Deadly Doting Marriage - Chapter 14
Chapter 14
The bartender was shocked when he saw John drinking so fast. “Mr. Lambert, slow down!”
John gave him a sidelong glance and said in a deep voice, “This is none of your business! Give me a few more glasses of whiskey!”
The bartender had not tried to persuade him any further. He went and poured a few glasses of whiskey before he served them to John.
John held up the glasses and gulped them down one by one.
He quickly became drunk as he drank too fast. The whiskey had high alcohol content as well.
A woman sitting not far from him stared at his handsome face from the side. She then came up to him, a flirtatious smile playing on her red lips. “Hey, handsome! Care to join me for a drink?”
She had set her eyes on John the moment he stepped into the bar, for he wore designer brands from head to toe.
He wore an Armani suit, a Patek Philippe watch and leather shoes worth a small fortune. She could tell at first glance that he was a wealthy man.
John shot her a look and uttered coldly, “Get lost!”
The woman’s name was Rose. She was new to the bar, so she did not recognize John.
Rose felt a little upset after getting yelled at. She wanted to keep pestering John.
Meanwhile, the bartender had already gone to look for the manager as he could tell that John was already drunk. He knew John would lash out at everyone wherever he went when he was in a foul mood.
The bar manager, Fred Walters, quickly came up to them and slid a glance at Rose. “Back off, Rose! This is Mr. Lambert!”
He looked John up and down and approached him carefully. “Mr. Lambert, you drank a bit too much today. Are you feeling a little tipsy? Do you want me to call Ms. Millan and tell her to come and keep you company?”
The news of the engagement between John and Sherri had spread across Hillford. Almost everyone in Hillford knew about them. Therefore, he thought it would be the perfect choice to call Ms. Millan.
John held up his glass and continued drinking without once looking at the manager.
Upon seeing that, Fred decided to reach Sherri on her phone. “Hello, is this Ms. Millan? Mr. Lambert is currently in our bar. He seems a little drunk, could you please come and get him?”
“What? A bar?” Sherri immediately answered, “Okay, I’ll be right there!”
After ending the call, Fred ordered the bartender to keep an eye on John.
Meanwhile, John tried to stand up, but he almost fell to the ground as he was so drunk that he was wobbling around.
Fred quickly went up to support him. “Mr. Lambert, be careful!”
“Go away!” John pushed Fred away and stumbled against the couch in the room. “Tell Kathleen to come and tend to me…”
Fred was slightly surprised to hear that. ‘Kathleen? The girl adopted by Mr. Lambert.’
He hastened toward the entrance to look for John’s driver and tell him to contact Kathleen.
The driver then gave Kathleen a call and explained the situation to her.
After the driver hung up the call, a red sports car stopped at the entrance of Wild Encounter Bar.
Sherri opened the car door and got out of the car.
She was wearing four-inch stiletto heels and a long red dress that perfectly outlined her sexy and voluptuous body. She had delicate makeup on her pretty face, her long curly hair draped behind her. Her body would sway from side to side as she walked.
The driver quickly went up to greet her. “Ms. Millan, what brings you here?”
“Where’s John?”
“Mr. Lambert is drinking inside the bar.”
Sherri shot him a condescending look before she turned and went inside the bar.
Under the dim lights of the bar, many men and women were dancing wildly to the music on the dance floor, twisting their bodies to their hearts’ content.
The acrid smell of cigarette smoke and the strong odor of alcohol wafted through the air. The loud music filled her ears, almost deafening her.
Sherri headed straight to John’s private room. As soon as she pushed open the door, she saw the man sitting on the couch.
His eyes were half-closed as he tossed his head back to drink the liquor. She watched the way liquor dripped down his neck, making him look so sexy and tempting. The flickering lights made his gorgeous face look even more lonely and isolated.
Sherri hastened toward him and grabbed him on his arm. “John, why are you drinking so much? Come home with me!”
John took a look at Sherri and furrowed his brows in disgust. “Go away!”
Sherri sat next to him and comforted him softly, “John, I’m Sherri. I’m here to take you home.”
John instantly pushed her away. “Back off! Don’t touch me!”
Sherri was caught off guard and almost fell to the floor when he pushed her away.
She tried to approach him again, but then she caught sight of a white figure walking into the bar.
‘It’s Kathleen! Why is she here?’
She was wearing a white shirt and skinny blue jeans, thin and frail.
Her hair was tied up in a ponytail and there was no makeup on her pretty face. Her innocent aura seemed at odds with the atmosphere in the bar.
“Ms. Yates?” Fred asked with a slight hesitation when he saw her.
Kathleen nodded her head. “Yes. I’m here to bring Young Master home!”
She walked up to John and said softly, “Young Master, you’re drunk. Let’s go home.”
John stared at her for some time before reaching his hand toward her.
Kathleen slowly led him out of the bar.
The driver hurried toward them to help hold John the moment he caught sight of them.
Both of them supported John on either side and helped him get into the car together.
As Kathleen sat in the back seat of the car, John leaned over her and caught the smell of mint and milk from her body. His thin lips curled up into a satisfied smile.
‘Milky scent. This is definitely my kid.’
