- Chapter 50 - Crossing Paths, Traumatized, and Yet… Chapter 50
Wakaba has been unable to sleep after Ren’s confession.
She had often received confessions in the past.
However, her confession was not as straightforward as before.
It’s not that she doesn’t like him, but she likes him as a friend.
Ren is interesting and easy to talk to.
His face is good-looking and he has a good personality.
He can study and do sports.
His friends love him.
He is perfect.
It makes her happy to be liked by such a person.
However, at the moment, she can’t think of going out with him.
The distance between them was good because they were friends.
If she were to go out with him, the distance will be different.
When she listens to her friends who have boyfriends, they are always talking about their love affairs.
Some of them even kissed and went on to do so.
Yet, she couldn’t imagine doing something like that with Ren.
She spent the whole night thinking about it, but she couldn’t figure it out.
“What would happen with Daiki…?”
Wakaba tried to imagine, but quit.
Suddenly, she felt embarrassed.
She did not know why.
She assumed that she did not know.
It was around the time when it was getting light when she finally fell asleep.
Since it was a cultural festival holiday, she slept until around noon, but when she woke up, she was still thinking about it.
After washing her face and checking her cell phone, she found a message from everyone.
They seemed to be concerned about what happened yesterday.
She told them that nothing had happened, but they didn’t believe her.
From Ren, he said.
“It’s okay if it’s late, so please take your time and think about it.”
The message said.
There was no message from Daiki.
Wakaba was depressed.
She had told him that she was going to play the heroine at the festival, so she had thought she would at least get a message from him.
She was not able to do anything because of the situation with Ren, so she spent the rest of the day just thinking about it.
Wakaba was still troubled by the fact that she had to go to school the next day.
She was still worried about Daiki, but now it was about Ren.
She did not know what to do.
She was still talking to him as usual, and he was trying not to change anything, but she was not sure what she should say to him.
Thinking that she didn’t know what to tell him, she decided to ask Chika for advice.
Wakaba told Chika that she needed to talk to her about yesterday’s situation, and they agreed to meet at their usual café after school.
She went to the café immediately after the club activities were over. Chika was already there, so she went to her seat, greeted her lightly, and sat down.
“I’m sorry, Chika.”
I don’t know what to do.”
She immediately consulted with her.
“First, let’s settle down.”
After ordering, they decided to talk.
As usual, she ordered a cake and latte set, and after taking a breath, Chika said to her,
“Shiraishi-kun confessed his feelings for you, didn’t he?”
She said
“..confession…”
“Did you give him a reply?”
“…I was going to do it right away, but he said he wanted me to think about it.”
Wakaba answered quietly.
“Is there someone else you’re interested in?
Or do you not like Shiraishi-kun?”
Chihana asked.
When she said someone she was interested in, Daiki came to mind, but after telling herself that was not the case, she replied
“I don’t think there is anyone I care about.
I don’t dislike Ren-kun either, but it’s not like I’m in love with him, but just as a friend…”
She answered.
“I see, so friends for now.
So you’re going to say no?”
Chika asked.
“I was going to say no right away when he confessed his feelings for me, but he said he wanted me to think it over before I said no… so I thought about it, but Ren is my closest male friend, and if I said no, I don’t think I could be with everyone like I have been with you guys. …”
Wakaba looked down and answered.
“Why don’t you go out with him?”
Chika said.
“I don’t think it’s polite to go out with someone you can only consider a friend…”
Wakaba replied.
“Why don’t we go out on a trial basis first?”
Chihana suggested going out with him.
While looking at Wakaba, who was still troubled by the suggestion, Chihana said,
“How about giving yourself some time to think about it until next year, and if you feel the same way as you do now, you can say no, and if you feel more willing to go out with him than you do now, you can go out with him, even on a trial basis?”
Wakaba was troubled, but she knew she had to make things clear.
But she couldn’t make a decision right away because it would be too awkward and would probably damage her relationship with everyone else.
So she thought she needed time to think about it.
After that, they discussed what they were going to do.
Finally, she thanked Chika and parted ways.
Wakaba had regained some of her composure after arriving home and discussing the matter with him.
First, she organized her thoughts in her mind, and then contacted Ren to tell him what she was thinking.
When she sent a message to tell him what she was thinking, he seemed to agree with her and agreed to wait until she gave him an answer.
Wakaba was not at all relieved, but she had decided to think about it carefully before giving her answer.
