Chapter 20: Getting Conceited

From afar, Lin Kelan was practically crushing the phone in her hand.

Yesterday, it was a Porsche. Today, a Ferrari.

An Ziqi, that wretched woman.

What right did she have to ride in a car like that!

She refused to believe that An Ziqi had a charmed life.

Wickedness flashed in Lin Kelan’s eyes.

As long as she was around, An Ziqi could forget about getting any ranking in the contest.

An Ziqi pulled open the door and took the passenger seat.

Xiao Moli stepped on the accelerator. As the car sped forward, he looked straight ahead and said, “I—”

“I know, you were just passing by,” Smiling, An Ziqi interrupted him.

Driving that car at a snail’s pace, he was obviously waiting for her. Why couldn’t he just admit it?

Tsk, tsk. ‘We are getting conceited, aren’t we?’

Showing no emotion, Xiao Moli replied, “Good. Just so you know.”

He must have had his brains crushed by the door. He had recalled the idiotic woman’s anxious look when she was desperately looking to flag down a cab that morning and be driven here.

An Ziqi smiled sweetly and did not argue.

Although the air-conditioning in the car was turned on to the maximum, Xiao Moli did not feel the effect since he was dressed in an elegant suit and leather shoes.

However, for An Ziqi, her wet clothes gradually turned cold. Unable to hold back, she sneezed continuously.

Xiao Moli glanced at her and frowned as he noted the wet clothes clinging to her body.

“I know that I am irresistible,” he said sarcastically. “Even so, surely you did not have to resort to these tactics to seduce me in broad daylight.”

Grimacing, An Ziqi said wryly, “Yeah, that’s right. You are so good-looking and charming that I am constantly thinking of ways to seduce you. Could Mr. Xiao kindly lend me his jacket please?”

“Nope,” Xiao Moli refused rudely.

“Do you understand the meaning of caring for your treasured gem?”

“Where’s the treasured gem?”

“Did you forget your eyes when you left home this morning?”

“You are at best a stone.”

An Ziqi fumed. Nothing had changed. This guy’s tongue was as toxic as ever.

Xiao Moli’s lips curled up slightly. Unexpectedly, he was in a really good mood.

While bickering with An Ziqi, he had made an about-turn on the steering wheel.

The car came to a stop not far from a boutique. Curious, An Ziqi looked at Xiao Moli, “Did you want to buy some clothes?”

Xiao Moli looked at her with disdain, “Do you really think that I am the one who looks disheveled?”

An Ziqi was speechless. Okay, she acknowledged that, indeed, she was the one who needed clothes and not him.

She opened the door, stepped out of the car, and walked towards the boutique.

An Ziqi had just entered the shop when the shop assistant took one look at her and raised her eyebrows.

Another salesperson in the shop could not resist saying, “You are in the wrong place. We do not sell damaged goods here.”

“I’m not…”

An Ziqi did not get the chance to explain.

The salesperson had withdrawn a five-dollar note from the cash register and shoved it in her hand, saying, “Please leave now. Don’t hang around and affect our business.”

Clutching the five-dollar note in her hand, An Ziqi was beyond words. Yesterday, she had thrown Xiao Moli a five-dollar note, and now, she was at the receiving end of another five-dollar note. Was this what they meant by karma?

“I came here to buy some clothes.”

At her words, another salesperson assessed An Ziqi from head to toe and said sarcastically, “You want to buy clothes? You can buy an outfit for a hundred dollars at Chengnan Used Goods Market, but you would not be able to afford to buy clothes in our shop. You should just leave and not embarrass yourself.”

“Well, didn’t you know that some people are just materialistic wannabes? Thinking that simply spending time in a high-end boutique would turn them into a wealthy person,” The salesperson who had shoved her the five-dollar note sneered.

That said, she instructed the others, “Keep a close eye on her and make sure that she doesn’t dirty our clothes.”
