Chapter 37: Chapter 37 – The Intuition of a Silly Teenager
His eyes turned gloomy.
“She’s messing around as usual!”
Ouyang Jin turned around and left with a look of disgust on his face.
On the other hand, Lin Rui also got inside Li Tao’s black Ferrari.
Li Tao purposely drove his sports car at a snail’s pace, worried that he would arouse Lin Rui’s negative emotions because of the psychological trauma.
Lin Rui was speechless. “Li Tao, can you go faster? Didn’t you see that the old man riding the electric bike has already overtaken you even though you’re in a sports car? Or do you not know how to drive? Let me take over then.”
Li Tao grimaced angrily.
‘I’m doing this for her!’
Next, Li Tao sped off quickly as if to show his anger.
Initially, Li Tao was playfully intending to see Lin Rui getting scared so that he would have something to say to tease her.
In the end, she was exceptionally composed.
When they arrived at the destination, Lin Rui alighted from the car and walked at a steadier pace than him.
Li Tao was rather indignant at first.
However, he soon realized that Lin Rui was not traumatized by the previous accident.
For some reason, he was miraculously relieved.
Lin Rui did not know how many scenes the dramatic teenager Li Tao was imagining in his head, but she had already reached the guardrail on the hilltop road.
It had been several months since the accident happened, and the damaged guardrail had also been repaired.
She squatted down and looked at the charred patch of grass.
Lin Rui asked Qi Bao, “Qi Bao, try sensing if there is any unusual aura in the surroundings.”
“Master, the aura here is rather complicated. Other than the breath of humans, there are also smells of animals, but I haven’t found any traces of spiritual power for the time being,” Qi Bao said in a childlike voice.
In this world, there were alchemical families and ancient martial families. Hence, Lin Rui’s first reaction was to wonder if they had intervened.
If they did, things would be tricky.
However, she trusted Qi Bao very much.
Since Qi Bao said that there were no traces of spiritual power, the matter definitely had nothing to do with the alchemy families.
With both hands in his pockets, Li Tao saw Lin Rui squatting down and looking at the bottomless ditch silently.
Li Tao was a little worried about her.
However, he refused to stop teasing her, “Hey, Lin Rui, are you thinking of jumping down because you can’t get over it?”
“Why would I?”
“Well, because of what’s going on at home. Oh right, I forgot that you care about your stepmother,” Li Tao said with a humph.
Clearly, he disliked Xu Man.
Sometimes, the intuition of a silly teenager was scarily accurate.
After all, almost everyone in the upper-class circle of Jin City thought that Xu Man was an excellent wife.
She was gentle, mild-mannered, demure, virtuous, and even doted on her stepdaughter.
Lin Rui smiled, and just as she was about to say something, she heard Qi Bao’s voice in the depths of her mind.
“Master, Master, I found two familiar auras here! One belongs to the butler Uncle Zhong, and the other belongs to Xu Man!”
Lin Rui’s pupils constricted.
Uncle Zhong?
Xu Man?
‘Does the accident have something to do with the two of them?’
‘Or were they there when Lin Rui got into an accident?’
Lin Rui frowned and started pondering about it.
It was already past seven in the evening, and there was nothing else to see in this place.
Lin Rui stood up and said to Li Tao, “Let’s go.”
“You’re leaving just like that?”
Extremely speechless, Lin Rui asked rhetorically, “Do you plan to spend the night here then?”
Li Tao teased, “Sure, why don’t you spend the night with me here?”
Li Tao’s ears turned a little hot when he said that.
Fortunately, it was nighttime, and the street lamps were dim, so no one could see the redness of his ears.
