Chapter 47: Crossing paths that widen

After Wakaba and Shiraishi decided to go home, Daiki was walking alone separately.

“I wonder if Shiraishi confessed his feelings…”

He thought.

“I don’t know what Wakaba’s answer was, but he said he would take her home, so I guess it went well.”

Daiki was mistaken at this time.

He thought that Shiraishi had confessed his feelings to her during the fireworks, and that they had laughed with his friends because it had gone so well.

“I’m going back to my father’s place tomorrow.”

He was still going to be home for a few more days, but he decided to leave right away.

He hurriedly packed his belongings and prepared to go back.

The time he spent preparing was time he didn’t have to think about.

After finishing the preparations, he went to tell his mother and Tsukasa-san.

She told him that she wished he was still here, but he convinced her that he still had a lot of studying to do.

Wakaba contacted him that day, but he only gave a brief reply and that was the end of it.

The next day, Daiki got ready in the morning and hurried back to his father.

Without contacting Wakaba.

Without telling her anything.

Daiki did not want to think about anything else after returning to his father’s place.

Especially, he did not want to think about Wakaba and Shiraishi.

Until the summer vacation was over, he forced himself to make plans to study and play with his high school friends.

The test was coming up soon after the summer break, so everyone gathered in the morning for a study session with their high school friends to study for the test.

Shion and the other girls got together and headed for the library.

Daiki was also concentrating on his studies for quite some time and decided to take a break, so he sat down and stretched out.

You didn’t even notice that I was sitting next to you.”

She whispered to him,

“When did you sit down, Shion?”

Daiki asked.

“About 10 minutes ago, I was tired and wanted to ask you to take a break with me, but you were studying with a serious face, so I decided to sit next to you and wait until you noticed me”

She informed him.

“Ten minutes ago?

I didn’t notice at all.

Then let’s take a break now!”

He went to the vending machine and bought two bottles of juice, one of which he gave to Shion.

Shion was about to take out the money, but he said

“This is for making you wait.

He said.

“Thank you, Daiki.”

While taking a break, they talked about their summer vacation.

After talking with Shion, it was quite some time before he returned to his studies.

On that day, everyone studied until lunchtime and then went to a family restaurant for dinner before going home.

All the boys were envious of him, but Daiki could not help it and put up with it.

Shion was sitting next to Daiki and laughing a lot.

She looked very happy.

The day ended with the split.

On the way home, Shion and Daiki were together until the halfway point, so they talked about the test and went back home.

Since the next day of the summer festival, he had been returning Wakaba’s calls only at night and exchanged only one or two messages with her.

He just knew that he mustn’t interfere with her.

He knew this, so he tried to avoid Wakaba.

Then he received a message from Chika Sasaki.

“Shiraishi-kun and Wakaba seem to be getting along well, so don’t get in their way!”

Daiki thought so.

As long as he held back, he could make Wakaba happy by suppressing his feelings.

He really thought that his relationship with Wakaba would remain the same as before as a childhood friend.
