Upon the mention of that child, Lu Anran’s heart suddenly ached, and hatred filled her eyes. She sneered, “You blame me? Why do you blame me? When something happened to my family back then, you married the director’s daughter at lightning speed. And I, your girlfriend, who was pregnant with your child, only realized that I was dumped when I received your wedding invitation!”
She laughed with condescension. “Gu Liangchen, you abandoned me and married someone else without even breaking up with me. Do you want me to be your mistress? You have a dear wife in your arms, so why can’t I find someone else? You don’t want me anymore. Do I have to stay single for you in my entire life? How dare you!”
Gu Liangchen didn’t expect that she would ridicule that incident so indifferently, and it was as if the anger and disappointment he had been suppressing in his heart for the past two years had all lost its meaning.
He nodded with a frosty expression on his face. “If that’s the case, why are you looking for me?”
He didn’t wait for her to respond. He turned around and walked into the gate.
Lu Anran stared at the man’s back, gritted her teeth, and chased after him. She stopped him before he could enter the door. “Gu Liangchen, believe it or not, I will enter your house now and cause trouble by exposing your pretentious ways in front of your wife. I’ll tell her that you’re still lusting after your ex until now!”
His eyes turned colder that she couldn’t discern the slightest emotion. The man glanced at her as if he was looking at a complete stranger. He scorned, “If you have the guts, then go.”
Gu Liangchen glared at Lu Anran, as if he couldn’t be bothered to give her the time of day anymore, he forced his way through her and entered the door.
The heavy rain, along with the cold wind, harassed Lu Anran. She was chilled from the skin to the bones.
With a self-deprecating smile on her face, Lu Anran stood in the rain while staring at Gu Liangchen’s back.
She was too naive to think that he would care about their past. Thinking about it now, she realized that it was ridiculous. If he was really a caring person, how could he abandon her and their unborn child so decisively and ruthlessly in the first place?
She went back to the car, took out her phone from the bag, and called Lu Anna.
“Sister, I remember that you and Gu Liangchen’s wife were classmates in high school. Can you ask her to meet me?”
Lu Anna was taken aback. “You want to see Zhu Lanyi? But with your previous relationship with Gu Liangchen, isn’t it awkward for you two to meet?”
Lu Anran pressed her painful temples. “I can’t get through to Gu Liangchen, and now there’s no other way. Worst case scenario, she can mention any conditions.”
Zhu Lanyi’s father was of high authority. If she was willing to help, Gu Liangchen would have to show them face.
Lu Anna hesitated for a few seconds. “Okay, I will try my best to arrange it for you.”
“The sooner the better.”
…
Lu Anna was very efficient in her work. She arranged an appointment the next day and set the meeting in a high-end tea shop.
It rained nonstop for two days, and the traffic jam was extremely severe during rush hour at night. By the time Lu Anran arrived, she was already half an hour late.
As soon as she parked the car, she saw Lu Anna and an elegantly dressed woman coming out of the tea house. Were they blaming her for being late and, thus, leaving?
She hurriedly greeted them. When she was about to speak, she saw Lu Anna winking at her.
She asked in confusion, “What’s the matter, Sister?”
Before Anna Lu could speak, Zhu Lanyi suddenly looked at her. “Are you Anna’s assistant?”
Then she remembered that she was wearing a mask because she caught a cold in the rain yesterday, so she probably didn’t recognize her.
She was just about to say no when Zhu Lanyi asked her dazedly, “Did you drive?”
