Chapter 22: The Lich’s Treasure
York lay on the ground and stared expressionlessly at the black-robed man.
All the questions in his heart were answered.
Why were the Skeleton Knights chasing him?
Why were these low-level monsters so cooperative?
Everything was because of this black-robed man.
He stared at York in surprise.
He had been wondering where the monster that killed his minions had come from.
He had even guessed that it was a high-level undead from the depths of the catacombs.
However, when he arrived, he realized that it was an ordinary Skeleton monster.
To his surprise, this Skeleton monster was so special. Not only did it have strength that far exceeded ordinary skeletons, but its intelligence was also beyond imagination.
At this moment, he felt that his curiosity was burning.
He stared at York, his eyes burning with greed and desire.
He said coldly, “I want you!”
…
York ignored the black-robed man’s abnormal words.
He focused on the information in front of him.
[Lich]
[Level]: 45
[Status]: Health Points 1200, Magic Power 1500
[Attributes]: Constitution 95, Strength 87, Intelligence 120, Agility 93
[Skills]: Evil Energy Art, Undead Enslavement, Wither Entanglement
York stared at the [Undead Enslavement] skill in the Lich’s attributes panel fixedly. He could not contain his excitement.
‘I finally encountered him.’
‘A monster with this skill.’
[Undead Enslavement]
Description: You can control other undead creatures by infusing magic power into their bodies.
York knew that the Lich controlled the Skeleton Knights through this skill.
He could also guess what this guy was thinking.
He planned to use [Undead Enslavement] to control himself.
Indeed, after a moment of madness, the Lich gradually extended his withered right hand towards York’s head.
Noticing the greed and craziness in the Lich’s eyes, York was calm as water and even wanted to laugh.
It was not that he had given up resisting. He was not a low-level undead with no mind.
In the first three months after coming here, he had already deeply experienced the pain of being enslaved by others.
The reason why he was not afraid was that he, who had already broken free once, could not be enslaved again.
What the Lich was doing was futile.
This also made it easier for York.
“Your consciousness has been invaded.”
“You’re about to be enslaved…”
“Ding, detected your special talent.”
“You devoured the magic power that invaded your consciousness.”
“You cannot be enslaved.”
…
A series of system notifications sounded. York was delighted after reading them.
Indeed, this guy’s [Undead Enslavement] was useless against him.
However, after infusing his magic power into York’s consciousness, the Lich was very excited.
He did not realize that his magic power had been devoured by York.
He thought that his [Undead Enslavement] had succeeded.
He looked at York lying on the ground with burning eyes.
The Lich first made the surrounding Skeleton Knights draw their bone spears from York’s body, then ordered, “Stand up!”
York stood up expressionlessly, as if he had been enslaved.
Seeing that York was so obedient, the Lich was even more excited. He really thought he controlled this Skeleton monster.
This was the first time he had seen such a strange skeleton. The Lich saw infinite possibilities in him.
Although it was only a low-level creature now, he believed that under his nurturing, this Skeleton monster would soon become his strongest trump card.
With that in mind, the Lich looked deep into the boneyard.
Perhaps it would not be long before he could defeat that monster and obtain the treasure in its nest.
Without much thought, the Lich ordered, “Follow me!”
Then, he climbed onto the back of a Skeleton Knight and quickly left with York.
York obeyed the Lich obediently, but he had already made up his mind.
After reading the system notifications, York had already noticed it.
Although this Lich was at Level 45, his four attributes were not high.
The most troublesome were the undead minions around this guy.
As long as he seized the opportunity, York was confident in killing this guy.
What he had to do now was disguise as this guy’s minion and wait for an opportunity.
…
Soon, York followed the Lich to a courtyard constructed from skeleton bones.
After entering the courtyard, York was instantly shocked.
He realized that the Lich had been in the boneyard for an unknown period of time.
There were not only the hundreds of undead creatures he had enslaved in his courtyard.
There were also various weapons and equipment.
To the current York, these were treasures that he needed the most.
Initially, York was worried that if he could not obtain the [Undead Enslavement] skill from killing the Lich, he would have wasted his efforts.
But now, York had no such concerns.
In any case, York wanted the treasures in the skeleton courtyard..
