Chapter 32: Can You Take Me Home?

Ye Anxin suddenly snapped back to reality. Squatting down to the level of the little boy, she caressed his head and asked with a smile, “Little brother, you just said you were lost?”

The little boy smiled even more sweetly. “Yes! Big sister, can you take me home?”

When the little boy smiled like that, Ye Anxin’s heart suddenly softened and melted. “What is your name? Do you know where you live? Or do you know the phone numbers of your parents?”

The little boy cocked his head and said innocently, “My name is Huo Jiantian. I am five years old this year, and my father works for the Huotian Corporation.”

Ye Anxin took out her phone and glanced at the time, then she touched his little head and said with a smile, “Tiantian, it’s time for me to go to school. How about I call a taxi for you to take you to the Huotian Corporation? When you arrive at the Huotian Corporation, you should know how to find your father, right?”

Huo Jiantian sighed dramatically, as he purposely exaggerated his helplessness. “Ugh…! Forget it. We’ve just met, and you have no obligation to take me to find my father. I’ll take care of myself. Although there are many scammers now and bad guys abducting and trafficking children, I definitely won’t be abducted by them because I’m so smart. Sister, go to school. I will go to find my father by myself.” He turned around and prepared to leave.

Upon seeing that he was leaving, Ye Anxin hurriedly shouted after him, “Hey…!”

Huo Jiantian waved to Ye Anxin without looking back. “Big sister, don’t worry about me. Even if I were really abducted by bad guys, it’s none of your business. I would have to blame my own stupidity. Big sister, go to class now. I’m leaving. Good-bye.”

Upon thinking about this, Ye Anxin rushed forward and grabbed Huo Jiantian’s hand, as she said with a smile, “Tiantian, I will take you to your father. You’re so little that I would definitely worry about you wandering around all alone out here.”

“Really? Thank you, elder sister.” Huo Jiantian raised his head to look at Ye Anxin, and then he narrowed his eyes and smiled.

“Let’s go. I will personally take you to the Huotian Corporation right now.” Ye Anxin nodded and completely missed the smug expression in Huo Jiantian’s doe eyes.

Walking hand in hand with Huo Jiantian, Ye Anxin hailed a taxi near the school gates, and they were soon headed toward the Huotian Corporation.

Ye Anxin didn’t notice that in an inconspicuous spot not far from the school, there was a car parked with Pete sitting in the driver’s seat and Mu Beiting sitting in the back seat.

Pete glanced at Mu Beiting in the rearview mirror. Upon seeing that his expression was gloomy, he said hurriedly, “President, that was President Huo’s son.”

His thin lips pressed into his usual gloomy line, Mu Beiting remained silent.

Pete hesitated for a moment, but he couldn’t help but ask, “President, do you want us to follow them?”

Mu Beiting’s eyes were opaque as he said coldly, “Take me back to work.”

Pete looked in the direction where Ye Anxin had disappeared in a taxi, and he asked hesitantly, “But the Madame…?”

Mu Beiting’s tone became even colder, “Take me back to work!”

“Yes, sir. Okay.” Pete nodded and drove away.

On the other hand, the taxi took Ye Anxin and Huo Jiantian directly to the Huotian Corporation.

After getting out of the taxi, Ye Anxin squatted down and asked the little boy, “Tiantian, what department is your father in? Do you remember your father’s phone number? Why don’t we call your father first? How about we let him come down to pick you up?”

Huo Jiantian shook his head. “No, let’s go in and find him.”
