Cao Yan scoffed. “You still have the cheek to come out? Some of these items require more than 10 thousand points to exchange. It would take me an eternity to accumulate so many.”
“Don’t be impatient.”
The fake system explained sheepishly, “Didn’t I mention that some of the things need not be exchanged with points? Objects of the same value from the Green Jungle would also work.”
“Scram! Same value? If I can find something of the same value as the objects which require 10 thousand points, why would I exchange it with you?” Cao Yan refuted angrily.
“That might not be the case. What you deem as valuable might not have a high value to the spaceship. In contrast, the things you consider junk might be of the same value as the genetic embryo from the gene bank. You might be able to exchange something with it,” the fake system said slowly.
Cao Yan did not continue harping on the topic. “Tell me what I can get with 80 points.”
A few items appeared on the screen interface.
[Trainer assistant: 50 points (black technology)]
[Human puppet: 5 points (regular items)]
[Special demon ball: 30 points (capturing items)]
[Spiritual concentration potion: 60 points (individual growth)]
There were still quite some items.
“What is a trainer assistant?”
The human puppet did not look like anything decent. Otherwise, it would not require such low points to exchange for. Cao Yan thought the human puppet might be something useless like a capsule doll. It was not impossible either. Judging from how the fake system worked, Cao Yan really could not count on it to provide anything useful. Therefore, he skipped the human puppet in case he fell into some trap.
As for the special demon ball, no matter what function it had, Cao Yan did not need it at the moment. He would not inquire about it too. The only ones left were the spiritual concentration potion and the trainer assistant. So he chose one to ask.
“It is a tool that helps in your practice and could forge an even more direct connection between the trainer and the demon pet.”
The fake system said, “To put it simply, it functions like a phone.”
Cao Yan had asked the fake system before why he did not see people having phones or other communicative devices with the level of civilization of this world. The fake system explained that because of the complicated magnetic field, especially in the forests, technological products were not able to work effectively. Therefore, it was not that there weren’t any communicative set-ups in the world, but rather, due to the various restrictions, communicative devices were only used in places where humans gathered, like in Magic Metropolis.
Once they moved into the forest, because of the magnetic field, the supernatural forces, and other reasons, communicative devices would lose their function. They could not be used in many areas and were therefore not commonly seen.
This also resulted in the uniqueness of this world. Despite the advanced civilization in the city, once you moved to the forest, most of the technological products would be dead, and one would move back to the primeval era. You could only depend on yourself.
It was two different worlds separated by the city walls.
The trainer assistant was an object of black technology that had surpassed the current level of technology in this world. It would be able to overcome the external factors and allow Cao Yan to keep a more direct connection with Eggy. Even if they were far apart, he could constantly check on Eggy’s status.
The biggest advantage was that even if Cao Yan was in the city and could not head to the forest, he could still train Eggy over the long-distance and give it commands to prevent any mishaps.
“What about the spiritual concentration potion?”
“This works on yourself. It can strengthen your spiritual powers. Type-I is an elementary potion. After taking this, your spiritual powers will enhance a little. Other side effects include increased memory, better understanding, and strengthening of the knowledge you have grasped.”
Cao Yan decided to spend 60 points on the spiritual concentration potion.
The reason was simple: Eggy had a strong autonomy. Besides, it would be evolving fast in its initial stages, so there was no need to interfere and give it specific training.
Therefore, the trainer assistant was not what he needed urgently right now. He could get his hands on it next time.
However, not only could the spiritual potion increase Cao Yan’s spiritual power, but it could also help him better understand the skills and techniques. That was what he needed at the moment.
He chose the Type-I spiritual potion after careful consideration.
The interface slowly pushed a transparent tube filled with a clear, pale green liquid. It looked exquisite, like a precious masterpiece.
Cao Yan held it in his hand and looked at it for a while before downing it in a gulp. A cold sensation rushed to his glabella and spread across his forehead. Suddenly, he felt that he had a never-before understanding and insight into the knowledge he had grasped.
He could not see the other effects of the potion yet. He would have to wait for the opportunity.
Cao Yan closed his eyes for a while. When the cooling sensation on his forehead subsided, he opened his eyes and licked his mouth, reminiscing the taste.
All in all, this visit to the spaceship was not a very enjoyable one. He really could not bring himself to be happy with a severe lack of points.
Cao Yan looked at the skills tree in the spaceship that reflected his personal condition and noticed some changes. There was a black spider on one of the branches of the tree. It was holographic, just like the tree, and was dangling on the web it spouted.
The skills tree reflected a representation of Eggy when Cao Yan acquired it as his demon pet.
As for the two eggs from Eggy, the fake system scanned them and extracted some of the DNA for a test. The results showed that they belonged to an Ocean Peng1.
The Ocean Peng was a stage two flying demon. After it became an adult, it could evolve to reach stage three of the Subordinate level.
It was a common avian species along coastal regions and was not considered rare or precious.
What shocked Cao Yan was when he left the spaceship and returned to his cabin, the surface of the two eggs started to glow dimly. The light brown patterns on the eggshell became even more complicated and beautiful. The color had also darkened. On the spiritual level, Cao Yan could detect the stronger sense of life emitting from within the shells.
“What’s going on?”
“Under normal circumstances, the organisms that have their DNA extracted by the spaceship would get a chance to mend any flaws in their DNA. It can be considered a form of compensation and respect towards life and also an eternal rule.
“The genes of organisms which have been tested by the spaceship would usually be upgraded slightly,” the fake system explained.
So, it was a blessing in disguise for these two eggs after being tested by the spaceship and they had become extraordinary Ocean Peng eggs?
“That’s right. Once these two eggs hatch, it will be easy for them to evolve and reach stage three of the Subordinate level upon maturation. If they are trained well, they might even break through the Subordinate level and reach the Elite level.”
The fake system’s explanation put Cao Yan in deep thoughts as he stared at the two eggs silently.
The long night passed quickly.
That night, Cao Yan stayed in his cabin and meditated on his spiritual powers. The next morning, he woke up early and entered Magic Metropolis once again.
