Deadly Doting Marriage - Chapter 7
Chapter 7
The drunk man had not answered her question. Instead, he staggered to her bed and laid down.
Kathleen furrowed her brows as he reeked of alcohol. “Young Master, are you drunk? This is my room!”
John was the drunk man who just walked into her room in the middle of the night.
He looked at the girl’s bright eyes in the murky darkness and noticed the anger flashing past her eyes.
He lifted his brows and said condescendingly, “What? I can’t sleep in your room?”
He reached out to grab her chin, and a vague smile played on his face. “I raised you, so what if I sleep on your bed?”
Kathleen remained silent as she could not think of a point to rebut him.
“Enough, stop talking and sleep!” John wrapped his arms around Kathleen as they laid on the bed together.
Kathleen tried to break free from his embrace, but he tightened his hold.
She could not move and was forced to lie on the bed with bated breath.
She could hear John’s breathing becoming even after a short while.
She took a closer look at the man’s stunning face by the light of the moon.
His features were exquisite. He looked like an angel when he was sleeping, completely different from how he was during the day.
He had fallen into a deep sleep, and occasionally he would furrow his brows and stretched out his legs, pressing himself even tighter against Kathleen.
Kathleen really wanted to get some sleep, but once she closed her eyes, she would be reminded that John was sleeping beside her.
She dared not sleep. Her body stiffened as she stared blankly at the ceiling above her.
The darkness of the night was pressing up against the windows. The sky gradually turned from black to gray with the promise of dawn…
When the sky finally turned white, the rays of morning light fell upon the bed, showering them with light and warmth.
John opened his eyes dreamily and bolted up abruptly when he saw the scene before him.
He was slightly stunned when he saw Kathleen. “Why are you in my room?”
“Young Master, you’re in my room,” Kathleen replied, her face expressionless.
John seemed surprised to hear that. “When did I come to your room?”
“Last night after midnight.”
He looked around the room and realized that it was indeed Kathleen’s room.
He felt inexplicably irritated by what he had perceived. ‘What’s wrong with me? Why did I come to her room after I was drunk?’
He studied Kathleen’s pale, worn face and asked, “What did I do in your room?”
“Nothing, you just slept. Young Master, if you like my room, I can move to the maid’s room!” Kathleen answered with an indifferent expression on her face.
John was mad. ‘Is she deliberately trying to annoy me?’
His face darkened as he stood up. “Did I tell you to move? So what if I slept in your room? You might as well sleep in the same room with me after this! It’ll be more convenient for you to take care of my leg!”
Kathleen’s face remained unperturbed as she nodded her head dully. “Oh, okay.” As usual, she did not try to refute.
John snorted coldly before he turned around and left the room.
After washing up herself, Kathleen went to university, like she did every day.
She was studying at Hillford University, one of the most recognizable universities in town. It was a high-profile institution that had the best lecturer teams and rich teaching resources. It was one of the universities in Project 211.
Both Kathleen and Nancy majored in computer science and technology, a course where men outnumbered women. That was why John was unwilling to let her choose that course at first, but in the end, he decided to let Kathleen have it since she really liked it.
After Kathleen entered the classroom and sat down at her desk, Nancy glanced at her and asked, “What’s the matter? You look so worn and tired! Did you not get enough rest last night?”
Kathleen nodded her head in answer. She had barely slept last night as she was sharing a room with John.
She felt sluggish and sleepy.
“You’d better watch out! We have mathematics class this morning, and Ms. Tina Jennings conducts it! You’ll get in trouble if you’re caught sleeping during the lecture.”
Their mathematics lecturer, Tina Jennings, was known for her strictness. She was stern, aggressive and harsh. Once, a student arrived a minute late to her class, and Ms. Jennings told him to run ten laps around the field as punishment.
The field at Hillford University was huge. After running ten laps, the student was so exhausted that he almost spat out a mouthful of blood.
Even so, Ms. Jennings still made him write a letter of apology and read it out loud ten times in front of the whole class. She only let the student off after he promised that he would not repeat similar mistakes in the future.
“These students are too rowdy. They would never learn anything unless they are punished.” That was her motto.
Those who were caught because of their misdemeanor would receive harsh punishment.
The students dreaded her, so they started calling her Mad Tina.
“Ms. Jennings is here!” Nancy pointed at the door and sat up straight.
Other students immediately went back to their seats when they caught sight of Tina.
The boisterous classroom instantly quieted down.
Tina was wearing an old-fashioned suit. She walked up to the lectern and greeted, “Good morning, everyone!”
“Good morning, Mad…Ms. Jennings!”
Tina fired a sharp glare their way, but she did not say anything. Without further ado, she flipped open the textbook and started her lecture.
Kathleen always had good grades, and she paid attention in classes. However, tiredness had taken over and all she wanted was to sleep. She drifted into sleep not long after the class started.
Tina was While Tina was giving them a lecture, she suddenly caught sight of Kathleen, who had fallen asleep on the desk. Her face darkened as she trotted toward Kathleen.
