Chapter 39: Being avoided?
Wakaba was looking forward to going to the theme park.
The reason was that there were some of her favorite characters and she would be able to go out with Daiki for the first time in a long time.
The day before, she had called Daiki to express her excitement.
In the morning, Ren was picking her up from the station, so the two of them couldn’t go alone, but when she asked Daiki to go with her as usual, he refused, saying he had to finish his errands before he could go.
Whenever Daiki and others hung out with her, she always went with him, so she thought she could go with him as a matter of course.
But for the first time, he refused.
Wakaba was shocked, but she decided that if it was for an errand, she had no choice.
“I’m going to have a lot of fun with Daiki at the theme park!”
and went to bed.
The next day, as she was getting ready and waiting, she received a message from Ren and walked out to her house.
The two of them walked to the station together, talking about what they were going to ride at the theme park.
When they arrived at the station, some of their friends had not arrived yet, but most of them had.
As Daiki had not arrived yet, she wanted to call him, but she thought he might be on an extended errand, so she decided to wait for him.
Daiki arrived just in time for the meeting, so we all hurried to get on the train.
Relieved that he made it to the train in time, she tried to talk to him, but he was talking with his other friends and ended up talking briefly to her.
While bewildered, Ren spoke to her and asked her about the characters at the theme park.
From there, we continued to talk passionately about our love for the characters.
From there, she continued to speak passionately about her love for the character.
Before anyone knew it, they arrived at the station at the theme park and everyone was in the park.
It was the middle of Golden Week, so the place was packed with people.
“Let’s have a lot of fun!”
and everyone was excited and enthusiastic.
In the beginning, everybody was together, but after being sent to buy drinks with Ren, she got a call from them.
They wanted them to go ahead of them to the rides.
When they came to the vicinity of the rides, their friends were not there.
When she contacted them, they said they had gone the other way, but Wakaba was also a high school student, so she could understand this much about quicksand.
The two of them were going to be spending a lot of time together, and she was gradually becoming aware of the fact that they were always trying to get her to stay close to him.
“Today, too!”
She wanted to get angry at Ren, but it wasn’t his fault.
“I haven’t been able to talk or play with Daiki at all…”
She decided to give up for now, thinking that she and Daiki would go on a ride together later.
“We’ve come all this way, so let’s have fun!”
Ren also said so, so they decided to enjoy the attractions until they could meet up with the others, but it wasn’t much fun.
After that, despite calling everyone and walking so that they could meet up with the others, they could not meet up with anyone at all.
It was getting late in the evening and she was getting frustrated.
She called her friends and said to them
“Enough already!
I want to have fun with everyone!”
She told them.
Then she said
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry!”
She apologized lightly.
When she asked what area they were in, they were on the other side of the area.
It was already late in the evening and the crowd was so large that it would be too late to meet up with them, so Ren and Wakaba hurriedly started walking to the opposite area.
They were walking to avoid the crowds, but it started to get dark and she got a little separated from Ren.
He was able to find her by making contact with her right away.
“It would be very difficult if we get separated again, so why don’t we go holding hands?”
He said to her.
“It’s fine, don’t worry about it!
I’ll follow you!”
And as soon as they started walking, they almost lost each other again in the crowd.
“I’ll hold your hand until we get through the crowd.”
He took her hand and ended up holding hands.
Unable to say no, they walked through the crowd and immediately let go of each other’s hands.
Ren’s ears were bright red, but Wakaba’s were complicated.
After that, Ren spoke awkwardly and shyly.
When they reached the other side of the area, they called their friends.
They were also walking to the other side of the area, so it seemed that they had passed each other.
Once again, everyone was walking back towards the area, but this time with fewer people, so there was no need to hold hands.
Finally, everybody was together.
“Hey!
Now I’m going to run out of time to play with you guys!”
She complained to her friend.
“Sorry, sorry!
But you had fun, didn’t you? Haha!”
She said and laughed.
Wakaba looked around and noticed that Daiki was not here.
“Huh, did Daiki get separated too?”
She asked.
“Daiki got sick and went home first.
He looked pale.”
She was said.
She also said that one of his friends went home with him because he was worried about him.
Wakaba was so worried that she called him immediately, but the phone was disconnected.
She also sent him a message right away.
She was no longer in the mood to have fun.
From a friend who went home with Daiki.
“I just got on the train, but Daiki doesn’t look well, so I’m taking him home.”
The message seems to have gotten through.
“I apologize if you didn’t enjoy the park until the end.”
Is what Daiki said.
So everyone decided to play until the park closed.
Wakaba was worried and didn’t seem to be able to enjoy it, but to everyone else.
“Do you want to stay until the park closes because you might make Daiki feel uncomfortable if he hears that you left right after that?”
She said.
Another message came in from a friend.
“Daiki is very concerned about you.
He’s always saying how sorry he is, so please enjoy the park until it closes!”
Was said.
Since it was decided to stay until the park closed, Wakaba tried to act as cheerful as possible so as not to make everyone feel uncomfortable.
Wakaba sent a message to Daiki again, but he didn’t reply.
After a little while, she received a message from his friend
“Don’t worry, I sent him home safe and sound!”
She was relieved that she had received his message, but she was not in the mood to enjoy the park and managed to stay there until it closed.
On the train ride home, everyone was so tired from playing that they almost fell asleep, but Wakaba was not sleepy.
“I didn’t get to talk to Daiki again today…
I couldn’t even ride the rides with him…
We could have gone out together…
I wonder if he is feeling all right…”
She was feeling down by herself.
“I don’t know why I’m always like this…
I feel like I’m being avoided when I go out with everyone…”
She thought to herself.
Arriving at the nearest station, everyone dispersed.
Ren offered to give her a walk, but this time, as expected, she declined.
Perhaps she also had her own feelings about it, but this time she decided to go home without being dropped off.
As Wakaba walked home alone, she said to herself
” Is Daiki avoiding me after all…?”
She thought to herself as she walked home alone.
When she arrived at her house, she looked towards Daiki’s house.
The light in Daiki’s room was off.
“Daiki, I wonder if you are feeling alright…?
Are you really avoiding me after all…?”
She looked at Daiki’s room and grieved.
