Deadly Doting Marriage - Chapter 19
Chapter 19
Sherri frowned and stared at Kathleen, saying, “Do you understand what I said? He’s a normal man, and you’re a girl. Hence, you should keep a distance between the two of you. Do you understand what I am saying?”
Kathleen looked straight into her eyes. “So what if we slept together? Is Ms. Millan going to kill me?”
“Well, I won’t do that.” Sherri chuckled. “If you two continue this act, even if I don’t do anything about it, John’s reputation will still be ruined by you!”
Kathleen stared at Sherri, and her body shivered.
“You don’t have to look at me that way. I’m telling the truth!” Sherri mocked,” Kathleen, you must remember your roots. Don’t forget that your parents hurt his parents, and he even lost a leg because of them. At the end of the day, you’re just his enemy’s daughter, and he adopted you! Since your parents already ruined the first half of his life, are you still going to ruin the rest of his life?”
Hearing that, Kathleen clenched her fist, and her face was ashen.
Noticing that her words were effective, Sherri giggled in satisfaction. “I know that you’re a smart child, and I’m sure you understood what I said, right? If you do, then you should think about what you should do from now onward!”
After saying all these, Sherri stood up, informing Kathleen, “Alright, that’s all I have to say. You should behave yourself!”
Then, Sherri opened the door and left the room.
Kathleen stared at the moon outside the window for quite some time. Finally, she slowly closed her eyes…
After recuperating for about ten days, Kathleen’s injuries were healing.
The bruises on her face were also fading, and they were not as apparent as before.
Later, the doctor re-examined Kathleen, and he reported to John, “Mr. Lambert, Ms. Yates can be discharged now. Just remember to eat the medicine on time for the next few days, and she’ll be fine!”
“Alright!”
John took the prescribed medicine from the doctor and glanced at Kathleen. “Are you able to walk?”
“Yes, Young Master!”
“Then, why are you still limping?”
Kathleen lowered her gaze. “It’s fine!” After all, her legs were wounded. Therefore, even though she was getting better, it would still hurt her slightly when she walked.
“Young Master, I can endure it!”
“There’s no need for that!” After he said that, John immediately carried Kathleen and made their way to the elevator.
Kathleen was dumbfounded, and she looked at him, asking, “Young Master, what about your leg?”
“Just because I only have one leg, you think I can’t carry you?”
Kathleen lowered her head. “That’s not what I meant!”
“Good!” Soon, the elevator reached the first floor. With Kathleen in his arms, he strode toward the entrance.
John was a very tall man. He stood about 1.80 meters and had a broad shoulder. Unknowingly, his warm chest gave others a sense of security.
Kathleen rested against him, and she could hear his heart beating clearly.
“Thud… Thud… Thud…”
It was steady and powerful.
She clenched her fists tightly, and her face blushed pink.
Nevertheless, John had not noticed her slightly reddened cheeks. Then, he glanced at the driver, and the driver immediately opened the car door, letting John carry Kathleen into the car.
After that, John ordered the driver with a cold tone, “Back to the villa!”
“Yes, Mr. Lambert!” The driver nodded, and he stepped on the pedal, making their way toward Lambert’s residential villa.
When they reached the villa, John and Kathleen got out of the car. As soon as they were in the living room, Kathleen saw Rachel Lewis, Matthew Lewis, and Waverly Lewis.
They were respectively John’s aunt, uncle-in-law, as well as cousin.
After the passing of John’s parents, Aunt Rachel took care of him, and she was also his only relative.
Matthew was also a cultured and polite man. He was not only honest and considerate, but he also had a good temper, and he always treated others warmly.
However, Waverly was pampered and spoiled since she was a child. Hence, she was arrogant and acted just like a delinquent.
Kathleen was never fond of her, and she did not want to have any interaction with Waverly.
Rachel and Matthew were about to greet Kathleen when they saw her, but Waverly already interrupted them and mocked, “Oh! The stupid, adopted girl is back!”
Matthew frowned. “Waverly, don’t be so disrespectful!”
“Am I being disrespectful? It’s the truth!” Then, Waverly snorted, “Isn’t she just a fool adopted by John?”
Kathleen was too lazy to care, so she only greeted Matthew and Racheal, “Hi, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis!”
Rachel walked toward her, sizing Kathleen up and down. “How do you feel? How’s your injury?”
No matter what horrendous act Kathleen’s father did, they still somewhat adored Kathleen, the girl who John raised. After all, the child was innocent.
Kathleen answered softly, “Thank you for your concern, Aunt Rachel. I’m fine now!”
“That’s good. You should rest well at home these next two days!”
Kathleen hummed in reply, and she was about to turn around and head upstairs.
Seeing that, Waverly immediately went forward and blocked Kathleen’s path. “Stop right there. Do you not see me? Are you blind? How dare you ignore me?”
John furrowed his brows, and he was about to speak up for Kathleen when she stopped in her tracks. She looked at Waverly up and down, saying coldly, “Hi, Ms. Lewis!”
After saying that, she walked around Waverly and went upstairs.
Waverly stomped her feet in anger, and she complained resentfully, “John, that’s the fool that you adopted. She has no manners at all.”
