continued to diverge.
The summer vacation was over and school started.
In the morning, Wakaba picked up Daiki as usual and walked him to school.
It was the same as usual, the usual way to school.
They arrived at the school as usual and went inside their own classrooms.
After the opening ceremony, there were no classes and school was over for the day.
After that, they ate lunch, did club activities, and went home together again.
Nothing had changed.
Wakaba was relieved.
She could see Daiki as usual and spend time with him as usual, but since that day, Daiki had been thinking about gradually keeping his distance from her without getting in her way or making her dislike him.
So, he wanted to keep the distance so that he could be a childhood friend without being in the way and without being disliked, and he wanted it to be the same as it is now.
Wakaba did not realize at this time.
That things will change little by little…
Daiki is also afraid of change and has yet to realize that he is trying to change the current relationship…
