- Chapter 37 - Crossing Paths, Traumatized, and Yet… Chapter 37
It was the first Golden Week after entering high school.
So far, Daiki’s high school life was going well.
Because Daiki is cheerful and easy to get along with, he got along well with his classmates and made more friends.
He became friends with girls as well.
He talked especially well with Shion Aizawa.
Shion was a lovely girl.
She appeared to be calm, but in fact she was firm and could do anything.
She was also good at adjusting to her surroundings and was popular with both men and women.
Golden Week while talking to Shion.
They talked about what to do, and Daiki said
“I’m planning to go out with Dad in the first half of the year”
“I think I’m going to go hang out with my dad the first half of the day, and then with some local friends the second half!”
And Shion said
“Daiki, you’re so close with your father!”
She said with a smile.
When asked about Shion’s plans as well, she said she was going to her grandparents’ house with her family, so Daiki wondered if Shion’s family was close to her.
Since Shion is cute and popular, her other friends joined in the conversation.
The conversation became lively and it was decided that they would all go out together after Golden Week because some people’s schedules did not match during Golden Week.
He and his father had decided to divide up the responsibilities of their lives, and the two of them were able to live well together.
He was just beginning to get used to living with his mother and Tsukasa-san on the weekends.
On weekends, he was busy meeting with Wakaba and his friends.
Since Daiki decided not to participate in club activities at high school, he decided to spend the first half of Golden Week with his father as planned, and the second half at home, spending time with his mother and Tsukasa, and playing with local friends.
Golden Week began, and he went camping with his father.
He set up a tent, made a bed, and prepared tabler and other things.
From there, he prepared a barbecue and started cooking with the ingredients he had bought.
His father was a good cook and very efficient.
Since Daiki had come to live with his father, he had started helping him with the cooking, and he had improved a lot.
Since it was the first day, he cooked cut vegetables and meat on the grill, and was in a good mood drinking beer, but he was probably tired from moving around and preparing for the barbecue.
On the second day, after a light breakfast, they headed to a nearby fishing pond.
After catching a few fish, they decided to grill them and eat them.
It was delicious to eat the fish they caught.
At night, the two of them made curry and served it over rice that they cooked in a rice container.
It was also very tasty.
After dinner, when the two of them were talking, the father asked,
“Is there a girl you like?”
He asked him.
Flustered, he couldn’t answer.
“Do you perhaps like Waka-chan.”
He said.
“You guessed it.”
He looked at Daiki with a meaningful smile on his face, although he impatiently said he was not.
After that, Daiki became slurred all the time and could not understand what he was saying.
They talked like that until bedtime, and at the end he said
“Don’t regret it…”
He told me with a forlorn look on his face.
His father may still regret it.
Thinking about his deceased girlfriend and his mother… and such things…
“I wonder if I will regret it too…”
Thinking about this, he went to sleep.
On the last day, he went sightseeing on the way home, and the three days of fun with his father came to an end.
During the second half of Golden Week, he went home and spent one day with his mother and Tsukasa, and the rest of the day playing with friends.
Wakaba joined the tennis club at her high school, and although she was only able to spend one day playing with her friends because of club activities, everyone, including Wakaba, decided to go to a theme park together.
Wakaba’s favorite character was there.
She called him the day before.
She was so excited that she was looking forward to tomorrow.
He thought it was going to be just the two of them in the morning.
Apparently Shiraishi is coming to pick her up.
“Shall we go to the station together?”
He was told, but he refrained.
“Why?”
She said.
He told her he had to run an errand and that he would be there afterwards.
He had no errands to run, but he didn’t want to go with them.
He remembered his father’s words, but he was stubborn because he had decided to support them.
