- Chapter 51 - Crossing Paths, Traumatized, and Yet… Chapter 51
Daiki was preparing for his own school festival when Wakaba’s school was holding theirs.
He was putting the final touches on signboards and menus.
Shion was also helping him.
“Daiki, how about something like this?”
Shion showed him the completed menu.
Daiki said
“It’s very good.
Shion has good taste!”
Her face turned bright red and she said thank you.
At last the work settled down and Daiki took a break by himself, but he still couldn’t help thinking.
“I wonder if the play has started by now?”
But he shook his head and tried not to think about it, and immersed himself in his work again, looking for a job he could do.
By working until late in the evening, he had a rough idea of what he needed to do.
Daiki was also helped by Shion, so he thanked her and decided to call it a day.
His friends also said they were tired and wanted to go home, so he decided to go home with them.
Walking around talking about the festival with everyone.
“Do the kids from the other high schools come to the cultural festival?”
One of his friends said.
“Of course they’re coming.
I hope some cute girls will come.”
Another friend replied.
While talking like that, Daiki wondered.
“Will Wakaba come too?”
Daiki wondered.
He was half hoping that she would come and half hoping that she wouldn’t.
“No doubt Shiraishi will be there too….
If possible, I don’t want to see them…”
With this thought in mind, he left.
After he got home, he received a message from Sasaki.
“After the festival, Shiraishi confessed his feelings to Wakaba.
That’s why Daiki should support them so that they can make it work!”
It said.
Daiki thought
“You have confessed, I see.”
He thought that everything he’d ever thought was a misunderstanding, but this time he really did confess, and he didn’t know what to say back to her…
“Understood!”
was the only reply.
Until the day of the festival, he had no contact with Wakaba for the first time.
It was because he was busy, but also because he hadn’t heard from her.
Despite feeling worried, he didn’t know how to contact her since Sasaki had asked him to support them.
Other friends called to say that they were all going to Daiki’s school festival.
He was not sure if Wakaba was among them, but he was sure that she would be there.
Wakaba was unable to contact Daiki.
She had not heard from Daiki, but she did not know what to do to contact him because of the fact that Ren had confessed to her.
She had decided to tell only Chika that Ren had confessed to her, so Daiki should not have known either, but remembering the time she had talked to Chika about it, she was somewhat reluctant to contact him.
Wakaba finally calmed down and lay down on her bed.
“I should tell Daiki after all,”
But she did not know what to tell him.
It was not how she should tell him, but how she did not want to tell him.
She did not want Daiki to know that Ren had confessed to her.
In the end, she could not tell Daiki.
Everyone was planning to go to the festival at his school, but she couldn’t contact him until that day.
On the day of the festival, everyone headed to Daiki’s school.
He was going to pick her up as usual, so she invited Chika to join them and the three of them headed to the meeting place.
After meeting up with everyone, they didn’t tell anyone except Chika that he had confessed to her, but as usual, Wakaba and Ren were made to sit next to each other, so it didn’t make much difference.
When they arrived at Daiki’s school, Wakaba came nervous for some reason.
Since everyone wanted to find Daiki’s classroom but did not know where it was, they decided to enjoy the cultural festival together first.
Having a festival by themselves was fun, but coming to a festival for fun was a different kind of fun.
Different schools have different contents.
Daiki’s school was one of the top schools, so there were many presentations of research and so on.
There were also many booths, which were different from those at Wakaba’s school.
As everyone was going around the school, before they knew it, everyone was going their separate ways.
The three of them finally arrived at Daiki’s classroom as they went around the school.
Daiki’s class was serving takoyaki.
Wakaba was nervous.
It had been a long time since she had seen Daiki, and she had not been in touch with him.
Chika walked into the classroom without worrying about Wakaba.
Seeing this, Ren also called out to Wakaba and went into the classroom with her.
After entering the classroom, the girls from Daiki’s class showed us around in their cute outfits.
It seemed a mismatch with the takoyaki, but it was no less cute, so she decided not to care.
Wakaba looked for Daiki, but he was not where she could see him.
She wondered if he was the one making the takoyaki, and tried to see him from the seat behind the partition, but she couldn’t see much.
She decided to order takoyaki and a drink first.
There was a wide variety of takoyaki, and some of them were really delicious.
The three of them decided not to be adventurous and ordered the usual takoyaki and a drink.
They were satisfied with the takoyaki, but Daiki was nowhere to be found.
They waited for a while after finishing their meal, but could not find him.
Wakaba and the three of them decided to go to other places and then contact Daiki, so they decided to move on.
Among the girls in the class was Shion.
The three high school-aged boys and girls who were there seemed to be looking for someone, and since they were friends of someone who was currently on break, somehow it seemed that they might be friends of Daiki’s.
One of the girls was curious about them, but she did not call out to them.
Shion was also just in time to take a break in exchange for Daiki, so she called him on his break.
After Wakaba and the others went out of Daiki’s classroom into the hallway, they saw Daiki walking down the hallway while talking happily with a cute girl.
Chika spotted Daiki and was about to go talk to him.
Ren, too, was about to head to Daiki’s place with her, but noticed that Wakaba was frozen.
“What’s wrong Wakaba?”
Ren asked, and Wakaba was startled.
She felt like running away right now.
She had never seen Daiki talking so happily with a girl.
It was not a bad thing, but for some reason she did not want to see it.
However, she also wanted to talk to Daiki.
But she can’t look at Daiki’s face.
She didn’t want to hear Daiki’s happy voice.
“Are you alright? Wakaba?”
Ren asked her and she nodded silently.
Suddenly, Ren pulled Wakaba’s arm and went to Daiki’s place.
Wakaba couldn’t shake his hand because of the suddenness of the situation.
When Daiki and the girls were separated in front of the classroom, Chika, who had gone ahead of them, asked Daiki,
“Daiki, where have you been? I looked for you.”
She asked him.
“I was just taking a break.
Where is everybody?”
Chika and Daiki were talking.
“We got separated from everyone in the middle of the day.”
Ren joined the conversation.
“Is that so”
Daiki answered, but then he immediately said
“I’m sorry, it’s time for me to go.
Have fun!”
He went into the classroom without talking to Wakaba.
