Destiny Online: Halo Paladin - Chapter 33
Chapter 33: Guild Invitation
The party made their way to the NPC and exchanged for the items they desired.
Just when Nocturne wanted to browse through the shop for what to exchange, Beitang Meng came over and talked to him.
“You have your eyes on that Level 15 Flame Purification Halo skill?”
[Skill Book: Flame Purification Halo (Paladin)]
[Flame Purification Halo]
[Instant Cast]
[You and your allies receive increase in Fire Resistance (All attributes x 0.05) x (1 x Skill Level x 0.1)]
[You and your allies receive a certain chances to clear Burn debuff]
[Requirement: Level 15]
“Mhmm, I saw it. Are you trying to…” Nocturne already had a guess what Beitang Meng was trying to say.
“Yeah, that’s right. I want you to get it and help us get the first clear of Blazing Valley. Other than that, I want to invite you into our guild, Dreaming Back to Great Tang,” Beitang Meng said.
“Mhmm? You guys didn’t get this skill book from farming?”
“No. We got Frost Purification Halo and I’ve arranged for them to try to clear Ice Cave.”
“Mhmm, okay. I’ll get the skill book first. As for the guild invitation, we’ll talk when we go out.” Nocturne thought it was not the good time to discuss joining the guild at the moment.
“Sure.”
Nocturne looked at the price for the exchange. A Level 15 skill book was extremely expensive, all he could get was the skill book plus another Old Mino of the set.
However, Flame Purification Halo had a good chance of pushing him up to the First Blood achievement ranking again and he could even go join a sudden death mode dungeon for the lucrative loot.
With that in mind, Nocturne clenched his teeth and exchanged for the skill book.
Since gear for lifestyle classes were rarer, the price was a lot higher compared to combat class gear.
As for the rest of the coins, Nocturne simply exchanged them for Small Talent Stones. With the loot he got from the dungeon, he had enough talent stones to level up his talent to Level 3, which would allow him to activate 4 halo skills at once.
After swiftly exchanging for the skill book, Nocturne realized ILikeDPS had also exchanged for his desired items and was minding his own business but the three girls were still thinking and browsing the shop.
“Great. I think they will take a while.” Nocturne decided to learn all the recipes he got first and go through the tutorial while waiting for the girls to finish.
It was only when they barely had any time left in the dungeon that the girls finally got what they wanted. The party then left the dungeon.
“Let’s go, we shall feast on spicy lobsters tonight!” Wind&Rum held a grudge against the giant lobster monster, she reminded Nocturne once they got out.
“Sure. Where’s the rented kitchen in your place?”
“Follow me.”
Wind&Rum then led the party back to Night Town and rented a kitchen at the tavern.
Nocturne served some beverages as starters before he started cooking in the kitchen.
While waiting for Nocturne, others sat down and chatted over some drinks.
“He seems to know what he’s doing, I think he can really cook. Please don’t be another Mayday please, her cooking is terrible. The system already told her the dish was ruined and yet she served it to us!” MeowMeow Tang somehow thought of the bitter memories she had with Mayday.
“His cooking is okay. Not as good as a professional cook but it fits my palette,” Beitang Meng said.
“Hoho? Beitang, you tried his cooking before?” Meowmeow Tang was a little surprised.
“Yeah, I tried once back at the newbie village.”
“Hmmm, then it’s worth looking forward to.”
“I’m more curious about how he found out about the treasure boxes around the lake. He led us around the lake to fish and he got a treasure box every time,” Wind&Rum said, expressing her curiosity.
“That I know. A while ago, there was an older player in our sub-branch who got himself a fishing skill book. He learned it and was able to spot rare fishing spots,” Meowmeow Tang said as she tried to show off her knowledge.
“Then why don’t we ask him to help us?”
“That guy isn’t a full time player and his level is too low, so is his fishing mastery. He only got the skill book a few days ago. I got curious, so I did some digging: the fishing skill book can only be fished out by that particular player.”
“Chances are unknown and only a handful of them have it, so…” Meowmeow Tang shrugged.
“I have a feeling that Fishing will eventually be a trivial skill, it’s barely useful. Culinary requires mostly meat from land animals, there are only so many fish dishes. If it was not for the rare alchemy ingredients, Fishing would have no value at all,” Wind&Rum said.
“You are wrong. Fishing might be the minority but it has its own use,” Beitang Meng said, interrupting the two of them.
“Huh?” Sis, do you have any top secret internal news about that?”
“What do you think?” Beitang Meng mysteriously grinned.
…
A while later, Nocturne finished cooking. He prepared three big plates of spicy lobster, grilled and braised fish, turtle soup, etc.
He prepared so many dishes that the table was filled.
“Wao! Not bad!” Meowmeow Tang had a taste of the braised fish and praised it.
“Here, to our perfect clear! A toast! Cheers!” Beitang Meng, the guild master, proposed a toast to her party members.
“Cheers!”
The party clunk their mugs together before digging in.
Beitang Meng went for the lobster first. While she was peeling the shell, she asked Nocturne about the guild invitation.
“About the guild invitation, what’s your answer?”
“Erm… I’m much more of a free soul, somewhat lazy. I just love to fish around casually, so…” Nocturne had a feeling that he might not fit well into the guild, hence the hesitance.
“It’s fine. Our guild is considered casual compared to others. We all have our free time to do whatever we want. It’s up to you whether you want to join the guild’s events, it’s not mandatory. Only major events will require your attendance. Of course, if you are one of the core members, things would be different,” Beitang Meng said, attempting to explain the system of her guild to Nocturne.
“I see. Let me think…”
While he was pondering, he sent a message to Fu Wei.
“You there? Beitang Meng invited me into her guild.”
“Holy sh*t! Beitang Meng invited you into Dreaming Back to Great Tang?!”
“I still haven’t said yes.”
“Then what are you waiting for? Hurry up and say yes!”
“I’m actually asking for your opinion here, if you noticed. If you have any opinion, I can talk to her now. I was wondering whether we can get in together.”
“My my my. Of course I have, you are really my bro! You didn’t forget me in front of wealth and power!”
After ending the brief conversation, Nocturne started to arrange his words in his mind.
‘I have a friend. His talent is Alchemy Master, his alchemy mastery grows faster than other alchemists and he will only get faster from here on. I wonder if he can join us.”
“Not a problem. We welcome players with such a unique talent who want to join us, especially alchemy. Alchemy consumes more ingredients than other lifestyle classes. However, your friend will have to sign an agreement if he wants to use our resources to grow stronger.”
“I understand. Then please look after us in the future, guild master.”
“Good. We always welcome talents that join us. After we finish our meal, you can call your friend over.”
“I’ll contact him later.”
