Chapter 23: Killing the Lich
York did not expect his opportunity to come so quickly.
As soon as they entered a bone house, only York and the Lich were left in the room.
York quickly realized that his opportunity had arrived.
Being deceived by York’s previous behavior, the Lich did not even retrieve York’s weapon and walked towards him without warning.
This was the first time he had seen a strange Skeleton monster like York. He could not wait to check it out.
When the Lich was about 2 meters away from York, the latter suddenly slashed at the head of the Lich.
When the Lich came to his senses, he saw the sharp sword light slashing at him.
Shocked, the Lich quickly retreated.
Although York was only Level 13, his agility was as high as 95 points.
It was even 2 points higher than a Level 45 Lich.
Although he had dodged the fatal blow, he was still struck on the left chest.
Dark green blood poured out of the black robe. Without giving him a chance to react, York unsheathed his saber and continued his pursuit.
He knew that he only had one chance, and he had to act quickly.
If the undead creatures outside the house rushed in, he would really die this time.
The Lich was shocked. He could not understand why the Skeleton monster would break free from his control.
However, in the face of a life-and-death crisis, he quickly reacted and raised his hand to use the skill, Evil Energy Art.
A black energy ball attacked. York quickly raised his saber to block it.
Clang!
There was a violent sound of metal colliding, and the black energy figure was repelled by York.
However, this strange energy instantly corroded the saber in York’s hand, causing it to shatter.
York was shocked and felt a sense of fear, but there was no time for him to think too much.
He rushed forward and stabbed the Lich.
“Ah!”
The Lich screamed as beads of sweat appeared on his forehead.
With a vicious look in his eyes, York did not waste any time. He cast a fireball at close range that exploded on the Lich.
The Lich was blown away, and York was lightly injured.
However, York could already hear the commotion outside.
His heart jolted as he knew there was no time to rest.
He immediately gathered flames, and huge fireballs pounced at the dying Lich.
Dust and flames rose in the narrow bone house.
Everything happened in an instant. Many times, small details could determine the outcome of a battle.
The Lich lost the initiative from the beginning. Under the circumstances that York was severely injured, it could not use most of its strength and was beaten up unilaterally.
Coupled with the fact that he had obtained the [Undead Enslavement] skill, he rarely fought personally. The result of relying too much on minions was that he only had attributes and skills, but not combat ability.
Its actual strength might not even be comparable to a Level 40 Skeleton Knight.
With another fireball, the Lich’s health was finally emptied.
“You killed a Lich.”
“You have received 5,000 experience points.”
“Congratulations on reaching Level 14. Constitution has increased by 10 points and Strength by 10 points.”
“Congratulations on reaching Level 15. Intelligence increased by 10 points and Agility increased by 10 points.”
“Congratulations on reaching Level 16. Strength has increased….”
…
A series of system notifications sounded. York leveled up three times.
However, this harvest was nothing compared to what he might obtain next.
York walked to the corpse and searched it carefully.
York’s eyes lit up when he saw a skill book with a ghost pattern. He quickly picked it up.
[Undead Enslavement]
Description: You can control other undead creatures by infusing magic power into their bodies.
Through the system’s inspection, it was confirmed.
York succeeded in his goal.
In his joy, York did not forget that he was still in danger.
There were hundreds of undead creatures waiting for him outside the house!
With a thought, the skill book turned into a white light that entered York’s body.
“You used a skill book.”
“You have learned the skill [Undead Enslavement].”
The moment York used up the skill book, a Skeleton Knight on a warhorse rushed in.
Without any unnecessary movements, the Skeleton Knight attacked York.
The Lich had died in battle, so the enslaved undead creatures were naturally free.
But since they were undead creatures, they did not need a reason to fight each other.
They could do this in order to gain experience, to absorb the other party’s death aura, or simply had the desire to fight.
This Skeleton Knight had countless reasons to kill York.
Looking at the undead knight charging at him, York could not help but laugh in a terrifying voice.
Even if these fellows did not come looking for him, he would find them.
York did not forget the humiliation earlier.
“Since you don’t know what’s good for you, I’ll put the reins back on for you..”
