Chapter 26 Attack of the Sea Monster
“Alien Planet Alliance?! The Alien Planet Alliance again?!”
The moment the System notification sounded in his mind, Meng Lei sharply caught a few familiar words.
He vaguely remembered that this was not the first time he had heard these words.
At the beginning of the game, the System had mentioned the Alien Planet Alliance in a series of notifications.
The reason why he was very sensitive to the name of this organization was because a reputation which seemed useless at the moment would determine the players’ status in the Alien Planet Alliance in the future.
At the same time, it also determined the purchasing power of mileage points.
Meng Lei had always regarded reputation as extremely important because of this.
“What kind of organization is this Alien
Planet Alliance?!”
“What role does it play in the game?!”
“Is it just an official faction in the background of the game?!”
“From the words in the System notification, it seems to indicate that the player’s every move is under its surveillance.”
“Or am I thinking too much?”
“The expectation expressed by the System at the end might just be a general template in the game settings. Is this said to any player who built a shipborne weapon and not targeting me?”
Meng Lei frowned suspiciously.
Meng Lei thought of his game cheat that had subjective consciousness and vaguely seemed to be spying on him. The more he thought about it, the more he felt that something was wrong.
This game of transmigration gave him a strange feeling.
He desperately wanted to grasp the clues, but
he had no idea where to start.
In the end, he could only plant the seed of doubt in his heart deeper into the soil of doubt.
He hoped that he would be able to find some clues in the following journey to water the seeds and germinate them so that the flowers
that bloomed would reveal the truth.
He took a deep breath and suppressed his doubts.
At this stage, it was still too far away to think about these things.
His rationality reminded Meng Lei that before reaching the first outpost, he had to put all his energy into the struggle to survive.
Thinking about those messy things was useless. It was purely making things difficult for him.
At this moment, two System notifications sounded.
The interior of the submarine also began to
gradually change.
A virtual screen similar to a data model
enveloped the entire inner wall of the submarine, like a loading program when playing games.
At the same time, the cockpit door opened automatically.
Next to the main pilot seat, a cylindrical object was constructed vertically from the top of the submarine.
A large amount of data streams emerged, constantly perfecting the structure and appearance of the cylindrical object.
In addition, in the empty area between the cockpit and the living quarters, a magazine that looked like a fireplace appeared out of thin air and stuck to the metal cabin wall.
A thick pipe led straight to the top of the submarine. It seemed to be some kind of transmission device.
Everything looked extremely technological and magical.
After about half a minute, the structure of the electromagnetic cannon was completely constructed.
Everything returned to normal.
The already small and cramped submarine space became even more crowded with the addition of a tall magazine.
Meng Lei could not help but complain in his heart. The hint given by the System was true.
It was indeed the limit for such a small submarine to carry a cannon.
If another one was installed, there would
almost be no standing place in the living quarters!
He left the empty magazine aside for the time
being.
Meng Lei walked first to the pilot seat and sat down.
The cylindrical object that the System had constructed just now, he could tell what it was now.
Equipment similar to VR glasses protruded
from the bottom of the cylindrical object.
Two active grips with red buttons forked on either side of the cylinder.
It was clearly a submarine periscope with a cannon launcher!
“This thing… is high-tech! Interesting!” After observing with interest for a moment,
Meng Lei sat in the pilot seat and curiously put his eyes on it.
The surrounding light gradually disappeared.
The dark blue seawater appeared in front of him! Looking out through the periscope, the view was directly above the submarine.
Through the angle of the rotation, he could see everything around him. With the exception of the submarine’s underside, there was no blind spot, and the firing range was quite good.
An electromagnetic cannon launcher filled
with futuristic technology stood quietly on the top of the submarine. Two thick barrels shot into the sky!
Under the illumination of the launcher’s
lights, the black muzzle emitted a ghastly light that was intimidating! “Awesome! Damn, it’s so awesome!” “Real men have to play with these things to
be satisfied. What AK47? What M249? They’re all damn weak!”
Meng Lei shouted excitedly.
It was as if a child had discovered a new toy
and could not bear to part with it.
In addition, as he kept moving the grips in his hand,
the thick and ferocious barrel of the electromagnetic cannon was also constantly
adjusting its angle, it was extremely agile.
Meng Lei familiarized himself for a while and quickly adapted to the control mode of the electromagnetic cannon.
The only regret he had was…
At the bottom of the periscope’s field of
vision, there was a notification that indicated the ammunition reserves. It showed that the current amount of ammunition was zero and did not meet the firing conditions. Otherwise, he would really want to have a few rounds of fun first. Moreover, another line of energy consumption data made his heart sink.
The data on it indicated that the electromagnetic cannon required 10% of the submarine’s energy for every box of ammunition consumed.
In other words, even if it was a 100% energy reserve,
at most, it could only support the electromagnetic cannon in emptying ten boxes of ammunition!
It was really difficult for ordinary people to withstand such a huge energy consumption. “Forget it. I’ve already built it. Am tol to fuss over that bit of energy?!”
“If I kill a few more alien sea monsters, I’ll earn everything back!”
Meng Lei curled his lips and comforted himself silently.
He finally had something to protect himself,
but for now, it was just an empty shell.
In order to make it effective as soon as
possible, Meng Lei turned around and returned to the weapons workshop. After opening the manufacturing list, he searched for the ammunition manufacturing requirements for the electromagnetic cannon. Only then did he realize that there were
actually several types of electromagnetic
cannon ammunition.
He had never even heard of most of the manufacturing materials.
He could only barely meet the requirements for the most basic ordinary ammunition. [Electromagnetic cannon’s box of ammunition: Lead: 2/2; Steel bar: 0/1; Aluminum: 2/2]
(This ammunition is a normal type. It only causes a basic penetration wound. Although its effect is average, it’s enough to deal with
most of the alien planet sea monsters in the shallow zone.)
Meng Lei was relieved by the System’s
evaluation.
Fortunately, when he was putting the fish on
the rack just now, he had given a third of it to the players, allowing them to freely choose
the terms of the exchange, and he had accidentally obtained three units of lead. Otherwise, even though the electromagnetic
cannon had been built, he could only stare at
it helplessly.
He casually made a steel bar at the side and
gathered all the materials.
A moment later, a heavy electromagnetic cannon ammunition box appeared on the manufacturing station of the weapons workshop.
He stuffed the ammo box into the magazine. When he turned around to look at the
periscope, the ammunition count had already reached 100%.
“I’m finally relieved!” “With the electromagnetic cannon, I can at
least do whatever I want before I reach the
gathering place of the outpost!”
Meng Lei laughed heartily, feeling extremely carefree.
However, before he could celebrate for too crazily long, an ear-piercing alarm suddenly sounded in the cockpit! Meng Lei was shocked and confused. Glancing at the three-dimensional map projected on the sonar display, he suddenly realized.
Unexpectedly, there was a red anomaly that had left its original position at some point in time. It took the initiative to approach Bottomless Valley.
“Damn, what’s going on?! The sea monster is taking the initiative to attack?!”
